Acts 1:1-8 (NKJV) Prologue 1 The former account I made, O aTheophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 buntil the day in which 1He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit chad given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen, 3 dto whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many 2infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit Promised 4 eAnd being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have fheard from Me; 5 gfor John truly baptized with water, hbut you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7 And He said to them, i"It is not for you to jknow times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 kBut you shall receive power lwhen the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and myou shall be 3witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and nSamaria, and to the oend of the earth."1 Matthew 24:1-14 (NKJV) The Temple to Be Destroyed Mark 13:1, 2; Luke 21:5, 6 24 Then aJesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, "Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, bnot one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down." The Disciples' Two Questions Mark 13:3, 4; Luke 21:7 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, cthe disciples came to Him privately, saying, d"Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?" The Tribulation Mark 13:5-23; Luke 21:5-24 4 And Jesus answered and said to them: e"Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For fmany will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' gand will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of hwars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for 1all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For ination will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be jfamines, 2pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 9 k"Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. 10 And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. 11 Then lmany false prophets will rise up and mdeceive many. 12 And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow ncold. 13 oBut he who endures to the end shall be saved. 14 And this pgospel of the kingdom qwill be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.2 Matthew 24:36-39 (NKJV) Illustration of the Days of Noah Mark 13:32-37; Luke 21:34-36 36 l"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of 6heaven, mbut My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 nFor as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 3 a Luke 1:3 b Mark 16:19; Acts 1:9, 11, 22 1 He ascended into heaven. c Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:15; John 20:21; Acts 10:42 d Matt. 28:17; Mark 16:12, 14; Luke 24:34, 36; John 20:19, 26; 21:1, 14; 1 Cor. 15:5-7 2 unmistakable e Luke 24:49 f [John 14:16, 17, 26; 15:26]; Acts 2:33 g Matt. 3:11; Mark 1:8; Luke 3:16; John 1:33; Acts 11:16 h [Joel 2:28] i 1 Thess. 5:1 j Matt. 24:36; Mark 13:32 k [Acts 2:1, 4] l Luke 24:49 m Luke 24:48; John 15:27 3 NU My witnesses n Acts 8:1, 5, 14 o Matt. 28:19; Mark 16:15; Rom. 10:18; Col. 1:23; [Rev. 14:6] 1 The New King James Version.
