*Acts 14**:1-4 ~~* 1In Iconium they entered the synagogue of the Jews together, and spoke in such a manner that a large number of people believed, both of Jews and of Greeks.
2But the Jews who disbelieved stirred up the minds of the Gentiles and embittered them against the brethren.
3Therefore they spent a long time /there/ speaking boldly /with reliance/ upon the Lord, who was testifying to the word of His grace, granting that signs and wonders be done by their hands.
4But the people of the city were divided; and some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles.
*Acts 14**:5-10 ~~* 5And when an attempt was made by both the Gentiles and the Jews with their rulers, to mistreat and to stone them, 6they became aware of it and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding region; 7and there they continued to preach the gospel.
8At Lystra a man was sitting who had no strength in his feet, lame from his mother’s womb, who had never walked.
9This man was listening to Paul as he spoke, who, when he had fixed his gaze on him and had seen that he had faith to be made well, 10said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.”
And he leaped up and /began/ to walk.
*Acts 14**:11-15 ~~*11When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they raised their voice, saying in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have become like men and have come down to us.” 12And they /began/ calling Barnabas, Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.
13The priest of Zeus, whose /temple/ was just outside the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and wanted to offer sacrifice with the crowds.
14But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard of it, they tore their robes and rushed out into the crowd, crying out 15and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things?
We are also men of the same nature as you, and preach the gospel to you that you should turn from these vain things to a living God, who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and all that is in them.
*Acts 14**:16-20 ~~ *16“In the generations gone by He permitted all the nations to go their own ways; 17and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”
18/Even/ saying these things, with difficulty they restrained the crowds from offering sacrifice to them.
19But Jews came from Antioch and Iconium, and having won over the crowds, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.
20But while the disciples stood around him, he got up and entered the city.
The next day he went away with Barnabas to Derbe.
*Acts 14**:21-23 ~~ *21After they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, 22strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and /saying,/ “Through *many* tribulations we *must* enter the kingdom of God.” 23When they had appointed elders for them in every church, having prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.
*James 1:2 ~~* 2Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, 3knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.
4And let endurance have /its/ perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
12Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which /the Lord/ has promised to those who love Him.

*Galatians 1:6 ~~* I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel
Matthew 10:32 “Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.
33“But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.
34“Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
35“For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; 36and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household.
37“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. 38“And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. 39“He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.
*Philippians 1:27* Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; 28in no way alarmed by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God. 29For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake, 30experiencing the same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
1 Thessalonians 3:3 so that no one would be disturbed by these afflictions; for you yourselves know that we have been destined for this.
4For indeed when we were with you, we kept telling you in advance that we were going to suffer affliction; and so it came to pass, as you know.
5For this reason, when I could endure it no longer, I also sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the tempter might have tempted you, and our labor would be in vain
If Jesus, Paul or I, only preach when it's safe we can avoid suffering.
We can ignore bad doctrine or behavior and the unsaved for harmony
A.W. Tozer: "We can afford to suffer now; we'll have a long eternity to enjoy ourselves.
And our enjoyment will be valid and pure, for it will come in the right way in the right time."

*Acts 14**:24-28 ~~ *24They passed through Pisidia and came into Pamphylia.
25When they had spoken the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.
26From there they sailed to Antioch, from which they had been commended to the grace of God for the work that they had accomplished.
27When they had arrived and gathered the church together, they /began/ to report all things that God had done with them and how He had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.
28And they spent a long time with the disciples.
1CO 11:23-34 ~~ The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, AThis is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.@
In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, AThis cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.@
For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord=s death until he comes.
Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.
A man ought to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.
For anyone who eats and drinks without recognizing the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.
Lk 22:21&22 ~~ But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.
The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed, but woe to that man who betrays him.@
JN 13:26-27 ~~ Jesus answered, AIt is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish.@
Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas Iscariot, son of Simon.
27As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.
Lk 22 & Mt 26 & Mk 14 ~~ And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, Take, eat, this is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, This is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
