We’re going to continue on the subject of healing for this week. Next week we’ll probably go on to something different, unless we don’t finish what the Lord is trying to tell us.

As this V we just read said, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” That doesn’t just mean salvation, but it would also include healing.

     I. ACTS 10:34

              A. Some might feel that they just are not good enough to be healed.

              B. Maybe you’re feeling inadequate because you don’t pray enough or there is something else that is lacking in you life that makes you feel unworthy, even though you are still serving the Lord.

                        1. Look at PSA 105:37.

                                  a. This is talking about the children of Israel when they were set free from the Egyptians.

                                  b. Did you notice that it says there was not one feeble among them.

                                           i. Some say that there was as many as 4 million of them and not 1 sickly.

                        2. You might think that you're sick and can’t receive your healing because you have some flaws and you’re not perfect.

                                  a. Aren’t you glad we don’t receive God’s promises bases on our own righteous.

                                           i. Our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags.” (Isaiah 64:6)

ii. (2 Corinthians 5:21) “For he hath made him [to be] sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”

                                  b. We receive everything based on the righteousness of Jesus. We’ve been given His righteousness.

                                           i. In the multitude of the 4 million Israelites, there were many that were not perfect, yet they walked in divine health.

ii. Don’t let the Devil tell you that you are not worthy. You are the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

                                  c. The covenant that we are under is a far greater covenant. If they were healed under the Old Covenant how much more is healing made available to us.

II. Last time I had you look to EPH 2:8-9 (Turn there)

              A. The word “Saved” is the Greek word “Sozo” means all the promises of God including healing.

                        1. Listen to one of the definitions from the Strong’s Expanded Dictionary, “To save a suffering one (from perishing), i.e. one suffering from disease, to make well, heal, or restore to health.”

              B. The promises of God or not contingent on the works that you do. There is nothing in the Word of God that says you have to pray 2 hours a day to receive healing or prosperity or any of the promises of God.

                        1. Then how do you receive the promises? 1st you have to receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, that makes you partakers of the Covenant.

                        2. 2nd, you have to be serving to Lord or following the Lord.

                                  a. Jesus said, in (Matthew 4:10) “Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”

                        3. Then the Bible says in (Hebrews 6:12) “Through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

                                  a. To receive the promises of God, WORKS are not really mentioned.

III. Does that mean that we don’t need to do good works? Not at all.

              A. I’ve always said that we don’t do good works to be saved, but because we are saved we do good works.

                        1. JAMES 2:14-26

                                  a. Faith and works do go hand in hand.

                                  b. If you read these Vs from the NIV translation it says “deeds (good deeds)” instead of “WORKS.”

                                           i. Because we are saved and have faith in God we will do the good works.

ii. (Galatians 5:6) Says “Faith which worketh by love.”

iii. Because we have faith we will do the works of love.

              B. We are to do works, but works alone will not save us.

                        1. As James said, “I will show you my faith through my works.”

                        2. There are 2 different kinds of works that we are to do.

                                  a. 1 would be to do the good deeds. That’s what we’ve been talking about.

                                  b. There is a 2nd and that is to do a corresponding action to are faith, what we’re believing God for.

                                           i. If you’re believing God for your healing, you don’t continue to confess that you’re sick.

ii. I don’t want to go in to that right now. That’s a whole different message.

     IV. Turn to MATT 25:14-30

              A. When reading a parable you need to realize that there is only 1 main truth in it. Don’t read to much into it, but we still need to get the full meaning out of it. A parable is never going to be the exact same thing.

              B. What is this parable telling us?

                        1. 1st it tells us that the master is going away. That would have to be the Lord Jesus Christ.

                        2. Next we know that the Master gave each of the 3 men talents.

                                  a. He gave each man a different amount.

                                           i. I guess that He gave them a certain amount based on their faithfulness to the Lord, to the Master.

                                  b. As we read through these Vs we gather that they were supposed to do something with these talents.

                                           i. This could be likened to the works that we are supposed to do.

ii. But remember we’re saved and healed by grace through faith, not of works.

                        3. Then why do the good works?

                                  a. (John 15:8) Says, “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit.”

                                           i. God receives glory when we do the works of the Kingdom.

                                  b. But your works will also follow into heaven.

                                           i. In this parable the Lord returned, just like we’re waiting for.

ii. 2 of the men entered into the Joy of the Lord. (heaven)

iii. The Lord told both of these 2 men “I will make you ruler over many things: enter thou into the Joy of the Lord.”

iv. Because of their works that they did on Earth, they received the rewards in heaven.

                                  c. Let me say something else about this parable. Some have said that all 3 of these men were saved, but 1 was cast into outer darkness.

                                           i. There reasoning for this is because all of them are called servants of the Master.

ii. But when Jesus gave this parable, who was He talking to? Was He addressing the Church or the Jews.

iii. When He spoke this the was talking to the Jews.

iv. All Jews consider themselves servants of God but very few are saved.

                                  d. Just because He uses the word “servants” that doesn’t mean they are saved.

                                           i. Look at MATT 10:42

              C. Salvation as well as healing comes by grace (God’s gift) through faith, not of works.

                        1. We don’t have to struggle for healing or even work for it is God’s free gift for all that serve Him.
