Romans 5:6 CSB
For while we were still helpless, at the right time, Christ died for the ungodly.
QUESTION: WHAT DAY IS IT???
In times like these, I find it easy to lose track of the day…or the season. That’s why I’m dressed for football rather than baseball season. Today just feels like football weather. Sometimes it’s challenging to remember—or to know—what the right day, or season, is. Anyway...
As we look to the Scripture this Sunday, we will be looking at Romans 5 verses 1-11, with a focus on verses 6-11. Today, I draw us to focus on one verse. [Read Romans 5.6] …And in this one verse, I draw your attention and mine to just one phrase: “κατὰ καιρὸν” — “at the right time.”
SO. We see here that as Paul shares some of the wonderful consequences/blessings of the righteous living by faith, he affirms a significant and dare I say ‘timeless’ truth which relates to that on which he focuses in these sentences…and yet so much more!
Even though, according to our typical way of thinking, Jesus dying on the cross could seem ‘out of season,’ or ‘off regarding the timing,’ here the Bible says that Jesus dying on the cross for sinners was precisely, exactly, perfectly “at the right time.” Even the most challenging of objections (tune in Sunday to hear more about that) doesn’t change a that fact one bit!
Since God, in his majestic, sovereign providence, perfectly timed the most significant event for all our lives (the death, burial, & resurrection of our Lord accomplishing our eternal salvation)… I am certain that his hand, working in all our lives, will accomplish his purpose....provide us exactly what we need…and bring him glory…at this time as well.
See you guys this Sunday morning at 10am for our live-stream worship service. Love y’all. Later!
