Matthew 24:33–39 NASB95
33 so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door. 34 “Truly I say to you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. 35 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. 36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. 37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. 38 “For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
Now go with me to the book of revelation
Revelation 22:7 NASB95
7 “And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book.”
Revelation 22:12–13 NASB95
12 “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. 13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”
We close the book with verse
Revelation 22:20–21 NASB95
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. 21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all. Amen.
Look at the person sitting beside you and ask them. “Are you prepared for the Lords Coming?” Wait for an answer.
And by the text that I have pulled in Matthew and revelation it would seem that I am about to make an Eschatological case for some position that I believe.
But ratter that focusing on premillenialism, amillennialism or postmillennialism.
Or fighting over if Jesus is going to come Pre, post, or mid Rapture.
I want to focus on the one thing that every Christian should be in agreement on and that is that he is coming!!!!!
John closes the book with a promise from God that says “Surely I Come quickly”
And John replies with such excitement “Come Lord Jesus!!!”
A man can only say this when he is ready.
Jesus here in Matthew is addressing his Disciple concerning the last days.
Notice what Jesus says in verse 37
Matthew 24:37 NASB95
37 “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah.
It will be as the days of Noah……
Now what is Jesus talking about????
Turn your bibles to
Genesis 6:3 NASB95
3 Then the Lord said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
Verse 5
Genesis 6:5–7 NASB95
5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 The Lord said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them.”
Now noctice the world was wicked and ever thought in man heart was only evil continually. And notice in verse 7 because of their wickedness and there sin he said I will blot man out.
Revelation 3:5 NASB95
5 ‘He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
He that overcometh….. I will not blot out his name out of the book of life.
You find in that day a wicked people sin greatly abound.
2 Thessalonians 2:7 NASB95
7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way.
tell us of the same spirit with is to come
For the mystery of lawlessness (or Iniquity) is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way. (speaking of the lawless one)
Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming
Look at some one and say come lord.
I love verse 8 because it start off with one of the most theological words in the English Bible. But!!!!
Genesis 6:8 NASB95
8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.
How did Noah find such Grace with God?
I’m glad you asked me verse 9
Genesis 6:9 NASB95
9 These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.
Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.
Righteousness will cause you to have favor with God and because of his righteous life style he was blameless in the sight of God.
The Lord is coming back for a blameless spotless people.
He is returning for a bridge with no spot or wrinkle and those who are accounted righteous in that day will be saved.
And the bible say that all the earth was corrupt and violence or unrighteousness or lawlessness filled the earth.
God was going to destroy all flesh, But God had a plan of salvation for man.
And he tell Noah to make yourself an ark.
John 3:16 NASB95
16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
If is in Christ that we can have salvation and be saved from destruction, saved from our self, saved from our sin, saved from the world and all of the results of it.
GOD HAS PREPARED A WAY OF SALAVATION AND HIS NAME IS JESUS.
Noah follow these instructions.
Now I want you to get some gopher wood.
(slide)
Gopher what??? The only place in the bible we see this wood.
Where I am going to find that?
Naw God says I got some wood special for this occasion. You gone need something that will last. When I think of the gopher wood I can’t help but think of the cross.
(slide)
2000 years ago Jesus did something on the cross that would last for all eternity.
Built it with Gopher wood and God says I want you to build the bases of your Christian walk apon what happen on the cross.
The innocent lamb of God went to the cross and died so that the guilty could find life.
It was a bloody cross, a gory cross, but it was a wonderful Cross
Noah pitch a tent make it 300 cubits in length, 50 cubits in width, and 30 cubits in height.
Verse 16 I want you to set a door on the side.
(slide)
Genesis 6:16 NASB95
16 “You shall make a window for the ark, and finish it to a cubit from the top; and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.
One door, one way in. there are two kind of people we find in this storie the one who survived and the ones that didn’t.
And the only difference between the two and who came thru the door.
Jesus says in
John 10:9 NASB95
9 “I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
You have to come to Jesus there is no other way. Not true you own intelligent, not thru your own good works, but by Grace thru faith in Jesus Christ.
For Jesus says
I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.
Not the dead Muhammad, not the confused Confuses, nor the big fat Buddha.
But there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.
It is at the name of Jesus that every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess Jesus is lord to the glory of God.
Look at someone and say “come in the door.”
One more thing before I go further notice the door is to be place at the side of the ark for an entry point. For Jesus was pierced in his side for our salvation.
He told Noah bring in every living thing of all sorts. Bring in 2by2 every creeping thing make sure you got food.
Thank you Lord clean and unclean bring them in.
That’s what we got to do in Forney compel the men to come into Christ.
2by2 clean and unclean
Fat and skinny, tall and short, white and black, Romanian and Mexican, old and young, Male and female.
Compel them to Come
The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.
Bring them into Christ and he said make sure you feed them.
He told Noah make a window for the ark and put it above.
(slide)
Don’t look down or around for your salvation look up.
Jesus says
John 8:12 NASB95
12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”
John 12:46 NASB95
46 “I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.
Christ light illuminates our lives and transforms us to what
1 Thessalonians 5:5 NASB95
5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;
It is Christ being the word and the word dispels darkness.
In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:4 NASB95
4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men.
(slide)
Make it lower, second, third deck
Build it on three level 4 things we find here.
1. We are triune beings. Body, soul, and spirit
2. Past, Present and further.
2 corinthians 1:10 “who delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope. And He will yet deliver us.”
3. Justification, sanctification, and glorification.
Justified from my past, signified in my present and I will be gloried in my further.
Don’t worry I’m almost done.
4. Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 3:16–19 NASB95
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.
God say I want you to be filled with my fullness filled with what fill me me.
Last thing that I am going to cover. Gen 6:14 make rooms in the ark.
Genesis 6:14 NASB95
14 “Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch.
(slide)
The word for rooms is the Hebrew word qen meaning nest or better translated resting pleace.
Jesus say prepare a place for me because I go to prepare a place for you.
As I was meditating on this in my heart he says Derrick I am not coming for you until first I have come in you.
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.
I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.
There is rest for the righteous
Genesis 7:1 NASB95
1 Then the Lord said to Noah, “Enter the ark, you and all your household, for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time.
God invite man in to rest from his labor
Matthew 11:28 NASB95
28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.
Notice what happen in
Genesis 7:16 NASB95
16 Those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the Lord closed it behind him.
Some of us need God to close some Door. Look at yo neighbor and say “are your door to the world closed.
Because if not you are not ready for the lord coming.
It will be as in the days of Noah.
Noah found security in his salvation because he was obedient to the word of the lord.
Are you prepared? Have you come thru the door? Does his life fill you? Are you filled with the fullness of God? Have you found rest? Has the door to the world been closed by God?
