*Last week* we said that there are */mainly 7 different words/* that the *translators* */render/* “*/Praise/*.”
But each of these *Hebrew words have a much fuller meaning*, much more *descriptive*, then just praise.
*I.
*Last week we took up the */Hebrew word/* “*/YADAH/*.”
*A.
/YADAH/* comes from a *root word* meaning “*/Extended Hand, to throw out the hand/*.”
*1.
*Therefore, “*/YADAH/*” means */to praise and worship with extended hand/*.
*2.
/Yadah is an action word/*.
*a.
*It’s an *act of your will*, *throwing your hands upward* in power.
*i.
*This is a sign of *total surrender* and *submission* to God.
                                           *ii.
*It *also means* that you are *trusting in Him*.
*b.
*“*/Yadah/*” also has to do with *speaking*, *speaking out our praises* to God *with* our *hands lifted up*.
*B.
*There are *several verses in the Word* of God that *tell us to lift our hands* unto the Lord.
(*/Psalm 63:4/*) Says, “*/Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name/*.”

*(*/Psalm 134:2/*) “*/Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD/*.”

*It tells us in (*/PSA 141:2/*) the Lifting of hands was counted as the evening sacrifice.

*All right, that brings us to our */2nd/* *word for praise* “*/TOWDAH/*.”

*“*/TOWDAH/*” comes from the */same Hebrew root word/* as “*/YADAH/*” *meaning* the *extension of the hands*, but “*/TOWDAH/*” *includes more*.

*Turn with me to */PSA 50:23/*

*He says, “*/Whoso offereth praise/* (TOWDAH) */glorifieth me/*.”

*It’s *unfortunate* that the *KJV translates* “*/TOWDAH/*” as just “*/Praise/*.”

*The */NASB/* *does an excellent job in translating this* */V/*.
*i.
*The */NASB/* says, */“He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me/*; */And to him who orders his way aright I shall show the salvation of God/*.”

*The */Strong’s/* says that “*/TOWDAH/*” *means* “*/Give praise to God, thanksgiving in songs of worship, hymn of praise, or in confession/*.”

*“*/TOWDAH/*” can be “*/Thanksgiving in song by singing or in words only/*.”

*“*/TOWDAH/*” can be */thanking Him for/* the */things/* that */He has done/*, but it can */also/* be */thanking Him for things/* that we have */not received yet/*.

This Hebrew word* for “*/Salvation/*” *means*, “*/deliverance/*, */salvation/*, */rescue/*, */safety/*, */welfare/*, */prosperity/*, and */victory/*.”

God* has *promises* us *all of these things*.
*b.
*Turn to */PHIL 4:4-6/*

When you ask God for something*, *you should be thanking Him for it*.

*(*/Hebrews 10:23/*) Says, “*/He is faithful that promised/*.”

When you’re thanking Him for the things* that *you don’t even see* yet, *you’re operating in* the Bible principle called “*/faith/*.”

Faith is simply taking God at His Word*.

*If He said it He will bring it to pass.
*i.
There are conditions* to God’s promises.
*ii.
*Just *like in* (*/PSA 50:23/*) God said that *He would give us* His *salvation*, *deliverance*, *safety*, and *prosperity*, *if we would* “*/ordereth our conversation aright/*.”
In other words “*/live right/*.”

*“*/TOWDAH/*” means “*/Thanking Him for the things that you have already received/* */and for the things not yet received/* */with arms lifted up/*.”
*III.
*That brings us to the */3rd Hebrew word for praise/* and that is “*/HALAL/*.”
*A.
*“*/HALAL/*” *means* “*/To shine/*, */to boast/*, */to show/*, */to celebrate/*, */to be noisily foolish/*, */or clamorourly foolish/*.”

*Generally, “*/HALAL/*” */refers to/* */speaking our praises/*, but *not just a whisper*.
Some */volume/* *is involved* */and/* *even some* */action/*.

*It *might be dancing unto the Lord*, it might be *waving of the arms*, it might be *spinning like a top* as David did.
*2. 1 of the definitions* of the *word* “*/HALAL/*” is to “*/act madly/*, */act like a madman/*.”

If the world saw you* worshipping God in the “*/HALAL/*” type of worship, *they would thing you’ve gone mad*.
