I have really really appreciate it. I'm being sincere and being honest here really appreciated the fact I do get text messages and I try to send text messages out even emails or even on social media whatever way it is. Let's greet one another. Let's send an email. Let's say two were thinking about you and praying for you and I think that's a really good way to really share the love of God in the midst of us not being able to do it in person and maybe even give a phone call and talk to people because there are people that we've spoken to hear the church and they really do appreciate it when somebody calls them and I'm going to be sincere, you know, sometimes our pastor call you it's it's awesome, especially when I call you of course, but it's awesome to call but I didn't seem time when a congregational member called you it feels extra special. There's is a I know it's a different level, so please Call Lex tax. Let's email let social media, whatever. Maybe let's connect with one another. So now we're going to take our tithes and offering. So if you've been giving you know, I already said that you can get with it the tidy up if you're connected with that. Awesome. If you're not connected, I encourage you to connect there are different ways. We can pick up your offering we can you can mail it to us. If you wanted to you can drive it out driving up here to the church, and there is we just open the door. You don't have to get close to us if you don't want and you can just drop it off there, and we are here on during office hours. So please feel free. So I'm just going to I actually have an offer to hear and I'm going to give it right over here. So Paso I've got another one. Hold on. Hold on one second. I've got another one from last week. So and I'll wait a second level in Safford.

Okay. Okay. It's a big offering about 2. So but please send in your offerings. And so things are still running here in the church was still doing everything we possibly can and yeah, we're just believing for the best. Let's take a moment. Let's pray for our giving and let's continue with a service. Father we thank you so much for this offering. We thank you so much for every person that gives I know it's a difficult time and people have to sacrifice for different aspects father. We just pray for people who may be struggling in our church when unemployment or finances or there's just nervousness about that father. I pray for peace and people's hearts. I pray Lord that they may be safe in their jobs. I pray the Lord add a the people who do need jobs. They will find work and that they will all stay healthy as they're going to work of course respecting social distancing father by the same time that they're staying healthy and strong. I thank you for your goodness. I thank you Lord of you are our provider Lord, we trust and lean on you for everything that we don't rely and Trust in our paychecks and I'll wait till we're getting our finances are primary trust is in you you are an awesome and wonderful God and we're so thankful father that were able to give to you and to your work in your mighty name. amen

Morning, I like Baptist. We were trying to think of some things that you might possibly be doing at home. And I know a lot of you are readers and if you have some extra time and we thought we would come up with a couple of book ideas for you so that you could possibly order them online or you may already have it in your library or you could possibly even order the audiobook. So there's a lot of different options when it comes to Christian books that are out there. So I'm actually showing you one of my favorite series is called Pauly little Paulie little wrote this book. I believe forces know what you believe and it's really a Christianity 101 Paul wrote These for a university and college students people who wear may be questioning their face at the time or had no idea what Christianity was about and he did he did such a great job with this book. It's each chapter is divided up into different topic that as Polarity of these books crew he wrote know who you believe and know why you believe and he's a great author. The the thing about Paulie little is that he died as a young man. He died. I believe in a car accident and so we don't have much from him when it comes to his writings other than the series but I always recommend this series if you know someone who is new Too Faced or if you can share this with someone who doesn't know much about Christianity any one of these books is great. But if you want to place to start I know what you believe and I also recommend needs to be moving Christians for a long time and part of the reason why is because sometimes you just need a refresher you need a reminder of why the gospel is so good. You need a reminder of the good news and each one of these books does that they're not written to

At too high a level that you can understand high school students can pick up these pretty easy college and university student level that says is great for them. And then for anyone who's an adult and you can get the my audiobook so you can listen them or you can order them offline and read them at home. So hopefully this is something you can use for the time that you have by yourself. God bless.

