*Last time* we started talking about *FRESH OIL.*
We said that *OIL *is a *symbol* *of* the *anointing of God.*
And it's a *symbol *of the *HS coming on* *someone* to *equip them* to *do service* to God, in the *area* that *He* has *called* them.
This *entire* *Psalm *is a *psalm of praise *to God *for *His *goodness.
*It *begins *by saying, “*/It is a good {thing} to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High./*”
Then in (*/V 10/*) it says,* *“*/I shall be anointed with fresh oil/*.”*
In *the *midst *of *praising God *for His goodness, the *psalmist said, *“I */shall be anointed with fresh oil/*.”
*I.*
*God* is *still anointing* His *Apostles, Prophets*...& *He's still anointing* all *His people* to *witness* about Him *&* to *do service* for Him.
                  *A.* &* God *is *still anointing kings & priests,* *N.T. kings & priests.*

When the word “*priest*” is mentioned, *most* people *think of* either *2 things.*

*#1* The priest in the *Catholic* church.

That has *nothing to do with* what *God* is *talking about* in the Bible*.*

The *2nd* thing that people think of is the *OT priest* that would *offer sacrifices* to God, *on behalf of the people*.
What he was *really doing was interceding in behalf of others*.

Today we are *all called* to *function as* a *priest,* to *intercedes* to God on the *behalf of other people.*

*Some* may be *called *of God *to intercede much more* than others,* but* we *all* are *called & anointed to pray & intercede.*

*So far* we've *looked at* the *anointing* in the *O.T. &* in the *N.T.*  We've *seen* the *anointing *with *oil* in the *O.T*.
*on* the *prophets*, *priest*, & *kings*.
We *looked* *at* the *anointing* in the *life* *of* the *believer*.
*Last week* we *looked at* the* anointing* in the *life of Jesus*.
We see that *God *is* still anointing all believers with *the *H.S.* to go into all the world *to preach *the* Gospel, to witness *about Him*, for service*, &* *to be* N.T. kings & priests* unto God.
                  *A.*
But we need to *look* at *another aspect* of the anointing.

In this passage of Scripture, *God* was *speaking to Israel.
*But there is a *message here for* us, the *Church.*

Here God is saying that *Israel committed 2 evils*: */1/** *evil was they *forsook God*, the *God* of *living waters*,

The */2nd/* evil was *they hewed out for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns which could hold no water.

In other words, they *left God's plan & made *their* own plans.*
And because their *plans* were *man‑made,* they *couldn't prosper.*

A “*cistern*”* *is a “*reservoir*”* *or a “*tank*”.

A “*reservoir*” is a *place* where *large amounts* of *water* are *kept* for the *needs* *of* a *city* or town.
*B.* The Bible is saying in these Vs that by* following man‑made plans, Israel could hold no water.*

In other words, *They exchanged God's glory for that which couldn't profit.

They *couldn't prosper because* *they had* their *own plans *& *not God's plans.

Believers today need to *take a lesson from this*, & *get God's plan so* that we can *prosper.

*God doesn't* want *us* to be *empty cisterns*, He *wants* us to be *full reservoirs*.

But it's *up to each individual* whether to be an *empty cistern or a full reservoir*.

Again (*/PSA 92:10/*) Says, “*/I shall be anointed with fresh oil./*”

*Believers won't be* able to be *full reservoirs* for God's glory *without* the *anointing* of God upon them.

You *need* to be *anointed *by the *H.S.* so that everything you do will *prosper* as you *fulfill God's plan* for your life.

*How* are *believers* going to *maintain the anointing* of God?

The *answer* is very *simple*; we need to *receive a fresh anointing.*

*Old oil* will become *stale,* it will become *rancid* *or *it will *run out.*

*God wants* His *people *to continually* receive* a *fresh anointing* so they *won't* be *empty cisterns.

But now the *big question* comes, *How* are we going to *receive* a *fresh anointing* from God, so that we *won't be broken*, *empty cisterns*, *but full reservoirs *to God's glory?
*A.* *What are* the *characteristics* of* those *who are *full reservoirs, *those who *maintain *a* fresh anointing* upon there lives?

If God wants us full reservoirs then *what does He want us full of.
