How can you rejoice because of this truth?
Immutability - God is perfect in his unchangeability of essence, character, purpose, and promises.
25 Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. 26 They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, 27 but you are the same, and your years have no end.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
How does this impact your daily life?
Infinitude - God has no beginning, end, or succession of moments in his own being, and he sees all time equally vividly, yet God sees events in time and acts in time.
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
26 Behold, God is great, and we know him not; the number of his years is unsearchable.
17 To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.
How should this shape how we respond to Him?
Omniscience - God has perfect knowledge of himself, all actual things outside of himself, as well as all possibilities should His will be exerted.
39 then hear in heaven your dwelling place and forgive and act and render to each whose heart you know, according to all his ways (for you, you only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind),
30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
How should this affect you today?
Omnipresence - God is perfectly present with himself, transcending all limitation of space, and yet present with every point of space with all that he is.
1 Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest?
9 You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.
How should this give you peace, joy and hope?
Omnipotence - God’s omnipotence describes his ability to do anything consistent with his nature.
14 Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, about this time next year, and Sarah shall have a son.”
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

How do you need to apply this truth in your life?
Unity/Simplicity - God’s simplicity is his indivisibility, his perfect lack of composition. This means that each of and all his perfections are his essence.
9 You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
How does this change your view of God?
Perfection - The perfection of God speaks not only of his moral perfection—that is, that he is perfectly holy, just, and good—but also that God is the sum total of all conceivable perfections.
4 “The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.
48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

“Communicable” Attributes
Spirituality & invisibility - God’s invisibility means that God’s total essence, all of his spiritual being, will never be able to be seen by us, yet God still shows himself to us through visible, created things.
20 But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.”
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.
15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him.
Because He is invisible we cannot see Him but because we are spiritual we can know Him.
Wisdom & Knowledge - God’s wisdom means that God always chooses the best goals and the best means to those goals.
33 Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
He is and gives knowledge and wisdom.
Truthfulness & Faithfulness - God’s truthfulness means that he is the true God, and that all his knowledge and words are both true and the final standard of truth.
6 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,
17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
God is the standard for truth and is therefore always faithful.
Goodness - The goodness of God means that God is the final standard of good, and that all that God is and does is worthy of approval.
8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
18 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
God is Good.
Love - God’s love means that God eternally gives of himself to others.
37 And because he loved your fathers and chose their offspring after them and brought you out of Egypt with his own presence, by his great power,
13 Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
16 So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
God is Love.
Grace - God’s grace means God’s goodness toward those who deserve only punishment.
Unmerited Favor = Getting what you don’t deserve!
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
God’s grace is not dependent on you. God’s grace is greater than your sin.
Mercy - God’s mercy means God’s goodness toward those in misery and distress.
Unearned Forgiveness = Not getting what you do deserve!
22 The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;
30 For just as you were at one time disobedient to God but now have received mercy because of their disobedience,
16 Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
God’s mercy knows no bounds.
Patience - God’s patience means God’s goodness in withholding of punishment toward those who sin over a period of time.
18 ‘The Lord is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and the fourth generation.’
9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
God is patience.
Peace & Order - God’s peace means that in God’s being and in his actions he is separate from all confusion and disorder, yet he is continually active in innumerable well-ordered, fully controlled, simultaneous actions.
Shalom = Peace = Wholeness
33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
God is the God of order.
Righteousness & Justice - God’s righteousness means that God always acts in accordance with what is right and is himself the final standard of what is right.

8 And what great nation is there, that has statutes and rules so righteous as all this law that I set before you today?
12 There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?

God is right and just.
Holiness - God’s holiness is his inherent and absolute greatness, in which he is perfectly distinct above everything outside himself and is absolutely morally separate from sin.
