Proverbs 16:18 ESV
18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Is all pride sinful?
Statements made about pride that is understanding as good.
A person takes pride in their yard.
A person takes pride in their work.
A prideful heart will lead into destruction and known humiliation. If we need an example, we can look at Nebuchadnezzar who was king of Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar achieved great success, according to how we normally classify success. People of great monetary wealth, many physical possessions, and notoriety and fame are typically considered as successful to most people.
So Nebuchadnezzar was a man of status and prestige, and his heart was full of pride.
Dan 4:30: Nebuchadnezzar made a very prideful statement.
“Is not this great Babylon, which I have built by my mighty power as a royal residence and for the glory of my majesty?”
