*Place: Bucknall AOG.
Date: Sunday am 21st September 2008.*
*Text: Acts 17:1-6.
Theme: They turned the world upside down.*
*Introduction:                Reading: Acts 17:1-6.*
\\ \\
*          “Now when they (had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came) to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.
*
*Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures, explaining and demonstrating that the Christ had to suffer and rise again from the dead, and saying, “This Jesus whom I preach to you is the Christ.”*
*And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas.
*
*          But the Jews who were not persuaded, becoming envious, took some of the evil men from the marketplace, and gathering a mob, set all the city in an uproar and attacked the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
*
*But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”
*

First note: Two men, Paul and Silas were *“turning the world upside down for God.”** *This city was afraid of them coming to their town.
Paul and Silas never turned the world upside down they turned the world THE RIGHT WAY UP.
The devil had already turned the world upside down a long time before.
What Paul and Silas were trying to do was fixing it, and turns things RIGHT SIDE UP!
I believe that this world that God made was the RIGHT WAY UP, God created a perfect world for a perfect couple, named Adam and Eve.
YET they allowed SIN in.
Because of SIN they saw themselves naked before God, they lost their paradise, and sadly the Devil took control over this world, he because the “Prince of the air.”
Sin and the Devil turned God’s perfect world upside down.
Now God is looking for men and women who will turn this world the RIGHT WAY UP AGAIN!
There are more than two of us here, so what are we doing for our area?
Can I say that ONE YOUNG MAN named Evan Roberts, changed Wales, so that 100,000 people were saved in 18 months.
So what could TWO MEN DO?
A man was shovelling snow in his driveway when two boys came along with shovels and said, “Hey Mister, can we shovel your driveway only £5?”
He said, “Cannot you see I am doing that?”
“Yes sir, that’s why we asked, we get most of our business from people who are halfway through and feel like quitting,”
Unfortunately, today there are a lot of people quitting on God.
But the Apostle Paul never quit and never gave up!
After deliverance through an earthquake from the prison at Philippi, most of us would have decided to go back home, but Paul and Silas continued preaching the gospel.
Paul was only in Thessalonica for three weeks, and yet he founded a great New Testament church during that time.
This church started out of a riot.
Paul was winning people to Lord, and suddenly a riot erupted, because when you preach the gospel, not everybody is going to like it.
The devil is constantly battling a Bible-preaching church, from without or from within, or both!
It takes determination for Christians to say:
1.
I do not want to be used of the devil to be a hindrance to God’s work, even if it is by accident, but I want to be used of God to help in His work!
2. I do not want to be a discourager, but an encourager!
3. I do not want to be a stumbling block, but a stepping stone!
God can help turn this world around again; He can turn our world the RIGHT SIDE UP AGAIN!
We should all focus on turning wrongs into rights.
God wants each of us to turn OUR world the RIGHT SIDE UP! Our worlds include workplaces, schools, families, and our homes.
Paul demonstrated the Saviour in two ways: in his WORSHIP and his WALK.
\\ \\
*1ST POINT: IN HIS WORSHIP.*
*Acts 17:2 *
*“Then Paul, as his custom was, went in to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with them from the Scriptures.”
*

Paul demonstrated the Saviour in his worship.
He knew that on God’s day he was to be in God’s house with God’s people, studying God’s Word.
Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it, how do you feel about it?
*Hebrews 10:25 “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching.”*
Paul went *“as his manner was.”*
He knew the fact that the devil does not take days off and neither should we from serving God, it is hard work to be faithful, but it pays!
Some one said “Shame on the Christian who treats the holy day as a holiday.”
You see, we will never turn our world RIGHT SIDE UP if we are not excellent in our worship, the most basic building block of serving God.
Paul demonstrated the Saviour in his worship.
\\ \\ *2ND POINT: IN HIS WALK.
Acts 17:4 *
*“And some of them were persuaded; and a great multitude of the devout Greeks, and not a few of the leading women, joined Paul and Silas.”
*

Paul was winning people to the Lord.
Everywhere Paul went he left behind a trail of new converts.
Now be honest: What kind of trail do we leave behind?
*Psalm 23 says “surely goodness and mercy shall “follow me.”*
If you want to turn your world RIGHT SIDE UP, here is the key: \\ Let them see Jesus in you!
Demonstrated the Saviour in your worship, and in your walk.
\\ *CONCLUSION:*

*“These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.”
*
If God can use Paul and Silas to TURN THEIR WORLD THE RIGHT WAY UP, by turning their world upside down.
Why cannot we turn our world upside down?
BY PUTTING IT THE RIGHT WAY UP! God first, then the blessings!
