Were going to continue our teaching on the "Blood and the Glory."

Last week we started on the definition of the Word "PLEAD."

We've often heard the phrase, "I plead the blood of Jesus."

*I) *The word "PLEAD" has nothing to do with begging.

And it has nothing to do with repetitiously repeating words.

*A) *The word *"PLEAD"* is a *legal term*.

*1) **Before we look* at the *“WHY”* *and* *"HOW"* *of pleading the blood*, *we need to define* *what the Bible means by* *"PLEAD*, *PLEAD MY CAUSE,"* *and so on*.

*2) **One of the Hebrew words translated* *"PLEAD"* *is the root word* *“REEB.”*

*(a) **In its verb form* *it means*: *"TO STRIVE*, *CONTEND*, *TO CONDUCT A LEGAL CASE* *OR SUIT."*

*(b) **In its noun form* *it means:* *"DISPUTE, CONTROVERSY, CASE AT LAW."*

*B) *Lets *look at* a *few references* where the Word *"PLEAD"* is used.

*1) **1 Samuel 24:15*.

*2) **1 Samuel 25:39*.

*(a) **In both those vs*.

*1st* (*1 Samuel 24:15*) it says, *"Plead my case, and delivered me."*

And *then in* (*1 Samuel 25:39*) it says, *"Pleaded the case, and kept his servant from evil."*

*3) *(*Psalms 35:1*) says, *"Plead my case, O Lord, with them that strive with me."*

*(a) *(*Psalms 43:1*) says, *"Judge me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation: oh deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man."*

*(b) *In (*Isaiah 3:13*) it says, *"The Lord stand up to plead, and standeth to judge the people."*

*C) *But now turn with me to *Isaiah 50:6-8*.

*1) *The word *"CONTEND"* in *verse 8* is the *same Hebrew word* *“REEB”* *which is usually translated* *"PLEAD.*"

*2) **This verse is prophetic of Jesus* *and His triumphant death and justification.*

*(a) **He says*, "*Who will contend* *or conduct a legal case or suit with Me?*

*(b) **The answer is* *that no case or adversary can stand against Him.*

*(c) **No one could stand against him* *and his shed blood*, *which would shed for you and I*.

*(i) **Since we are in him* *and if his blood is applied to our lives*, *no one is going to be able to stand against us*.

*But it's all because of the blood.*

*II) **A great courtroom procedure began at the fall of ma*n.

*A) **God the Father* is God, the Judge of all.

*(Hebrews 12:23).*

*1) **Jesus* Christ, the Righteous *is our Advocate*.

[Lawyer] (1 John 2:1).

*(a) *The American Heritage Dictionary defines *"ADVOCATE"* as: *"One that argues for a cause*.

*One that pleads* *in another's behalf; an intercessor."*

*(b) **Satan* is the *Prosecuting Attorney*-*the accuser*.

*2) **Revelation 12:10-11.*

*(a) *The title "the accuser of our brethren" reveals Satan's character and his activity.

*B) *The Bible is also known as The Book of the Law.

*1) *Joshua said, "This book of the law shall not depart out of my mouth.

*2) *If men's redemption is to be real, it must also be lawful.

*(a) *Adam exercised his free will and fell into the hands of the enemy.

*(b) *The Blood of the Lamb redeemed man from Satan's hold and unto God and His plan.

*(c) *Again, the American Heritage Dictionary defines the Word regained like this, "To recover ownership by paying a specified sum."

*3) *There was a story that I heard that might help you understand redemption.

*(a) *A Father and his small son worked together and built a toy boat.

They whittled out its hull, painted it red, and attached a white sail.

They enjoyed many happy hours sailing it in the river running through their village.

*(i) *One day the father died.

When the boy sailed the boat it brought back good memories.

Until one day, a big wind caught the little sail and carried the boat down the river faster than the boy could run after it.

The boy missed his boat so much, and now it's been gone for a longtime.

*(ii) *About Thanksgiving time, the boy was overjoyed to see his little boat appear in the window of a toy store.

He ran inside and said, "That's my little boat in the window.

My Father and I made it and it was lost to the sea...."

*(iii) *When he came out of the shop, he held the little boat close to his chest and said, "Little boat carried little boat.

Your twice mind.

I made you, and I bought you."

*(b) *God made as and He redeemed us.

He redeemed us not with silver and gold, but with "PRECIOUS BLOOD."

*III) *Not only were we delivered out of Satan's hands but the Bible also states that our redemption is threefold.

*A) **Galatians 3:13-14.*

*1) *We are redeemed: from the curse of the law, to the blessings, that we might receive the promise of the spirit.

*(a) *The attacks of "the accuser of the brethren" are always in one of these areas.

*(b) *He strives to rob us of our redemptive rights by attempting to: (#1) bring the CURSE of a broken law upon us-POVERTY, SICKNESS, OR DEATH.

*(i) *(#2) Keep us from our inheritance.

(#3) Prevent us from living in the fullness of the power of the Holy Spirit.

*(ii) *It's all legally ours.

*2) *(Colossians 1:13-14) says that at the new birth believers are translated out of the kingdom of darkness and into the kingdom of light.

We have redemption now through His Blood.

*(a) *We are citizens of heaven-right now.

(Philippians 3:20).

And we may live by the laws of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus, which has set us free from the laws of sin and death.

(Romans 8:2).

*3) *But Satan will not just roll over and let it happen for us.

*(a) *(Ephesians 4:27) says that we are to give the Devil no place.

*(b) *He and his accusations are to the overcome with the blood of the Lamb to which he has no defense.

*4) *An old-timer (Grace Roos) who lived a supernatural, overcoming life wrote: "Satan has no answer to the Blood of Jesus.

He has no weapon to withstand its devastating effect upon him.

He is absolutely vulnerable to its overcoming power.

Knowing this, he hides what is happening to Him and seeks to deceive us into settling for less then we want.

Legally Satan was defeated at Calvary, so legally we are his victors through Christ who gave us the power of attorney in Luke 10: 19.

*B) *Turn to *Psalms 107:2*.

*1) *What are we redeemed with?

*(a) *(1st Peter 1:18-19) says, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, /as/ silver and gold, from your vain conversation /received/ by tradition from your fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot."

*2) *God has given us a commandment and that is FOR THE REDEEMED OF THE LORD TO SAY SO.

*(a) *SAY WHAT? "I am redeemed from the curse by the blood of Jesus."

*(i) *What is the curse or the curse of the law?

Poverty, sickness, and death.

*(ii) *I am redeemed from this lack by the blood of Jesus.

I am redeemed from sickness by the blood of Jesus.

I am redeemed from premature death and spiritual death by the blood of Jesus.

*(b) *THIS IS PLEADING THE BLOOD.

*C) *Back in our courtroom case, we have a witness.

*1) *The Bible declares that the blood is a witness.

*(a) *(1st John 5:8) says, "And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood."

*(b) *The NIV translation words it like this, "For there are three that testify:  8 the Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.”

*2) *A witness is supposed to speak.

(Hebrews 12:24) tells us that the blood does speak.
