Text
John 20:19–23 NKJV
19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

John 20:19 NKJV
19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
This is later on Easter morning.
the disciples are shut up for fear that the same fate that met Jesus the Messiah was awaiting them.
it was evening so I presume it was dark.
Jesus miraculously appeared to them.
Jesus appeared and said to them “Peace be with you”
Scarred-
John 20:20 NKJV
20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.
Jesus showed His scares- he is completely transparent. When you are healed its much easier to be transparent.
even when we are healing we need to be transparent with people are going to be healing agents.
Jesus proved that He rose from the dead by showing His scares.
Serene-
John 20:21 NKJV
21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”
they where afraid and Jesus spoke Peace over them.
there is the peace in the presence of Jesus.
there is renewal in the words of Jesus.
there is power of the purpose of Jesus.
Sent-
(refer back to the above verse)
Jesus reveled His purpose for spending three years with them.
He sent them into the world to spread the gospel.
He sent them to preach the kingdom of God.
The Heavenly Father
we are gifted to serve. serving servers are spiritual maturity.
John 20:22 NKJV
22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.
everything we do as Christians should be done in the power of the Holy Spirit. We need to give place and presence to His voice, His Process, His Presence.
We are going to find out next week how easy it is to get frustrated with ourselves or God’s plan and His processes.
that’s why we have to cultivate a surrendered to the leading of the Holy Spirit because its so easy to move in the power of the flesh.
Empowered-
John 20:23 NKJV
