16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
19 And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.
20 For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.
21 But whoever does what is true comes to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that his works have been carried out in God.”
The Simple Promise of Eternal Life (John 3:16)
The Love of God is on Display
The Course by which Deliverance Comes - ‘he gave his only Son’
The Conveyance of Deliverance - ‘whoever believes in him’
The Condemnation this Deliverance Avoids - ‘should no perish, but have eternal life’
The Son’s Incarnation - His First Coming, Is for the purpose of Offering, Eternal (v. 16) Salvation.
We later learn He Allows Himself to Become Sin and to take the Condemnation in our Place
This Does not remove his RIGHT to Judge or even condemn Sinful People (Think Religious leaders, Woes upon cities…)
The Church must Continue this Great Work: Offering Eternal Salvation - not through sacraments, rituals and sanctimonious efforts - But by the Simple Call of the Unbelieving Heart to Repent (Turn away from their unbelief) and Believe on the Name of Jesus
It is Your Unbelief that Leads to Your Morally Objectionable Actions
Your Repentance must begin with Turning from your Unbelief
Then, because of Your Faith, Your Trust, God Has Chosen to Save You
Your Deliverance, Your Move from Death to Life, Your Justification by God is an ACT of GOD that often Precedes Your Complete Moral Make-Over!
This Salvation Brings the Life and Light of Mankind - Jesus, Into your Life
Because this Light is now IN your life, IN your heart, Your Moral Corruption becomes Illuminated, Obvious.
What was once Normal is now Openly Declared as Deceitful and Despicable!
