HOOK

Previously on “The Message”— Jesus healed an unbeliever— a man who do not know him and had been invalid for 38 years for no one helped him into the pool where it traditionally believed that when its water began to stir brings healing to those who are in it
There was a Jewish Festival so Jerusalem was super crowded at that time— Jesus set the staged for His very important declaration of His authority as the Son of God
Jewish leaders started persecuting for He healed the man and told him to stand up, walk and carry his mat— they even thought of killing Jesus because of his declaration— calling God His Father— to them that’s blasphemy
This morning I will lead you to the continuation of the Lord’s declarations— remember, earlier Jesus already made some strong statements that:
He is the Son of God
He and the Father are One
Their acts are synchronized— Him and the Father are equal
God is always at work
He will show us even greater things
Open you Bible— we’ll pick it up from verse 22 all the way to the end of this section

BOOK

John 5:22–30 NIV
22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent him. 24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. 25 Very truly I tell you, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. 27 And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. 28 “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice 29 and come out—those who have done what is good will rise to live, and those who have done what is evil will rise to be condemned. 30 By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.

LOOK

ENTRUSTED JUDGMENT TO THE SON
Clearly Jesus said, the Father judges no one— the authority to judge is entrusted to Jesus
MAY HONOR THE SON
Jesus said that this delegation of authority was done so that “everyone” may honor Him
WHOEVER HEARS THE WORD AND BELIEVES
Jesus is saying, it is not enough just to hear the Word— we need to believe it to have eternal life
VERY TRULY I TELL YOU, A TIME IS COMING
Jesus is telling them and us that the everyone will come to the “Judgment Seat of Christ” AND “The Day of the Lord” [End of the World, Final Judgment, Great White Throne, The Last Judgment] is sure to come. I will explain this on my next point.
HE HAS GIVEN HIM THE AUTHORITY TO JUDGE
It is believed— And I agree with the belief that there will be Two Judgements
The Judgment Seat of Christ— When a person dies or raptures comes— He or she will be judge where to spend eternity. To those who believed this matter is settled [John 3:16]. However, He will determine the degree of eternal rewards believers deserve, based on their needs
2 Corinthians 5:10 NIV
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.
The Day of the Lord [Great White Throne, The Last Judgment]— will take place on the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ— at the end of history when Jesus will judge the deeds of all mankind— this involves unbelievers— those who lived independently of the Lord— it takes place after the rapture, after the Judgment Seat of Christ, tribulation, millennial reign of Christ and the battle of the Armageddon— It evaluates the deeds of those who never accepted Jesus
Revelation 20:11–15 NIV
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Finally, MY JUDGMENT IS JUST
Jesus said His judgment is just— He is not just a loving God but also He is a just God
Make no mistake! God’s Word is clear that all people [saved or not] will face judgment— Believers will answer for their deeds at the Judgment Seat of Christ— and the lost will face Him at the Great White Throne.
