Welcome to LWC’s live stream service, we are glad you are able to tune in with us to worship our God.
Right before the children of Israel entered into the Promised Land, Moses reminds them of their parent’s generation that was unable to enter the land due to their sin.
Even though the Lord told the previous generation them that they would be unable to enter the Land, this didn’t stop them from trying.
Deut 1:41 the people of Israel said saying

We have sinned against the LORD. We ourselves will go up and fight, just as the LORD our God commanded us.’ And every one of you fastened on his weapons of war and thought it easy to go up into the hill country.

Israel here is described as going into the land with only their own strength.
It’s only them going into the land
They though it would be easy for them to fight
But this wouldn’t be the case… listen to the Lord’s warning
Deuteronomy 1:42 ESV
42 And the Lord said to me, ‘Say to them, Do not go up or fight, for I am not in your midst, lest you be defeated before your enemies.’
This passage rightly demonstrates our need for God in the Christian life.
we often think or our need for God to save us from our sins by offering his Son to die in our place… But this is not the only time we need God
We needed God at the moment of our salvation to supply us with grace and faith
We need God to be with us every day to sanctify us... to enable us to love God and obey all his commands.
Even now this morning…
We are dependent on God in our when we preach,
We are dependent on God to open our eyes and ears as we hear the Word
Just as Luther wrote in A Mighty Fortress is Our God:
did we in our own strength confide
Our striving would be losing.
Let’s pray
Let’s recount what we believe as it has been summarized in the Apostles Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty
Maker of Heaven and Earth
And in Jesus Christ
His only Son out Lord
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit
Born of the Virgin Mary
Suffered under Pontius Pilate
Was crucified, dead, and buried,
The third day he arose again from the dead
He ascended into Heaven
And is seated on the right hand of God the Father Almighty
From there He shall come to judge
The living and the dead
I believe in the Holy Spirit
The holy universal church
The communion of saints
The forgiveness of sins
The resurrection of the body
And the life everlasting
Amen
