Notes
Transcript

As we celebrated Mother's Day at Christlike Ministries A Church Without Walls II, Bishop Bryan N. Walker Sr. shared a beautiful memory of his mother. Other members did the same as we paid tribute to those who raised us!

The Message: A Model of Motherhood

Scripture: 1 Kings 3:16-27

Speaker: Pastor Lewis Finney

Hymn of Preparation: Amazing Grace (Aretha Franklin) 💞

The story of Solomon's wisdom being tested begins with a harlot standing before him. (Two women were claiming to be the child's mother). There is a proper protocol to be before the king. But this woman had an issue regarding her child, and she did what needed to be done.

In her demonstrated model of motherhood:

(1) She persevered

The mother presses onward to get in the king's presence. She had to push, press, and pray! She needed to see the one who had the final say regarding her child! (In verse 21, she learned her baby was switched our for a dead baby).

(2) She examined the situation

She refused to accept anything less than the truth! A mother will not settle for less than the best regarding her child(ren).

(3) She sacrificed

As a mother, sacrifices must be made for the sake of a child. Sometimes it means having to do without. We all (not just mothers) have to sacrifice sometimes. (Verse 26 - One mother was willing to give up the child to spare his life while the other was willing to divide it).

We all have had someone pour into us and make sacrifices for us, whether it was our mother or our mother figure. We should demonstrate the redemptive quality of being an example, pouring into someone else, and being a model of motherhood!
