We Are Called to Encourage

Hebrews 10:25 NLT
25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
In China & other parts of the world saints have been coming up with creative ways to meet for decades.
We cannot be discouraged, but be encouraged to know that God has us and has even made away for us to still be able to get together.
Psalm 10:17–18 NLT
17 Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them. 18 You will bring justice to the orphans and the oppressed, so mere people can no longer terrify them.
1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT
11 So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
The Bumps Are What You Climb On: Encouragement for Difficult Days Chapter One: The Bumps Are What You Climb On

A little boy was leading his sister up a mountain path and the way was not too easy. “Why, this isn’t a path at all,” the little girl complained. “It’s all rocky and bumpy.” And her brother replied, “Sure, the bumps are what you climb on.” That’s a remarkable piece of philosophy. What do you do with the bumps on the path of life?

1 Peter 5:10 NCV
10 And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever.

When times get tuff the tuff ignore time!

Don’t focus on what you cannot control, only focus on what God allows you to control.
i.e. the whole country is on lockdown, I can’t go to the gym to workout, but guess what you can still walk in your neighborhood or at a park. you can go outside dig up some dirt and put it in bags and lift some weights. Do some push-ups ride your actual bike remember that thing you got in the garage? You can still be creative in staying healthy. There is more then one way to skin a cat!

Ignore negative content, it does nothing to edify or lift up your soul.
Ephesians
Ephesians 4:29 NLT
29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

A little nine-year-old boy got tired of practicing the piano. His mother heard the great Paderewski was coming into town to do a concert. She bought two tickets, one for herself and one for her boy. And she dragged him along, sat him down by her in his little tuxedo, and she began visiting with her friends. He looked up on the platform and there was this giant, ebony black, Steinway concert grand piano. The lid on the keyboard was lifted and the leather bench was there. He looked at this piano, popped his knuckles, and said to himself, “Oh, man, I’d like to play that.”

So he slipped down the aisle, walked across the front, up the steps, sat down, and started playing “Chopsticks.”

Well, the people down front said, “Who … who is …?” “Quit!” “Hey, kid, stop!” “Where’s his mother?” Of course she was embarrassed beyond words.

The great Paderewski, who was back fixing his tie, heard what was going on. So without the boy seeing him, he slipped out on the stage and came in behind the little boy, reached around him and improvised a beautiful melody to go with “Chopsticks.” Then he said to the boy, “Keep playing. Don’t quit. Don’t stop.”

Acts 20:32 NLT
32 “And now I entrust you to God and the message of his grace that is able to build you up and give you an inheritance with all those he has set apart for himself.

God Encourages Us

1. Through His Word
Romans 15:4 NLT
4 Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.
Romans
2. Through the Holy Spirit
John 14:16–17 GNB
16 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you for ever. 17 He is the Spirit who reveals the truth about God. The world cannot receive him, because it cannot see him or know him. But you know him, because he remains with you and is in you.
John 14:16 NLT
16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.

Experience of the Holy Spirit

The word used for Spirit here means “Counsellor” or “one who encourages or comforts”.
Acts 9:31 NLT
31 The church then had peace throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria, and it became stronger as the believers lived in the fear of the Lord. And with the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, it also grew in numbers.
Acts
3. Through His Actions

I asked Jesus how much he loved me. He stretched out his arms and said, “This much”—and died.

John 3:16 NLT
16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
God’s love for us is like a Swiss army knife, His Word is the tool that allows you to cut deep for inspiration, correction and to challenge you. The Holy Spirit is the tool that will guide you like a compass and bring comfort when you are uncertain of things and Jesus is the casing that holds it all together, because without the casing all you have is individual tools and there is no connivence in that.

God’s plan for your life has always been to draw you closer to Him, even when it seems like He’s not present.

Experience of God’s encouragement

2 Corinthians 4:16–18 NLT
16 That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. 17 For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! 18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
1 Peter 1:3 NLT
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,
Hebrews 12:5 NLT
5 And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the Lord’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you.
Hebrews 6:18 NLT
18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us.

Effects of being encouraged

Isaiah 40:30–31 NLT
30 Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion. 31 But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.

Pray for encouragement

2 Thessalonians 2:16–17 NLT
16 Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, 17 comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.
Colossians 1:10–12 NLT
10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. 11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light.
Luke 11:1–4 NLT
1 Once Jesus was in a certain place praying. As he finished, one of his disciples came to him and said, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2 Jesus said, “This is how you should pray: “Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. 3 Give us each day the food we need, 4 and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation.”
Luke 11:1-

Prayer is much like a check to be countersigned by two parties. I sign the check and send it up to heaven. If Jesus Christ also signs it, it does not matter how large it is—it will be honored.

Praying should be like breathing for the child of God, It should happen automatically all the time.
1 Thessalonians 5:
1 Thessalonians 5:17–19 NLT
17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 19 Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:17–18 NLT
17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Ephesian
Ephesians 6:18 NLT
18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Some people prayers need to be cut short at the beginning and the end, then just set on fire in the middle!
Praying is just you and God talking about life and what His plans are for them.
