Part 3: A Holy Life
First, What does holiness mean?
- “holy” = “whole”, “complete”
- Hebrew - qadash = “that which belongs to God
- Greek - hagios = “place of reverence or fear,” “that which is sacred”
- “holiness” is not about rules but rather perfect love and godly relationships (Leviticus 19:3-37; 1 Peter 1:22)
Second, Whatever God Requires, He Provides.
- Jesus makes a close relationship with God possible for us.
- John 14:6
- 1 Peter 1:21
- Hebrews 10:19-22
- Hebrews 10:10
- Holiness flows from Christ’s provision, which is why this passage begins with a “Therefore” (1 Peter 1:13).
Response: Leviticus 20:7, “Consecrate yourselves (our part) and be holy, because I am the Lord your God. Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the Lord, who makes you holy (His part)."