I want you to imagine something with me for a moment. Imagine that you get an invitation from the prime minister of Canada in your mail. And if the invitation says you're going to receive the Order of Canada visit going to be a big thing for you. You also noticed that on that day others will be receiving the order of Canada your favorite hockey player of all time Wayne Gretzky is going to be there and he's going to receive the Order of Canada and then your favorite Canadian singer of all time and Marie she's going to be there receiving the order of Canada as well, but not only that but you also hear that the Queen of England is actually going to be visiting Canada and she's going to be part of the ceremony and after the ceremony they're inviting you back to have dinner with the queen and you're going to have that whole evening to have an opportunity to bask in the glory of the great things that you've done that they are. Highlighting as you received the Order of Canada and as you read through the invitation you realize that the date of this time when you are to receive this award is actually the same day as your daughter's wedding. You pause for a moment and you need to make a decision. What is more important for you? Is it more important for you to receive the state of Glory or is it more important for you to keep the relationship with your daughter? I know what I would choose and my guess is that the majority of us would choose the same thing. We would probably get our daughter to change the wedding date and we would be glad and happy to give up all of that attempt at glory for receiving the order of Canada and give up meeting those people why because the relationships with our own children are much more important than that. Now the question and why I bring this up is because we always need to ask ourselves the question of what Are we more inclined to? What is it that our soul is mostly inclined to because if our soul is mostly inclined to this world our Focus will be on this world. If our soul is inclined to money, if our souls inclined to something else it takes our focus and our direction away from Christ. And so that is part of what I'm talking about today on this ongoing series of what is it that Jesus wants from us if you recall last week, we began this series and we started talking about you know, what is it that Jesus wants us wants from us and I we had talked about that he wants us to believe in him because you have seen me you have believed. This is Jesus speaking to Thomas. He's a blessed are those who have not seen me yet believe or in 1st Peter. 18 though. We have not seen him you love him. And even though you do not see him now you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious Joy. You've given up this world in many ways for something that you have not seen something that is invisible. Your love and your focus is for one that you have not physically seen but by faith we know and we believe who Christ is and what he has done to the gospel accounts did the Miracles that we have experienced and seen it in our own lives. But also what is on display in the Bible and that's what we focused on last week we talked about how fast is not specifically only in the existence of God buttface in what God promises and what he can do and I wanted to use this illustration. It's an illustration of use before it's an illustration that has to do with it with a chair. It's it's like we all believe in chairs in the existence of chairs, but every time you approach a chair and you look at it, you make an assessment of whether you really have faith not an existence of the chair, but the ability for the chair to do with the chair says it's going to do which is to provide you with a safe and comfortable seat if you Got a dilapidated chair. You're like I'm not going to sit on that because I don't have faith that it can actually do what it says. It's going to do you thought that you doubt its existence, but you doubt its ability or its capability to do what you needed to do. And so it is the same with when Christ calls us to believe in him. Do I have faith do I believe that Christ is able to save me for my sins to forgive to save me from the wrath of God and to bring me to a place of eternal life through receiving his righteousness. And that was our first command. What does Jesus want from you? He wants you to believe in him our next one our next Focus this week has much more to do with the sort of supreme focus upon our life the same the Supreme force that directs us and motivates Us in most directions in our life and that has to do with love and I kind of alluded to this when I gave you the illustration at the beginning is the motivating factor for choosing your daughter's wedding over visiting meeting the queen and receiving. The order of Canada has to do with the love that you would have for your daughter if you think about your what your soul is inclined to it's it's the love factor that so often directs how we behave and our actions in our lives. And so This is exactly what Jesus is talking about. When he asks this question, what does Jesus want from us? He wants us to come to him. Jesus has come to me this command for frost to come to him is more often in scripture. I think than some of us really realize and so I want to examine some of those that that we look at today and part of examining this is looking at that Supreme treasure in our life. What is the most important thing and that's what Jesus talks about when he talks about coming to him his that have we obtained in our lives? Reliance not only a Reliance but a love for Christ that when we come to him, we forsake all other things and that's part of what I want to look at. So if you have your Bible with Q as going to be on the screen behind me, but if you have your Bible would like to follow along we're going to be reading from The Book of Matthew. Matthew 11 25 to 30 and it focuses around the statement that is made by Jesus in Matthew 11:28. Come to me all you are tired and weary or all you who are labored and heavy laden and I will give you rest come to me is the call. So listen to the words of Christ found in first. Sorry found in Matthew 11 25 to 30. I'm at time. Jesus said I praise you father Lord of Heaven and Earth because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned it and revealed them to the little children. Yes Father for this was your