What, then, is worship? Worship is an active response to God where by we declare His worth. Worship is not passive, but is participative. Worship is not simply a mood, it is a response. Worship is not just a feeling; it is a declaration.
(Read from “Christian Worship” by Franklin Segler and Randall Bradley)

Appeal to worship (6-7)

A young stranger to the Alps was making his first climb, accompanied by two stalwart guides. It was a steep, hazardous ascent. But he felt secure with one guide ahead and one following. For hours they climbed. And now, breathless, they reached for those rocks protruding through the snow above them—the summit.
The guide ahead wished to let the stranger have the first glorious view of heaven and earth, and moved aside to let him go first. Forgetting the gales that would blow across those summit rocks, the young man leaped to his feet. But the chief guide dragged him down. “On your knees, sir!” he shouted. “You are never safe here except on your knees.”
In all things and all times we must be on our knees
in times like we are in now
we must be on our knees
1857 - polarized nation, racial issues topped headlines, economy struggled with unemployment, churches on decline
the prayer revival of 1857-1858
Worship should be our lifestyle
permeate every fiber of who we are
We are His
his people
his sheep whom He loves and cares for

Do not harden your heart (7b-11)

Ex. 17, Nu 20
people were thirsty, rose up against Moses and Aaron (really God)
“Is the Lord among us or not?”
questioned God’s provision
“Did you bring us out of Egypt to kill us and our children with thirst?”
Hardened their hearts toward God
Psalmist said
thought they saw my work, know i had provided over and over, they hardened their hearts towards me
“vending machine god”
so they would never enter my rest
hearts have been broken in the last several months, more so last 2 weeks
we have seen God time and time again, step in and save his people
he will do it again
Don’t worry, Don’t stress, don’t be anxious
we know His ways
hearts hardened against God
need to repent and make Jesus your Lord
Don’t wait for tomorrow
William Mason which is well worthy to be written among your memoranda: “Every day of delay leaves a day more to repent of, and a day less to repent in.”
“I have no more right to continue to disobey than I ever had to disobey at all.” C.H. Spurgeon
Repent today
the creator of the universe stepped into time to save you
he is waiting fo ryou
do it today!
