Two weeks ago we started talking about finding God’s plan for your life. I can show you things from the Bible that reveals God’s will for all of us, but there are things that He wants you to do that would be different from someone else. I can’t tell you what God wants you to do on an individual basis. You have to find out what God wants you to do and the only way to get that revelation is to spend time in His presence.

     I. PRO 29:18

              A. This scripture is so true, we need to have a purpose, a plan, a vision, or a goal.

                        1. If we don’t the Bible says that we are going to perish.

                                  a. So we need to have that vision,

                                  b. But you know what’s better than having your own vision? Having God’s vision for your life.

                        2. 2PET 1:10

                                  a. God has called all of us 1st out of darkness into His light.

                                  b. But He’s also given all of us a personal calling.

                                           i. Some are called to be a father or a mother. Some are called to be a husband or a wife. Some are call to be a business man or to work at a certain job, maybe to be a finical blessing to the body of Christ.

                                  c. But God has given us a ministry.

                                           i. (2 Corinthians 5:18) Says, “That God has given to us the ministry of reconciliation.”

ii. This is what we are all called to do, but God has some other things for you to do.

                                                     a. The timing may not be right for you to do what God has given you.

                                                     b. (Habakkuk 2:3) Says, “For the vision (that goes for the vision or the goal that God wants you to do) [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

                                                     c. God does have something for you to do. Just don’t get ahead of God.

                        3. Satan will try to stop what God wants you to do.

                                  a. He tries to stop marriages with separation and divorce.

                                  b. He tries to get mother’s or father’s to abandon or abuse their children.

                                  c. He tries to steel finances so that you would lose your business.

                                  d. He wants to stop the ministry of reconciliation through fear and complacency.

                                  e. And he doesn’t want you to do what God has told you to do.

              B. ACTS 16:16-18

                        1. In (V 16) It says that the woman had a “spirit of divination.”

                                  a. The wordDivinationcomes from the Greek wordPuthon {poo’-thone},” which is a snake. One of my Bibles has a footnote that says it is a “Python.”

                                           i. This evil spirit is like a Python.

ii. A python will wrap itself around it’s prey.

                                  b. Satan will try to wrap himself around you, trying to get you involved in and tangled up in things that is not the will of God.

                                           i. He will try to get your eyes off of what God wants you to do, and it will be a bondage to you.

                                                     a. Can you imagine being wrapped in a Python that is as much as 20 feet long.

                                                     b. That’s real bondage.

ii. That bondage might be lust, greed or other areas of sin, but it can also be trying to correct the world’s problems.

                                                     a. There is nothing wrong with doing good, and we should do good, but he might be so caught up in salving the world’s problems that you lose track of what God wants you to do.

                        2. A Python will not only wrap itself around a person but, it will also squeeze its prey until its last breath is gone and finally dies.

                                  a. Satan wants to choke out the word that God has given you on what to do.

                        3. Go back to 2PET 1:10

                                  a. In other words, “Be diligent in doing the job that God has called you to.”

                                  b. Keep your finger there in (2PET 1:10) and turn with me to HAB 2:2.

                                           i. You need to keep the vision, the goal, the plan, the work that God gave you before you.

ii. If you keep it before you, you won’t get your eyes on anything else.

                        4. Go back to 2PETER 1:10 “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.” (stumble)

                                  i. If you’re diligently doing what God has told you to do, you’re not going to stumble or fall.

     II. Look at 1CO 2:9

              A. This V it tells us that God has prepared a direction for our lives.

                        1. God has a perfect plan for us.

                        2. T NIV translation says, “However, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.”

                                  c. But we don’t have to stop there.

              B. 1CO 2:10a That tells us that God has revealed His will to us.

                        1. Now you might be thinking, “Well if God has revealed his will to me, why don’t I know it?”

                                  a. Maybe you’re not listening or in t right place.

                                  b. (V 10) says, “God hath revealed {them} unto us by his Spirit.

                        2. How does God reveal things to us?

                                  a. It’s always by His Spirit to our spirits.

                                  b. Look at V. 11-14

              C. I think that this makes it very clear.

                        1. Who is it that’s going to hear the voice of God? Who is it that’s going to perceive the voice of the spirit?

                                  a. The one who is spiritually minded.

                                  b. (ROM 8:6) Says, “For to be carnally minded {is} death; but to be spiritually minded {is} life and peace.” (KJV)

                                           i. Why is it that the spiritually minded person is going to have life and peace?

ii. It’s because they are going to have the direction and guidance of God.

III. God’s not trying to withhold anything from us concerning our lives.

              A. Look at V 15a. (1Co 2:15a)

                        1. T word judgeth also means, discerneth or discerns.

                        2. Those that are spiritual will be able to discern what God is doing in there lives.

              B. In (JER 33:3) The Lord said, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

                        1. He says here, “When you call on me I will answer.” Then He goes on to add, “And I will show you great and mighty things.”

                        1. God wants you to have His guidance and His blessings.

                        2. John 10:2-4; 14-16

                                  a. The Lord is always trying to get us to follow Him. He’s always leading.

                                  b. We need to be led by Him and not other things or other situations.

                                           i. Sometimes we pray, “Lord open the doors that you want me to go through and close the doors that you do not want me to go through.”

                                                     a. That prayer is fine. We want God to open the doors for us and close the wrong ones.

                                                     b. But just because a door is open does not mean that we are to go through it.

ii. The devil will try to open the wrong door.

                                  c. If you’re being led by weather a door is open or not, you’re being led by a fleece.

                                           i. Do you know what a fleece is? Saying God if you want me to do this, then you do this.

                                  d. We are not led by fleeces. We are led the His Holy Spirit.

IV. There’s many scriptures that promise us that God will direct us.

              A. (PSA 23:2) Says, “He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.” (KJV)

              B. (PSA 37:23) Says, “The steps of a {good} man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” (KJV)

              C. (Pro 3:5-6) (5) “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (6) In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

                        1. I think we all believe (MAR 11:24) Which tells us when we have God’s promise on something, we have to believe that ye receive, and ye shall have {them}.

                        2. We have the promises of God that he will guide us, believe that you receive His direction, and ye shall have it.

                                  a. Where {there is} no vision, the people perish.

                        3. ROM 11:29

                                  a. Many translations say that God’s call is irrevocable.

                                           i. If God’s been tugging at your heart for a while it’s time to go with it.

                                  b. Get His plan, His vision, have that as a goal before you and be faithful to that call.