good pleasure. All things have been committed to me by my father. No one knows the son except except the father and no one knows the father except the son and those who the son chooses to reveal him. Come to me. All you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. What Jesus demands or calls us to at this time is not something bird burdensome in our lives. What he is talking about is he is not trying to make us have more Rules and Things to follow but what he is speaking to us when he is calling us is he is calling us to a time of joy that is inexpressible. It has these things. He says I speak to you that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be full. So part of his call to us is that we would come to him for our own benefit. So sometimes we have the weight of the world upon us. Part of the reason why the way of the world seemed so much upon us is because we possibly have our priorities in the wrong order. There's this story about a group called The Flying Wallendas send the flying Wallendas were a type rope walking group. They've been around for their their family and they've been around for many years while they used to be part of the Ringling Brothers Circus end and I think have carried that on for many years. They have this wonderful sort of act where they would create this pyramid a three or four. To your pyramid and they would put a girl on top and they would maintain that pyramid as they walked across a tightrope. It was it was a spectacular feet and very difficult to do and they were the only ones who were really doing it in the world at the time. However, one particular evening that the show was about to conclude. It was the it was the highlight event of the night and the wall Endo setup. To go across this wire as they reached about two-thirds of the way across one of the young men DD will end up his knees begin to shake and I he yelled out at that time because I cannot hold on any longer and as the minute you couldn't hold it any longer the whole pyramid collapsed many floors below one died and some of his family ended up crippled. I'm wondering in your life if you've ever felt like that. Like BB Wallenda where you just yell out, I can't hold on any longer. We have pressures right now of isolation. I one of the ways that we punish people is through isolation. We have pressures of this covid-19 pandemic people are worried about jobs. That's cool. Maybe the amount of homework homework you children are doing your parents maybe because you can't connect with them friends worries about what is happening in some of those pressures we tend to take out on those that we love. And so in our lives we say well what can Christ possibly do for me? You see the church even Heart Lake Baptist Church is it doesn't exist to make your life more difficult or in Waze give you things that that you are unable to handle the church is meant to be a support system that helps you survive in this world until even with what we are doing now. Our hope is that this would be an encouragement to you that our time together each week would be something that helps you and encourages you and you may be willing to share that with others. But when Jesus when your knees begin to buckle and you're at that point where you say I can't hold on any longer. Where do you turn? Many people turn to other things in this world some turn to drugs some turn to the bottle some try and and isolator or move away. Some people think that changing their lifestyle in in certain ways or or removing others out of their lives may be the answer but Jesus gives us the answer right here in this chapter. He says to us come to me. If you are weary and burdened and I will give you rest and the call is for all come to me all all of you who are tired or weary or burden or heavy laden. However. You want to translate that and I will give you rest you see God one of the reasons why I always joke that I am a Christian. Is because God has a commandment where he commands us to take a day of rest a holy day and give it to him. God knows you need rest right from the creation of the world on the 7th Day. God himself rested and He commands us to rest. So you're like I've had enough rest I need something to do. But when were talking about this rest we're not only talking about sleep. We're talking about rest for our souls. And where do we find that we we all look to physical things in our lives. Hey, I'm going to go to the gym and I'm going to work out so that I'm physically strong or I got to spend time and work on, you know, improving my mind. But how many how often do we take time and spend time having rest for our souls? And where do we find that the only place to find that is in Christ? And so that is the call on our lives out of the seven days that we have we are to give one toward rest and I love that fact because it's like we're not working today. We're going to try and rest and we're going to give our day to God. There are six different aspects of rest that you find in the scriptures. There's the creation rest the problem with the creation races has broken by sin in Genesis. 22 we have this rest of redemption which is secured by Christ. There is the Sinners rest, which we are called to come to cry so that we might rest in him Matthew 11:28 the Saints rest when we commune with Christ in Mark 6:30, and then Jesus often speaks about this paradise rest this rest that comes to us when we get to Paradise Revelation, 16:13 and 2nd Corinthians 5 one day. I don't know about you but I long I look forward to the day when we are in Paradise in heaven with Christ and we get to rest with him and which is why I think Psalm 23 appeal so much to us and it speaks about this eternal rest in the future Hebrews 9 Syracuse for a 9 in Revelation 22:5. To Jesus. This is not the only place where he calls us to come to him. Come to him if you are tired and weary and I will give you rest, but he also says to us in John 7:37 if anyone is thirsty if anyone thirsts. Let him come to me. And drink let him come to me. So Jesus is asking us to come to me and I will give you rest come to me and I will give you something to drink if you ever thirsted. I give you really know what thirst is if you've ever been out in the scorching heat for a long. Of time and not being able to have something to drink. You know, what thirst is Jesus also tells us come to me because I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will