HOOK

As we close chapter 9 today, let us refresh ourselves of the things that we have learned from the narrative of the Pharisees when they investigated the healing of the man born blind
Remember that the indignation of the Pharisees towards Jesus is because of his acts of miracle performed during Sabbath— traditional day of worship & rest for the Jews
The acts of Jesus led us to conclude that:
IT IS NOT WHEN WE WORSHIP THAT MATTERS
IT IS HOW WE WORSHIP THAT MATTERS
In the course of their investigation— they asked the man born blind, healed by Jesus as to what he can say about him— He said that He is a prophet and so we looked into what is a prophet
By doing so, we discovered the prophetic offices of Jesus— that in indeed, he is not just a prophet— but..
JESUS IS A PROPHET
JESUS IS OUR GREAT HIGH PRIEST
JESUS IS OUR KING
They summoned the man a second time to get down to the bottom of their investigation
The blind mind who was healed by Jesus concluded with the following statements:
I WAS BLIND BUT NOW I SEE
HE LISTENS TO THE GODLY PERSON WHO DOES HIS WILL
IF THIS MAN MAN WERE NOT FROM GOD, HE COULD DO NOTHING
Now, let us see what this physical transformation means spiritually— keep in mind that everything that Jesus did was done with spiritual impact

BOOK

John 9:35–41 NIV
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” 36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.” 37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.” 38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him. 39 Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.” 40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?” 41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

LOOK

I HAVE COME INTO THIS WORLD, SO THE BLIND WILL SEE
Giving sight to the blind was one of the miraculous signs expected to accompany the coming of the Messiah [ISAIAH 42:7]
THOSE WHO SEE WILL BECOME BLIND
The Pharisees asked, “are we blind too?”
Religious tradition tends to blind the self-righteous [ISAIAH 6:9-10]
In many cases, religion held people from seeing— traditions passed down through generations kept them in the state of blindness
IF YOU WERE BLIND, YOU WOULD NOT BE GUILTY
No one is declared righteous because of the law— everyone broke everything— but rather the law makes us conscious of our sin [ ROMANS 3:20]
