*Acts 2:14-15 ~~* But Peter, taking his stand with the *eleven*, raised his voice and declared to them: “Men of Judea and all you who live in Jerusalem, let this be known to you and give heed to my words.

Peter owns His Lord now, but He's *not alone*.

It all starts with *common ground *Drunk?

*9am, Sunday* in this particular case since that year Passover was a "*Great Sabbath*."

17‘You shall bring in from your dwelling places *two /loaves/* of bread for a wave offering, made of two-tenths /of an/ /ephah;/ they shall be of a fine flour, baked *with leaven* as first fruits to the LORD*….22*‘When

you reap the harvest of your land, moreover, you shall not reap to the very corners of your field nor gather the gleaning of your harvest; you are to leave them for the needy and the alien.

I am the LORD your God.’”*….34*“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the *Feast of Booths* for seven days to the LORD.

It is noteworthy that the holiday is called the time of the */giving/** of the Torah*, rather than the time of the /receiving/ of the Torah.

The sages point out that we are constantly in the process of receiving the Torah, that we receive it every day, but it was first given at this time.

Thus it is the giving, not the receiving, that makes this holiday significant.

*Mid-way through* we switch to the end of the "Last Days." *Revelation 6*

 

It was always so clearly a salvation *through the Jews for all* of God's creation.

*Acts 2:22-24 ~~* “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with *miracles and wonders and signs* which God performed through Him in your midst, *just as you yourselves know*— this /Man/, delivered over by the *predetermined plan and foreknowledge* of God, *you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men* and put /Him/ to death.

“But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was *impossible for Him to be held* in its power.

*Experiential evidence* from God proves God's plan.

You *can't deny* it.

Even though it's God's Will, *woe to him* who carries it out.

Choice.

*Autopilot*, who's flying the plane?

Agony of death is birth pains and *Bertram* said the Abyss couldn't hold Jesus anymore than a pregnant woman can hold her child.

*Acts 2:25-28 ~~* “For David says of Him, ‘I saw the Lord always in my presence; for He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.

‘Therefore my heart was glad and my tongue exulted; moreover my flesh also will live in hope; because You will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor allow Your Holy One to undergo decay.

‘You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of gladness with your presence.’

*Acts 2:29-33 ~~* “Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.

“And so, because he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn to him with an oath to seat /one/ of his descendants on his throne, he looked ahead and spoke of the *resurrection of the Christ*, that He was neither abandoned to Hades, nor did His flesh suffer decay.

“This Jesus God raised up again, to which we are *all witnesses*.

“Therefore having been *exalted* to the right hand of God, and having *received* from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has *poured* forth this which you both see and hear.

*NKJV Verse 30*: Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, {B} *He would raise up the Christ* to sit on his throne

 

About a *dozen *different ways to say it is Jesus we're talking about, well no kidding!

Obviously it's the Christ.

Over 500 people, *1 Corinthians 15:5-8 *~~ 5and that He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve.

6After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time, most of whom remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; 7then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles; 8and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.

*Exalted* is a vital portion and then Jesus distributes God's Spirit ~~ We receive only to pour out, not to keep; never to keep for ourself.

*Acts 2:34-36 ~~*  “For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says: ‘*The Lord said to my Lord*, “Sit at My right hand, until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”’

“Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain that God has made Him both *Lord and Christ*—this Jesus *whom you crucified*.”

*Yahweh* said to my Adonai

 

Lord is King, Christ is Savior ~~ Note Jesus is Lord ku>riov,

 

*Acts 2:37-39 ~~*  Now when they heard /this/, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “*Brethren*, what shall we do?”

Peter /said/ to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

“For the promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off, as many as the *Lord* our God will call to Himself.”

*Brethren*, Men, Brothers….

Two commands and two promises:

        1: *Repent*

        2: *Be Baptized*

               1: *Be forgiven*

               2: *Be filled with God's Holy Spirit*

 

As Lord He *demands or commands* and as Christ He *awards or rewards*

*Acts 2:40-41 ~~*  And with many other words he solemnly testified and kept on *exhorting* them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation!”

So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand souls.

*They killed Him and He holds out forgiveness*

What have we seen?

1- Start with the Holy Spirit

 

2- Start with common ground or their interest

 

3- Speak of Jesus, past, present and future

 

4- You must have the bad news before you can grasp the good news

        Without realizing the seriousness of sin we spread an anemic    Brand of Christianity.

Salvation requires repentance, which implies many other things.

Is baptism required?

No. Look at Cornelius, but it was inconceivable then, that a convert would wait to be baptized.
