Introduction:

Preaching of Peter
*1.      **His Method*
a.
It was short and straight to the point

He wasn’t trying to win adoring fans, he was trying to reach precious souls through the Spirit filled preaching of the word of God.

He directed it to the mind, giving instruction.

To the heart, producing enthusiasm

To the conscience, resulting in conviction

To the will, leading to a decision
b.
It was simple, plain and clear

Everyone could understand exactly what he was saying, even though it was against the historic background they were familiar with.
1.       Peter did not preach in tongues, but in the everyday Aramaic that they understood.
ii.
They heard him gladly: “gladly received the word”
                                                            iii.
He spoke with simplicity
1.       Mark 12:37 "37David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he/ then/ his son?
And *the common people heard him gladly*."
2.       Does that mean the people of means would have to humble themselves?
3.       Matthew 18:3-4 "3And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

He preached clearly and loudly

The New Testament contains no such example, but Scriptural preaching of the gospel appeals to the mind, the heart, the conscience and the will.

Isaiah 1:18 "18Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

We need to clearly instruct when it comes to the gospel message.
1.       Acts 5:42 "42And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ."
2.       Matthew 13:19 "19When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and *understandeth/ it/ not*, then cometh the wicked/ one/, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart.
This is he which received seed by the way side."
3.       People must have a firm understanding of the gospel.
They must know what they are doing and have done.
4.       Too many rush through and leave the people with  glimpse of the truth, but no real understanding
5.       Matthew 13:23 "23But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and *understandeth/ it/*; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

The right kind of preaching produces a firm understanding of the gospel message that the hearer will not forget.

Paul’s challenge to Timothy: 2 Timothy 4:2 "2*Preach the word*; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."

16But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; 17And it shall come to pass *in the last days*, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: 18And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: 19And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke: 20The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: 21And it shall come to pass,/ that/ whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
