In t 1st part of this V we can see that it is t “The thief that steals, kills, and destroys.” And who is t thief? It’s not God, if it was, that would make God partaker in sin. No, t thief is Satan. But I also think that you can see t contrast between t Jesus & Satan in this V. Satan comes to steal, Jesus comes to give, Satan comes to kill, but Jesus comes to give life, Satan comes to destroy, but Jesus comes to build us up & lift us to heavenly places.

          I. In this V we see God’s plan for His children.

                   A. He said, “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have {it} more abundantly.”

                             1. This word “Abundantly” means (in the sense of beyond); superabundant (in quantity) or superior (in quality); by implication, preeminence: exceeding abundantly above, more abundantly, advantage, exceedingly, very highly, beyond measure.”

                                      a. Jesus came to bring us this kind of life in all areas of our life.

                   B. He wants us to have PLENTY.

                             1. In t book of (DEUT) it says, “And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods.”

                             2. In (GAL 6:7) it says, “Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”

                                      a. That V can apply to many different things, but it also means that if a man sows his money, as seed, into t kingdom of God, that is what he will reap.  Finances.

                                      b. ISA 30:23

                                                i. That’s not real clear to us, listen to t NIV. “He will also send you rain for the seed you sow in the ground, (that’s your finances that you sow into t kingdom of God), and the food (or fruit), that comes from the land will be rich and plentiful. In that day your cattle will graze in broad meadows.”

                                      c. GEN 27:28

                                                i. T word “fatness” means “richness” in other words it means t “best.”

ii. T Lord will give you t best of t Earth if we will serve Him fully.

                             3. PRO 3:9-10

                                      a. In t OT a sign of a farmer or a herdsman being prosperous was that their barns were full.

                                      b. But there were some things they had to do in t natural.

                                                i. They had to know how to grow produce or raise cattle, & then God would bless them above measure.

                                      c. T same is true today. (HOS 4:6) Says “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

                                                i. That V is talking about God’s Word, but there is also a practical side to it.

ii. If you’re going to raise cattle you better have t knowledge that they need food & water.

                                                          a. Someone might be thinking, Well, I don’t have t ability to further my education.

                                                          b. T Bible says that you have t mind of Christ, & that you can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

                                                          c. You can do it. (share heart, education important)

                   C. Back to our message, JOEL 2:23-26.

                             1. These Vs here have a double meaning.

                                      a. 1st it’s talking about an outpouring of t H.S.

                                      b. But it also has another meaning.

                                      c. Those that are serving t Lord, will have restored to them everything that t Devil had taken stolen.

                                                i. Then he says, “Ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied.” ......

                             2. He goes on to add that my people shall never be ashamed.

                                      a. But there are many of God’s people that feel ashamed because they are on welfare. You shouldn’t feel that way especially if it’s for medical reasons.

                                      b. But God says that as we trust in Him we will not be ashamed, because He will give us plenty.

II. Poverty is not God’s will.

                   A. (GAL 3:13) Says, Christ has redeemed us from t curse of t law.

                             1. Part of t curse is poverty, but Jesus has redeemed us from it.

                             2. In (PSA 23:1) David said, “T Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”

                                      a. T word “want” means “lack.”

                                      b. What David is trying to say is that because t Lord is his shepherd, he will not lack any good thing.

III. It’s great to know that t Lord wants us to have a full supply, to prosper, but how are we going to get it?

                   A. PRO 13:22

                             1. That tells us that t sinners have t wealth & that it’s ours, but how do we get it?

                   B. Look at DEUT 28:1-2, 13

                             1. How are we going to prosper?

                                      a. If we, “Harken diligently unto t voice of t Lord. &

                                      b. If we, Observe & do all His commandments.

                             2. There’s 2 main reasons why God wants us to prosper;

                                      a. #1 Because He loves us & want to give us only His best, so that He can establish His Covenant w/ us.

                                      b. & #2 So that through our giving more will hear about t Lord Jesus Christ.

                             3. Money is a tool & an instrument to further t work of God around t world. Here locally & in t utter most parts of t world.

                   C. God wants us to prosper.