not hunger. I am the bread of life. Come to me come to me and you won't hunger. It's the same call when he's talking to us about coming to me because you will find rest for your souls come to me because you will if you're if you're hungry or thirsty, I am the Living Water. I am the bread of life. If you want true life come to me because I say come learn from me or come learn the scriptures from me was the scriptures to me. He's as come to me come to the person of who I am because I am the life giver and that's who he is. These are you there claims that you and I would never make about ourselves. I would never say that I am the bread of life because I'm not the one who gives life. I would never say that I am in the Water of Life of the Living Water because I I don't give you life. But for Christ to make these claims if you think about it, people say what Jesus was a good teacher know. He was a great teacher best teacher that ever lived but he is not only a teacher write the word that he says when he tells you to come to him. It is a physical sort of coming and approach and that becomes the the simplest yet. The most difficult thing that we could ever do in our lives. He calls us because he wants to Deliver Us from the perishing in our lives. I don't know if you've ever seen the the movie called passed away. It's a story about Tom Hanks. He's a FedEx the airplane employee and and he's flying in this business plane and it goes down and it and he becomes a deserted on this sat on this island. One of the things that he when he first gets there that he attempts to do is find something to drink and he realizes that you know around him. He can't find any freshwater. So all we can find our these coconut but the problem is he has nothing to open the Coconuts with he he takes different as he beat some against The Rock He uses a sharp Stone to get the knife to make it like a knife and get the husk off. And then he he breaks. The he finally he's so thirsty. He takes the coconut and he breaks it on the ground against That Rock And as all of the the liquid inside the coconut Spilled Out he tries to hold it up to his nothing. He gets those finals Smalls little drops. Jesus is not calling you to just a few little drops, but if you are thirsty when Jesus is talking about food, if you're hungry come to me, if you are thirsty come to me if you need rest come to me you not you not talking about only your physical need for food or your physical need for drink or your physical need for rest. He is talking about spiritual things. Have you ever thought about this? Why is it to live that you need to eat food and that you need to eat food regularly? Why does God make it so that we have to sleep every single night to be refreshed or why does God make it to that? We have to drink all of these daily activities that you and I do have a spiritual connotation to it. All of these things that are important to us in our lives that we do everyday. They almost become just like okay. This is something that I have to do. But why do you have to do it? Why do you think God made us this way? because they all Point as so many things do in our lives if you are unable to see this they all point back to the spiritual connection that we have with God because the call to drink When were thirsty to call to have food when we're hungry and the call to have rest. I'll come back to the bread of life. The Living Water and the one who we come to when we are tired and weary and need rest for our souls. So Jesus makes this statement to us and this is my true love call to us today. He says this he says the scriptures speak about me. He says they tell you cuz you search for them because you're searching for eternal life. This is in John. 5:39. 240 says you search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life. You think that in the word you have eternal life. editor's day This is the scriptures when Jesus Italian about you talking about the Old Testament at this time because the New Testament is not written he speaking to that the Pharisees and the Sadducees. He says he says they bear witness about me. YouTube look there words on a page, but they bear witness about him. And he says yet you refuse to come to me that you might have life. You should we can search the entire world. We can even search the Bible for eternal life and they can speak to you about what eternal life is and where you might find it. But unless you come to Christ unless you come to Christ. For salvation, there is no life for you. Unless you eat of the bread of life. There is no life for you unless you drink of the Living Water. There is no life for you unless you come to him because you are tired and burdened of the sin that is in you you will not receive eternal life because they are found in him and only in him. So why don't people come? trick question how many times you think Christ reaches out his hand to you and yet you slap it away. How many times does he have to invite you? I've just given you different accounts. He's even accused you of not coming to him. You may search for eternal life. You may even read the Bible to find it but you don't come to him how many times have you been hungry and thirsty and in need of rest yet? You don't come to him. How many times does that have to occur before you actually take him up on his call to you. He says come to me that is what he wants for you. That is what he expects of you. Why because he knows that's what is best for you. You may be searching for fulfillment in other things. You might find you might say why I'm going to find this in food. I'm going to find fulfillment in my life and Treasures or money or wherever you place your treasure is where your heart is also, but imagine a dinner plate with no food, imagine a fishing pole with no fish on it. There is no satisfaction in that because you cannot find those in other things in this world. Matthew 1 26 to 27. Jesus says yes, Father. For this was your good pleasure. All things have been committed to me by my father. Jesus is saying no one knows the son except the father and no one knows the father except the son and Those whom the son chooses to reveal him. It is only through Christ that we would even become to know the father so some of us, may I ask how is it that I come to him? How am I to come to him? If he calls me to come to them? How am I supposed to do that? Well,

