HOOK

Yesterday on The Message we learned that many abandoned Jesus because of the hard teaching of Jesus that He it the bread of life— that whoever eat His flesh and drink His blood will see eternity
We heard three things from that:
I AM CHOSEN, I AM CALLED AND I AM BLESSED
I WILL NOT ABANDON JESUS EVEN WHEN HIS TEACHINGS GETS HARD TO ACCEPT
THERE’S NO ONE ELSE TO TURN TO OTHER THAN JESUS
After this— Jesus went around in Galilee
Let’s see what are the events that ensued while they are in Galilee
Open your Bible to John 7:1-13— if you get there, type Amen!

BOOK

John 7:1–13 NIV
1 After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders there were looking for a way to kill him. 2 But when the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles was near, 3 Jesus’ brothers said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do. 4 No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.” 5 For even his own brothers did not believe in him. 6 Therefore Jesus told them, “My time is not yet here; for you any time will do. 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that its works are evil. 8 You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.” 9 After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee. 10 However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret. 11 Now at the festival the Jewish leaders were watching for Jesus and asking, “Where is he?” 12 Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others replied, “No, he deceives the people.” 13 But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the leaders.

LOOK

WHEN THE JEWISH FESTIVAL OF TABERNACLES WAS NEAR
One of the three great festival of Israel celebrating the completion of the agricultural year— Jewish builds booth [temporary shelter] to commemorate their deliverance from Egypt
Month of Tishri — between September to Octoboer
FOR EVEN HIS BROTHERS DID NOT BELIEVE HIM
Four men are described in the Gospels as ‘brothers’ of Jesus— James, Joses, Simon and Judas [not Iscariot]
Their misunderstanding of Jesus ministry is similar to Satan’s mockery of Jesus during the temptation
It was only after Jesus resurrected when his brothers believed Him— James wrote the book of James
IT HATES ME BECAUSE I TESTIFY THAT ITS WORKS ARE EVIL
MY TIME HAS NOT YET FULLY COME
Refers to the time for Jesus glorification through crucifixion
HE WENT ALSO BUT NOT IN PUBLIC
SOME SAID HE IS A GOOD MAN. OTHERS REPLIED, NO HE DECEIVES THE PEOPLE
BUT NO ONE WOULD SAY ANYTHING PUBLICLY ABOUT HIM FOR FEAR

TOOK

GOD’S TIME IS ON TIME
I WILL NOT FEAR TO TESTIFY AGAINST EVIL
