I can’t tell you what God’s will is for your life, except for what’s in the Word of God. I can show you in the Word that it is God’s will for you to pray, or to live a holy life before Him. What I can’t do is tell you which car to buy or which job to take. Things like that. I can’t tell you what God wants you to do for Him in service, things like usher, greater, teaching children, street evangelism. I can’t tell you God’s will for your personal life, but God will guide you.

          I. But 1 thing we need to rest assured in is that when God does guide us, He will also provide.

                   A. PRO 8:20

                             1. This word “LEAD here is translated 2 ways.

                                      a. 1st it’s translated “WALK.” I think we all know that God is righteous and that He walks in the ways of righteousness.

                                       b. 2nd it’s translatedLEAD.” In other words, God is saying that He will be able to lead us when we are walking in righteous.

                                                i. When we’re not in right standing with God, it’s going to be much harder to hear the voice of the spirit.

ii. When you’re not in right standing with God, you don’t have fellowship with Him.

iii. (1JO 1:6) Says, “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth.” (KJV)

                             2. If we want God to lead us we have to be walking with Him and the only way to do that is to be living right, leading a holy life.

                   B. Look at V 21. (Pro 8:21)

                             1. 1st of all God says that if we’re in right standing with Him, He will lead us and guide us.

                                      a. Then He says that He will also provide for us and prosper us.

                             2. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Says, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

                                      a. When you begin to trust in the Lord and not leaning to your own understanding, you’re really walking in faith.

                                                i. Isn’t that what faith is: “Trusting & believing totally in the Lord for His promises and not leaning to your own understanding.”

ii. Not trying to reason out why God can’t do it.

                   C. PSA 37:4

                             1. The word “DELIGHT in this V means “to be soft or pliable.”

                                      a. This V. is telling us that we need to be soft and pliable to the will of God, not having a hardened heart to the things of God, He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

                             2. The word “Delight” in the Hebrew can also meanTo make merry over.”

                                      a. In (Proverbs 17:22) It says, “A merry heart doeth good [like] a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.” (KJV)

                                                i. The word “MedicinemeansA cure or a healing.”

                                      b. So a merry heart brings a healing or a cure to those that are sick.

                             3. But not only does a merry heart bring healing, it also brings prosperity and the answer to our prayers.

                                      a. Let’s read (Psalm 37:4) again “Delight [rejoice or make merry] thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.” (KJV)

                                      b. The Bible says so much about rejoicing in the Lord.

                                                i. (Nehemiah 8:10) Says, “The joy of the LORD is your strength.” (KJV)

                                                ii. Look at PHIL 3:1

                                      c. 9 times the Word of God tells us to rejoice in the Lord. (That exact phrase.)

                                      d. Look at PHIL 4:4

                                                i. Why was Paul and the other writers of the Bible so emphatic about having a merry heart and rejoicing in the Lord?

ii. Because there is power in it.

II. Now not only will God provided for us as He’s guiding, but He will also protect you as He directs you.

                   A. PSA 91:1

                             1. When is it that you are under the shadow of the Almighty?

                                      a. When you’re dwelling in the secret place of the most High.

                                      b. And when is it that you’re dwelling in those secret places?

                                                i. Only when you’re in the will of God.

ii. You’re not going to have God’s protection operating to the fullest in you’re life if you’re not in God’s will.

                             2. Let’s go reading in V 2.

                                      a. When you’re in the will of God you’re in divine protection.

                                      b. V 3-11

                                                i. Notice He says, “In all thy ways.”

ii. He’s only going to give His angels charge over thee if you’re ways are in line with His ways.

iii. If your will is in line with His will.

iv. But if you’re in the will of God than you can expect God to send His angels to watch over you.

                                      c. V 12-16

                   B. We have to remember that Jesus said in (HEB 13:5) “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

                             1. ISA 43:2

                                      a. Wherever it is that God has put you, wherever He puts you to work, He will be there with you & you will not be burned.

                                                i. You’ll come out of that fire smelling like a rose.

                                      b. You probably remember the 3 Hebrew men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, they were thrown into a fiery furnace.

                                                i. In (Daniel 3:27) “The fire had no power (over them), nor was a hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.” (KJV)

ii. This was a literal fire, but you might feel that you’re going through a fire. (In a figurative sense.) But the Lord saysI will be with thee.”

                             2. ISA 54:17

                                      a. You can rest assured that if you’re in the will of God, no weapon formed against you shall prosper.

                                      b. (PSA 5:12)For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as {with} a shield.” (KJV)

III. So far we’ve seen that God will provide for us as He guides and He will also protect us as He directs us. But the big question is, “How is God going to reveal to us His plan for our lives?”

                   A. 1st of all we have His Word.

                             1. (2TI 3:16-17) Says, “All scripture {is} given by inspiration of God, and {is} profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”

                             2. (PSA 119:105) Says, “Thy word {is} a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (KJV)

                                      a. The Word of God shows you where to go and what to do.

                   B. God can also show you His plan by the peace of God in your heart. PHIL 4:7; COL 3:15

                   C. Another way that God will guide you into His plan for your life is by His spirit.

                             1. 1COR 2:10-14

                                      a. God is going to show you things by His Spirit to your spirit.

                                      b. (ROM 8:16)The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.” (KJV)

                                                i. As we are the children of God we can expect to be lead by the Spirit of God.

                             2. 1SAM 3:1-11

                                       a. God spoke to Samuel and He will speak to us. Usually it’s with that still small voice. If we want to hear His voice and receive His direction, we have to spend time in fellowship with Him.

                                      b. God will speak to you, but you have to listen.
