Paul prays that they be their best in the Lord.

Love moves us to see the best in people. Love helps to change our focus on what is wrong and focus on what is good. The essence of the proverb love is blind.
Love is best expressed when we seek to see the good in people.
1 Corinthians 13:4–7 NLT
4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Pauls love for the church leads him to pray for their growth in the Lord to be their best.

Philippians 1:7–8 NLT
7 So it is right that I should feel as I do about all of you, for you have a special place in my heart. You share with me the special favor of God, both in my imprisonment and in defending and confirming the truth of the Good News. 8 God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus.
Paul’s compassion for the church guides his prayer to the Lord on their behalf. He desires for the church to grow in love to heal the issues they are dealing with.
Therefore, we learn from his prayer how to grow in love and serve the Lord and his church. Paul’s prayer is a prayer of transformation for true disciples of Christ. All who seek to follow after the Lord should look to follow him with Love, purity, blameless lives. This is in response to the transformation work of the Gospel.

Paul’s prayer for the church of Philippi.

Philippians 1:9–11 NLT
9 I pray that your love will overflow more and more, and that you will keep on growing in knowledge and understanding. 10 For I want you to understand what really matters, so that you may live pure and blameless lives until the day of Christ’s return. 11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.

Paul’s desire for the church to grow in these areas. l

Paul prays for growth in:

Your love.
Your love will overflow more and more.
Not just be full with love but overflow.
Love never fails!
Knowledge and understanding.
Understand what really matters in life.
Know how to live pure and blameless lives before the Lord until Christ’s return.
Pure and blameless lives does not mean you are perfect.
It describes you seeking to be moral in your actions.
Your heart is seeking to honor the Lord more than not.
Pure and blameless reflects a heart that is seeking the Lord more than it is not seeking the Lord.
Growing in the Lord is done with submission to the Spirit of the Lord. The Spirit of God teaches us the power of his love and give us wisdom and knowledge. We show that we understand what is good by living it out. This lifestyle will demonstrate our knowledge of the Lord.

Pray to be filled with the fruit of your salvation

Philippians 1:11 NLT
11 May you always be filled with the fruit of your salvation—the righteous character produced in your life by Jesus Christ—for this will bring much glory and praise to God.
A gain Paul prays for the church to be filled. This time filled with fruit of righteousness that is produced by Jesus Christ.

Jesus taught us how he will produce fruit in us in John 15:5.

John 15:5 NLT
5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
To produce much fruit we must remain in relationship with Jesus.
In other words we have to stay connected.
We have to remain with him to know his power.
Jesus said that this will bring glory to the father.
John 15:8 NLT
8 When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.

Let us bring glory to the Father by showing our transformation.

You transformation begins with your prayer life.
Pray to grow and overflow.
Pray for knowledge and understanding.
Pray that you know how to live pure and blameless lives.
The gift of the Holy Spirit will guide us into his presence.
Hallelujah we have been redeemed by the Lord and that we have new life and blesses fruit to show that we have been change.
