The story of Cain and Abel is one that causes us shock and dismay as we see the outworking of human sin being played out with the first murder. Abel’s blood cries out from the ground and Cain is called to account. We are warned not to follow his way. But there is also God’s grace and patience toward an undeserving sinner, as well as a gospel reminder of other innocent blood that will be shed that speaks better than that of Abel.
