Transition: Today we are focusing our attention on verse 1-20 of Mark chapter 15. We are going to discover from this passage that it is the King who dies in our place.

BE CONVERTED. Barabbas offers a descriptive example of what it means to have the innocent King die in place of the sinful rebel. Jesus suffered the penalty of God’s judgment for the pardon of sinners.
We are Barabbas… Jesus died in our place as the perfect sacrifice so that we would be made right with God. In order for you and I to be forgiven of our sinful rebellion, Jesus was endured the just wrath of God in your place. If this good news is being applied to your heart today then throw yourself upon Christ by faith. Turn away from your sin and trust only in the Savior, King Jesus who died in the place of sinners. Be Converted.
BE VICTORIOUS. Those who are converted can live in victory over sin. ( Hebrews 2:17-18) ( I Peter 2:24 )(Romans 6:5-14) How? take it to the cross. The sin that you may be so tempted by, or habitually committing time and again is the sin that Jesus died for. If Jesus died for it, then why you should live for it? Since Jesus died for it, the bondage of that sin is broken and you can consider yourselves, recon yourselves, that sin dead, and alive to righteousness. Alive to God.
Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
