THE BURNS • • Tim Chie • • • Mitsuki Emi Mei Church Planting in Nagoya, Japan THE CHRISTIAN’S MANDATE FOR MISSIONS Matthew 28:18-20 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” THE CHRISTIAN’S MANDATE FOR MISSIONS 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. THE CHRISTIAN’S MANDATE FOR MISSIONS Romans 15:20-21 from Jerusalem and all the way around to Illyricum I have fulfilled the ministry of the gospel of Christ; thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else's foundation, but as it is written, “Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.” WHY JAPAN? Acts 17:16-17 Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols. So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there.
