4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Jesus told the disciples to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit.
that creates a problem for today's culture. everything in today’s culture is so fast that we don't have any idea what it means to wait.
we don’t know how to:
cook from scratch.
we don't know how to build from scratch.
tailoring/ or making hand made clothes are expensive.
everything we do happens so fast that we don't have any idea about waiting for quality.
I’m not opposed to technology. these sermon notes are written on a computer, using software used for the task.
6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
the disciples where preoccupied with the restoring the kingdom of Israel. (and maybe there own ambition.)
I think this is the same thing that I have gotten into by trying to get God to serve my will instead of serving His.
a lot of the American Christianity is trying to get God to help them achieve the American dream.
I am an American it’s where I have lived my whole life. I have a dreams. I think all people do the difference between me now and me then. is that I understand God is not serving me. I am here to serve Him.

9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
when we read the bible, we see ourselves as a the hero. often we see ourselves as “enlightened” and more “spiritual” then we are.
when we find ourselves in a meditative state we have time to think about the distance between who we are as to who we feel like.
33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
