Were going to *continue* our teaching on the message I've entitled *"The Blood and the Glory."*
In *last week's* teaching we *saw* that *how* *Rahab's Scarlet thread or scarlet cord* was also a *token to her*.
And it was a *token of the blood* *of* the Lord *Jesus* Christ.
*I) **Just as the blood of the Lamb* *upon the doorpost of the Israelites* when they were still *in Egypt* was *also* *a token* to them.
*A) **With Rahab* *and the Israelites* *on that 1st Passover*, *basically the same things happen*.
*All those who were kept in the house*, *which was distinguishably marked* *with* *a token* of the blood, were *kept safe*.
*B) **There was protection for the person* tha*t applied the blood or the token*, *there was protection* for *all* the *loved ones*, and *even* the *belongs* were *kept safe*.
*1) **In these Old Testament examples*, *we see how the blood* *or* *a token of the blood of Jesus* *was outwardly displayed*.
*2) **We too need to continuously display the token of the Blood of Jesus* *and its power* *over the doorpost and boundaries of our lives.*
*(a) **But how?* *By faith*.
*And* *by the words of our mouth* *because we believe it in our hearts.*
*(b) **Draw a blood-line of protection around you*, *your family*, *and your belongs*.
*Cover yourself in the blood of Jesus.*
*And do what the old-timers did*, *begin to* *"Plead in the blood of Jesus."*
*II) **Pleading the Blood has nothing to do with begging.*
*A) **And it has nothing to do with a mechanical repetition of words.*
*1) **You can plead the blood of Jesus all day long* *and it won't do you any good* *not being mixed with faith*.
*(a) **(Hebrews 11:6)* says, *"It is impossible to please God without faith."*
*2) *Look at *Hebrews 3:19-4:2*.
Here we have a *picture* *of the children of Israel* *who could not enter into the Promised Land* *because of their unbelief.*
*(a) **He goes on to say* *that the word that was preached to them* *did not profit them* *or benefit them* *in any way* *because it was not mixed with faith.*
*(b) **They could not go in and obtain the land that flowed with milk and honey*, *which was the promise of God* *because they didn't have faith in what God said.*
*(i) **The Amplified translation says,* *"But the message they heard did not benefit them,* *because it was not mixed with faith* *(with the leaning of the entire personality on God in absolute trust* *and confidence* *in His power*, *wisdom*, *and* *goodness*)."
*(ii) **That sounds a lot like* *(Proverbs 3:5)*, *which says,* *"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding."*
*3) **The promise that we have in the power of the blood* *needs to be applied by faith* *and the same is true* *when we Plead the Blood.*
*B) *The word *"PLEAD"* is a *legal term*.
*1) **Before we look* at the *“WHY”* *and* *"HOW"* *of pleading the blood*, *we need to define* *what the Bible means by* *"PLEAD*, *PLEAD MY CAUSE,"* *and so on*.
*2) **One of the Hebrew words translated* *"PLEAD"* *is the root word* *“REEB.”*
*(a) **In its verb form* *it means*: *"TO STRIVE*, *CONTEND*, *TO CONDUCT A LEGAL CASE* *OR SUIT."*
*(b) **In its noun form* *it means:* *"DISPUTE, CONTROVERSY, CASE AT LAW."*
*C) *Lets *look at* a *few references* where the Word *"PLEAD"* is used.
*1) **1 Samuel 24:15*.
*2) **1 Samuel 25:39*.
*(a) **In both those vs*.
*1st* (*1 Samuel 24:15*) it says, *"Plead my case, and delivered me."*
And *then in* (*1 Samuel 25:39*) it says, *"Pleaded the case, and kept his servant from evil."*
*3) *(*Psalms 35:1*) says, *"Plead my case, O Lord, with them that strive with me."*
*(a) *(*Psalms 43:1*) says, *"Judge me, O God, and plead my case against an ungodly nation: oh deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man."*
*(b) *In (*Isaiah 3:13*) it says, *"The Lord stand up to plead, and standeth to judge the people."*
*D) *But now turn with me to *Isaiah 50:6-8*.
*1) *The word *"CONTEND"* in *verse 8* is the *same Hebrew word* *“REEB”* *which is usually translated* *"PLEAD.*"
*2) **This verse is prophetic of Jesus* *and His triumphant death and justification.*
*(a) **He says*, "*Who will conten*d *or conduct a legal case or suit with Me?*
*(b) **The answer is* *that no case or adversary can stand against Him.*
*(c) **No one could stand against him* *and his shed blood*, *which would shed for you and I*.
*(i) **Since we are in him* *and if his blood is applied to our lives*, *no one is going to be able to stand against us*.
*But it's all because of the blood.*
*III) *A great courtroom procedure began at the fall of man.
*A) *God the Father is God that Judge of all.
(Hebrews 12:23).
*1) *Jesus Christ, the Righteous, is our Advocate.
(1 John 2:1).
