Take My Hand
Take My Hand This morning, we’re continuing our study on the topic of the discipline of guidance. The definition of Guidance is: the act of guiding or showing the Way. Showing -> The Way I thought that was pretty cool! Each of the spiritual disciplines, when understood and applied to our lives produce a corresponding freedom. The freedom we find in guidance is that it frees us from boring religion (all), so we can experience the supernatural of God. Our key portion of scripture today is Psalm 32:1-8, specifically focusing on v8 today. 8 I hear the Lord saying, “I will stay close to you, instructing and guiding you along the pathway for your life. I will advise you along the way and lead you forth with my eyes as your guide. - - I don’t know if you saw it in the verses we read (the discipline of confession)? Amen!! 1. So, let’s talk about His guidance - We have the promise of His Guidance We know: • He is able • He is willing • His desire is to guide us (Ps 73:24; Pr 3:5,6; Acts 9:6) The nature of His Guidance • It’s divine guidance - Isa 55:9 (higher!) • It’s personalized & corporate - Acts 15 • It’s practical - exodus - pillars (Ps 23!; Isa 55:8-9; Ps 121:1-2; Acts 15 &16; Ex 13) 2. How can we experience this in our lives? - • Be humble! (If my people) • Seek Him out and be watchful ▪ Follow the guidance He gives by His word - hidden your word in my heart ▪ Follow the guidance He gives by His spirit - (paraclete, our helper) • Transformed by the renewing of your mind - (Ro 12:2; producing fruit Gal 5:22) • Surrender Your will & plans, submit to His (2 Chr 7:14; Micah 6:8; 2 Ti 2:15; Ps 119:105; Jn 14) 3. What’s next? • Ask Him to show how to lead your family • Ask Him to show you how to pray for your country, leaders, workplaces, etc • Ask Him to show you those in your life that He’s placed there for you to Show the Way to. • Ask Him to show you His plan for your life and how to step out of your comfort zone Illustration: What have I learned during this time? Simplicity! He’s just looking for a people who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. Let me show you what I believe He showed me as I was preparing for this message. Here’s His question to me. Which one do you think I prefer? Illustration #1 Illustration #2 Guys, it’s #2, EVERY TIME> He wants a relationship with us and for us to have one with each other!!! Conclusion: Let’s go back to our scripture from above and finish it out - Psalm 32:9-11 TPT • I don’t know about you, but I don’t want religion, I want a relationship. I am tired of being in “church” and “playing church”. We serve a master who has saved us and has called us friends, telling us all His plans and His ways. We don’t need to “play church” any longer, we need to do what we hear and see Him doing! Sermon in a sentence: With all of the voices fighting for your attention, which one are you listening to? Mt 6:24 - No one can serve two masters… • Are you showing others the Way! Invitation Jn 14:23-24, 26-27 23 Jesus replied, “Loving me empowers you to obey my word. And my Father will love you so deeply that we will come to you and make you our dwelling place. 24 But those who don’t love me will not obey my words. 26 But when the Father sends the Spirit of Holiness, the One like me who sets you free, he will teach you all things in my name. And he will inspire you to remember every word that I’ve told you. 27 “I leave the gift of peace with you—my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. • If you would like to accept Jesus, to really love Him, pray with me. Truth - Ro 8:4 4 So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit!