That this is a difficult thing for us to sometimes grasp.

Many are called but few are chosen. The call is only achieved through Christ. You see the the call to our lives is for everyone all of you who are tired and weary and that's all of you all of you who are thirsty all of you who are hungry. That's all of you all of you send and fallen short of the glory of God you all need Christ. But not everyone comes and that's the sad part about life because no one sees or has the father reveal to him unless the son chooses to reveal him. And so Jesus plays a very important role and I think of like the young ruler who comes to Christ in the in the gospel accounts, you know, he comes to Jesus and says what must I do to receive eternal life in Jesus says love Lord, you got all your heart mind soul strength you no honor your mother and father and he's like, I've I've done all those things. I've done it all and then Jesus comes to him and gives him another thing. He says well then go sell all your possessions. And give them to the poor and then follow me. The man the young man goes away heartbroken because he can't do it. Is money is more important than following Christ. Now I'm not saying give all of your money away to follow Christ, but that's where the examination of your own heart comes in. Do I love all things less than I love Christ. Is Christ the most important thing is everything else number too? And is he always in all cases? Number one in my life? Listen to these words anyone this isn't Matthew 10:37. Anyone who loves their father and mother more than me is not worthy of me and anyone who loves their son and daughter more than me is not worthy of me. I mean in Luke 14 26 if anyone comes to me and does not hate their father and mother wife and children brothers and sisters. Yes, even their own life unless you hate your own life such a person cannot be my disciple if anyone comes to me but is not giving up all of those other things. If Christ is not more important than your own family or even your own life. Then you have your priorities in the wrong place according to Christ. Is that a difficult command for us? Certainly? I'm not saying that that's easy for us. But the call to come to him I said is the easiest thing you will ever do and it is the most difficult thing you will ever do it is the best thing for you, but you will cling onto this world like it's the most important thing because you still want to cling on to this life that is failing but in the end the life that you have is nothing. It's nothing without Christ because there is no eternal life without him. There is no relationship with the Father the Creator the first and greatest command is you are not to have any Gods before your God. No other gods before Christ Christ is the number one. so understand the cost another application in this text requires a serious self-reflection. Do I yield to the Lord in every area of my life my possessions my family even my own life. Do I trust him to care for me? Or do I have to help him along and seizing control and being careful to avoid some of the tension that is in my life. Do I not trust him with my possessions or do I represent Jesus as just something I need occasionally every once in awhile. These are all hard questions and they are all things that we need to think about. But now is the time where you might need to ask yourself that question. Have I come to him and I fully come to him. It is not easy to give all things over to him. Because we are comfortable in many ways with handling things are self. But he is the savior Matthew 20 Matthew 11:29 says this he says take up my yoke. Upon you take up my yoke upon you learn from me. Why because I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. I read it again take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. Are you Gentle and humble in heart? Have you learned that from Christ? And have you found rest for your souls? Thomas Aquinas, I'll leave you with this. writes this Jesus has many who loved his Kingdom in Heaven. But few who will bear his cross. He is many who desire comfort. But few who desire suffering he finds many to share in his face, but few and is fasting all desire to Rejoice with him, but few are willing to suffer for his sake many follow Jesus to the breaking of the bread but few drink in the cup of his passion and suffering many admire his miracles, but few follow him to the humiliation of the cross.

