“Humpty Dumpty” (Romans 2:12-3:30) Introduction: Our Lives Are A Mess, Chaos, Uncertainty Are Everywhere, With A Failed, Divided Government/People. What Do We Do? Where Do We Go From Here? Acknowledge That You Are A Sinner (Me Too!), Unable To Stand Before God In Righteousness, Then Receive Redemption Through Faith In Jesus Christ. Do You Remember This Nursery Rhyme? Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men Couldn’t put Humpty together again. Romans 2:12-16: All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. 13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous. 14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.) 16 This will take place on the day when God judges people’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares. 1. You Are A Sinner [Me Too!] (Romans 2:12-16, 3:1-12, Psalm 14:1-3, Psalms 53:1-3; Ecclesiastes 7:20). • The Law Cannot Save You (Jews) • Good Intentions/Works Cannot save You (Gentiles) 2. You Are Unable To Stand Before God In Righteousness [Me too!] (Romans 3:13-20, Psalm 36:1-12, Psalm 5:9, Psalm 140:3, Psalm 10:7, Isaiah 59:7-8,). • We Are All Liars, Cheats, And Thieves; Filled With Bitterness, Seeking Blood Thirsty Revenge • We Are Absolutely Unworthy of God’s Mercy, Justice, Grace, or Love 3. Receive Redemption Through Faith In Jesus Christ (Romans 3:21-26, Leviticus 16:15-17, Romans 3:27-31, Romans 16:25-27). • God’s Righteousness Surpasses Moses’ Law • God Presented Jesus Christ As “THE” Sacrifice of Atonement Here’s A Twist On The Humpty Dumpty Rhyme? Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men Couldn’t put Humpty together again. But King Jesus Can!!!!
