People get all excited about these 3 Vs. These Vs. tell us what we can get from God & what God is going to do for us. It also shows us how to use our faith to receive. These are great Vs., But nearly everyone stops at V 24. Well Jesus didn't stop there. In t next few Vs. Jesus makes 2 more statements that are vitally important for your faith to work.
I. MARK 11:25
A. Jesus ties this thought to (V 24) w/ a conjunction.
1. If this had been edited correctly in t KJV there would not be a period after the word "them" in (V 24); it should be a comma.
a. T word "and" is joining t 2 thoughts together. These 2 Vs were meant to go together.
b. Notice that in (V 25) Jesus said that if you forgive someone that may have done something against you, that puts you in a place to be forgiven of your sins.
i. If you're not forgiving someone then that puts you in a dangerous place.
ii. It's putting you in a place of God's judgement.
2. Really it's a sin to be holding grudges against someone.
a. You need to forgive that person so that you can be forgiven of holding grudges.
B. When you here people talk, many times you can get t impression that they realize they must forgive, but you know that there not going to forget it.
1. You have to let it drop, you have to forget it, as though it never happened.
a. T AMP Bible says, "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against any one, forgive him & let it drop."
2. PHIL 3:13
a. Paul told us to forget those things that are behind.
i. What are some of those things that we are to forget about.
ii. What about you past failures? Forget about them
& go on w/ God. "Reaching forth unto those things which are before."
iii. What about past success? Don't live in t things that you've accomplished. There not going to do you any good.
Don't live in t past. Paul said, "Reaching forth unto those things which are before."
a. Besides it wasn't you that accomplished anything, it was t Lord in you.
Iv. Paul told us to forget those things that are behind. We're also to forgive & forget when we've been offended or hurt.
a. Sometimes you here people say, "Well, I just can't forgive them for what they did."
b. Jesus face t ultimate wrong. He was unjustly put on that cross, yet from that cross He said, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (LUK 23:34)
i. What have people done to you? How have they offended you? Is it worse than what they did to Jesus?
ii. Jesus is to be our example. We're to be followers or imitators of Him as dear children.
iii. He forgave & so should we.
c. T Word even tell us that Jesus forgot.
i. In (JER 31:34) t Lord said, "I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." (KJV)
ii. If t Lord Jesus Christ is to forget t wrong that we have done, then we are to forget t wrong that others have done & we are to forget t wrong that we have done.
II. JOH 16:1
A. Jesus has asked us not to be offended.
1. SONG OF SOL. 2:15
a. T point that I wanted you to get out of this is that it's t little things that get people offended.
b. If you start letting these things offend you then it's going to chock out t life flow of t Spirit of God in your life.
c. Jesus said in (MAR 11:26) "If ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses."
2. If your not at a place where you want to be, then check your self out, t Bible says judge yourself & see if you are in unforgiveness or if you're holding any grudges against anyone.
a. This is a big reason why people don't receive t answer to their prayers.
i. This is why many feel dry in their walk w/ t Lord.
B. If you are in unforgivness or holding grudges, you need to forgive them now.
1. GAL 6:1
a. Someone may have done something wrong to you, that's t fault in this V, now restore them in a spirit of meekness, being humble not in pride.
2. Sometimes people say, "But I just can't forgive them."
a. When God tells us to do something, He always gives us to power to do it.
b. JOHN 14:16
i. T AMP Bible quotes Jesus saying, "And I will ask t Father, & He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener & Standby) that He may remain w/ you forever."
ii. T H.S. is our helper. If you choose to forgive & forget & to keep a good report, t H.S. will help you.
iii. But until you choose to forgive, t H.S. cannot help.
3. Open up that channel to God again by forgiving all those you have offence w/.
a. Jesus said, "When ye stand praying, forgive.
