During this crazy time, it would be easy to become discouraged about the prospects of job loss or having to do something different. You may think that you can’t do something different or even better because it’s just too late for you. That’s simply not true.
God is not done with you even if you feel like it.
Years ago, a friend of mine was in a car accident that nearly killed him. It took months of rehab to recover. He resigned from his ministry position and really thought God was done with him. He was ready to work at Walmart or something. But all of a sudden, colleges and different ministries and church’s began seeking him out asking him to lead their organization or to be part of it. It was amazing and God led him back into ministry in a different direction.
It’s not too late for you to be successful at what God wants you to do.

In todays devotional, there is a great story about Samuel Morse.
Samuel Morse dreamed of being a great painter… an artist. He traveled to Paris to pursue his dream as he threw himself into becoming a painter. His dad had told him that to be great at something required focus. “Put all of your energy into one thing at a time.” After a period of time and a series of setback, Samuel Morse knew he would not be successful as a painter, so he quit. Samuel’s next thing was the telegraph. If Samuel Morse had not stopped painting, we would not have had the telegraph when we did nor would we have had the universal language of Morse Code.

The good news is that God can give you success early in life, during middle age or late in life. If Samuel Morse had quit after painting, we would never have had Morse Code. If Samuel Morse had not stopped painting, he would never have developed Morse Code.
In order to grasp what God is giving you to be successful in, you have to turn loose of the thing you have failed in.

It may be a job, or a business idea… it may have been something you did successfully but now is not. Things change, the world changes. Geared to the times… Our approaches in presenting the Gospel change, but the message does not. To move into what God wants you to do … to be successful in, you must turn loose of the past.

The prophet said that old men will dream dreams.
George Forman was the Heavy weight champion of the world in boxing. He made a good amount of money but the career of a boxer is short. After only being able to get fights that paid a few thousand because he was over weight and out of shape, a friend taught him how to eat healthy. Part of this regimen was the use of a small grill. One day, his wife suggested that instead of just using the grill for himself, he should put his name on it so people would buy more of them. It worked as over 100,000,000 George Forman grills have been sold. George Forman, a believer in Christ, made more money off of the grill than he did as a prize fighter.
The prophet said that old men will dream dreams. Just because you may be at a cross roads, or a place where you think you could not do anything else, God will open up a door… he will give you an idea.
How do we get these new ideas? We pray and ask God for them.
Ask God for direction.
Ask God for direction.
Ask him to use you as he sees fit, and when he answers, be ready to follow him in a new direction… just like Samuel Morse, George Forman, Nokia, GE, and so many others.