Come to me he says. all of you who are tired and weary and I will give you rest. Let's pray together.

Are you demand things from us? We can't just sit back.

And pretend like nothing in our lives matters or even decisions that we make day today. But you want complete and utter control of all things including our lives.

Tell her we pray this week that if there are things in our life that are more important than you that you might show them to us. If we have false Idols if we have other gods that are ahead of you whether that's desire for our own selfishness our own time Whether that's her own Treasures or were using our own talents that we've used the talent that you've given us for our own benefit and and nothing for you and Lord we pray that you might show that to us and we need your forgiveness.

Our desire is to have rest and rest for our souls.

We want to enter into that rest Lord, and we pray that you will show your son to us that we might draw closer to him that our relationship with him would be above all things in our lives that he would be the most important thing to us. LOL that we would see who you are who you truly are your glory and your majesty. We pray this in Christ's name. Amman

good morning search wanted to come and say hello to all of you and miss you.

Good morning church. I'm so happy to come and have the opportunity to say hello to you this morning. We miss all of you so much. One of the most difficult things for me about this social distancing and isolation is not being able to come to church and worship together and see all of you, but we're certainly praying for you and we look forward to the day when we will be together in our church building again. I go to read scripture this morning from Jeremiah chapter 2 verses 11 through 19. Has a nation ever changed its Gods yet. They are not Gods at all. But my people have exchanged their glory for worthless Idols be appalled at this. Oh heavens and shutter with great horror declares the Lord. My people have committed two sins. They have forsaken me the spring of Living Water and have dug their own cisterns broken cisterns that cannot hold water. Is this real as servant as slave by birth? Why then has he become plunder Lions have roared. They have growled at him. They have laid waste his land. His towns are burned and deserted also the men of Memphis and Tiffany's have shaved the crown of your head. Have you not brought this on yourself by forsaking the Lord your God when he led you in the way. Now why go to Egypt and drink water from the river your wickedness will punish you your backsliding will rebuke you consider then and realize how evil and bitter it is for you to forsake the Lord your God and have no All of Me declares the Lord the Almighty King. They got out of blessing to the reading of his word. Going to pray with you asked if you could file your heads and join me in prayer. I from your homes to Heavenly Father.
