I think that all of us have had the Devil steal something from us. Jesus said in (JOHN 10:10) “The thief cometh not, but for to steal and to kill, and to destroy.” This is the nature of the Devil; he steals. If and when you come in contact with him, you can expect that he has come to steal.

I) Look with me to MARK 4:15.

A) This V says that Satan is after something and that something is the Word of God.

1) Satan comes to steal the Word out of your heart.

(i) Jesus said in Mark 4 that once the Word is sown in a man’s heart, Satan comes immediately to take it away.

(a) Why does Satan come to steal the Word?

(1) The first answer to that a simple. There is power in the Word of God. (Hebrews 4:12) says, “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

(2) The Word of God is powerful and it will defeat the principalities and powers of darkness.

a. Another reason Satan comes to steal the Word is to steal the vision that God has given.

i. If you steal the vision, you steal the power. You steal the anointing.

b. Tower of Babel.

2) If he can steal the Word, he can steal your JOY, your PEACE, your POWER, your COMFORT, your FULFILLMENT, your FAITH, your FINANCES, and all the BLESSINGS OF GOD.

3) 1 way Satan discourages God’s people, and steals the Word, is through AFFLICTION and PERSECUTION.

a) If that doesn’t work, he will attack their MATERIAL POSSESSIONS, and if that doesn’t work, he will attack their HEALTH.

B) Look at 2COR 2:11.

1) Satan has the advantage over people when they don’t understand how he operates.

2) But now we are not ignorant of his devices, so he will not get an advantage on us unless we let him.

II) Look at HEB 10:32-39.

A) Notice (V 32) again, “But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated (or “ENLIGHTENED” as the ASV, RSV), ye endured a great fight of afflictions.”

1) After you RECEIVE THE WORD, you are illuminated or enlightened. (Psalm 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.)

a) When the Word enters your heart, it gives light; you are illuminated and enlightened.

2) Have you ever noticed that once you received the Word, the War was on?

a) Remember what Jesus said in (MARK 4:15) “Once the Word is sown in a man’s heart, Satan comes immediately to take it away.”

b) Our V that we read in (HEB 10:32) Says, “After ye were illuminated (by the Word), ye endured a great fight of afflictions.”

3) Turn back with me to Mark chapter 4 and lets look at MARK 4:16-17.

a) The word “OFFENDED” means “TO STUMBLE or FALL AWAY.”

b) Why did the affliction or persecution come? For the Word’s sake.

c) Satan is after the Word in your heart.

(i) You’re no threat to him until you get the Word of God in your heart. You become dangerous to him.

(ii) Paul said in (ROM 1:16) “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation.”

(iii) When you get God’s Word, you get God’s power. Power to stop the devil.

B) Go back to HEB 10:32b-33.

a) Did you ever feel that when you 1st started to stand on the Word of God that everyone was watching you Christians and non-Christians. (To see how long this would last). It’s the Devil trying to use peer pressure to get you to fall or stumble.

2) Look at HEB 10:34.

a) The part that I wanted you to notice is the part that says, “Took joyfully the spoiling of your goods.”

c) This V is saying “they still had JOY even when the Devil came in and stole their goods.”

3) Turn to JOHN 15:7-11.

a) In (verse 7) Jesus said, “If my words abide in you.”

(i) Then in (verse 11) he said, “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and {that} your joy might be full.”

b) The Words of Jesus or the Word of God will produce JOY. WHY?

(i) The Word of God is the Good news and good news always produces JOY.

C) When the Devil comes to steal the Word, he also comes to steal your Joy.

1) If the Word is in you and it’s the WORD that PRODUCES JOY, Satan can STEAL YOUR JOY BY GETTING THE WORD OUT of you.

a) (PRO 13:12) Says, “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick.”

b) Jesus is our blessed hope. According to Word of God Jesus and the Word are synonymous, one and the same.

c) Our hope is the Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God.

(i) The word “DEFERRED” according to the Strong’s means, “SCATTERED, REMOVED OR POSTPONED.”

(ii) When the Word is removed, the heart is sick. There’s no more joy.

III) (Nehemiah 8:10) Says, “The joy of the Lord is your strength.”

A) If you lose your JOY, you get into discouragement and negativism, and NEGATIVISM BREEDS DEFEAT.

1) If you lose your joy, the Devil can steal everything you have.

2) But Jesus said in (JOHN 16:22) “Your joy no man [one] taketh from you.”

a) The devil can’t take your joy unless you let him.

B) Instead of giving up when these test and trials rise up, and when Satan tries to steal your goods, you need to VOICE YOUR JOY.

1) JER 33:11.

a) Most other translations say, “For I will restore the FORTUNES of the land as at first, says the LORD.”

(i) The FORTUNES of the land are your POSSESSIONS, your goods.

b) In other words, God is saying in this V, “You took joyfully the spoiling of your goods. Now I will restore them to you in full.”

2) But that’s not the end of it.

a) PRO 6:30-31.

b) If the Devil can’t get your joy, then he can’t keep your goods.

(i) There’s even provision in the Word of God to make the thief pay back 7 fold.

(ii) You’ve caught the thief, now demand that he pays you back 7 fold, in the name of Jesus.

3) Now I made the statement that we are TO VOICE OUR JOY.

a) But how are we to do it. HEB 13:15.

b) One of the best ways to voice your joy is to keep on praising God in the mist of the storm. Don’t let the devil get your joy and you will have victory.

(i) Pro 28:12

(ii) Pro 17:22 Says, “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” One translation adds the footnote, “Should be translated, “A JOYFULL HEART CAUSES GOOD HEALING.”
