We’re here for you to recognize, honor, and cherish this moment with you!
Therefore I won’t be long.
However, I’d like to challenge and remind you because 2020 has challenged us! We need y’all to get out there and pay back the year 2020!
Let me start by saying I’ve been looking forward to encouraging you and just what exactly I’d say.
Where could I get wisdom, insight, and guidance. And not just any regular wisdom or insight, but GREAT insight and wisdom. Thankfully, I didn’t have to look far.
Here’s what I’d say:
1 Corinthians 1:18 ESV
18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
A great follower of Jesus once asked:
1 Corinthians 1:20 ESV
20 Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
He walks into this beautiful city with great buildings, libraries, food, entertainment, and strength. It’d be like a modern day New York, Los Angeles, Dallas, Indianapolis, Miami, Nashville and asks… where can I have the most intellectual conversation about what it means to be wise, strong, and intelligent?
And he says, after having these conversations, some of these people seek signs for strength, and some seek human wisdom, but GOD has demonstrated wisdom that’s baffled us all.
He demonstrated a GREAT love for all who would believe in Him. And that’s the wisdom....to believe and trust this message some think foolish.

Few things about “this” wisdom I want you to prepare for:

Some think it’s foolish. That word “foolish” is the word moria where we get the word moron.
Some think it’s not nearly enough. You’ve got to add something to this. Jesus plus money. Jesus plus comfort. Jesus plus my sin.
Some think it’s TOO much! You can’t talk about my sin and someone paying a sacrifice for me. This is too much for me to possibly take in.

Those that get it

But to us being saved it’s the power of God.
The power of God is the LOVE of God.
As you head out to lead and redeem the rest of 2020 as a graduate class..... please.... do these 2 things once said by people I follow and admire.
Christ alone. That’s where your heart needs to be before you can follow it.
Don’t be consumed with learning new things. Instead…seek to practice out the things you’ve already been told.
You guys come from and are loved by great families, but you are also loved and a child of a great God.
When the world tells you it’s foolish to be passionate about the word of the cross (LOOK AT SENIORS AND SAY THEIR NAMES HERE) trust, believe, and press on to believe it’d be foolish to trust in anything else than a man who conquered all the things that seek to conquer you daily.
We love you.
Pray.
