We’re going to pick up we left off last time on our teaching of faith and confession.
*I) *Look at *MARK 11:24*.
*A) *Notice that in this *V* it *says* that “*When you pray, believe that ye receive*.”
*1) *You *have to believe* or *have faith before you’ll receive*.
*a) **It’s very important* that you *get a hold* of *what Jesus is saying* in this verse.
This verse is *probably the main key* *for success in* *FAITH AND CONFESSION*.
*(i) *In (*verse 23*) *Jesus* is *talking about confession*.
The *1st word* in (*verse 24*) is “*Therefore*,” which *means* he’s *CONNECTING THE TWO THOUGHTS TOGETHER* *and* *GIVING FURTHER EXPLANATION*.
*(ii) **What 2 thoughts* *is he connecting together?*
*Prayer and Confession*.
*(iii) **And WHAT does he give FURTHER EXPLANATION on* in (verse 24)*?* *HOW PRAYER AND CONFESSION WORKS*.
*b) *In (*verse 24*) He *says* *when you Pray or Confess the Word* of God *you have to BELIEVE THAT YOU RECEIVE *and *THEN* *you’ll have it*.
*(i) *Listen how the *NIV* translation puts it, “*Therefore I tell you*, *whatever you ask for in prayer* (we already know that’s *also* *confession*), *BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED IT*, *and it will be yours*.”
*(ii) **Notice* the *order*, *1st* *PRAY OR CONFESS the Word*, *2nd* *BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED IT* (*believe* that you already *have it* right *now*), and *3rd* *IT WILL BE YOURS *(*FUTURE TENSE*).
*c) *From these Vs.
we can see the *importance* of *having faith* *or believing* *the promises* of God.
*d) *There’s *power in faith**.*
*(i) *(*1 Peter 1:5*) Says*/, /*“*Who are kept* (The New American Standard Bible says “*PROTECTED*”) *by the power of God through faith unto salvation*.”
“*SALVATION*” really means “*ALL OF GOD’S PROMISES*.”
*(ii) *It’s *through salvation* that *all God’s promises* have been *made available* to us.
*(iii) **It’s through faith* that *you tap into the Power of God* and into the promises of God.
*2) *But *how* do you *get* th*e **faith* to receive?
*a) *(*ROM 10:17*) Says, */“/**So then faith {cometh} by hearing, and hearing by the word of God*.” (KJV)
*B) **(2PET 1:3*) Says, “*According as his divine power**/ /**hath given unto us**/ /*(past tense meaning it’s already done)* all things that {pertain} unto life and godliness*.”
*1) *It’s *not* a *matter* of *God doing something*; *He’s already done it*.
*a) **If we want to receive we have to do something*.
*(i) **We need to release the Power of God*.
*2) **We already* said that *faith releases the Power of God*.
*But where is it that faith takes place*?
*It’s in you heart*.
*a) **If it’s in your heart*, you’re going to speak it.
*If the Word of God is in your heart**, you’re going to speak the Word.*
*(i) **Confession and faith* *go hand in hand*.
You *can’t separate them* *and* *expect* your *faith* to *work*.
*II) *Let’s go back and take a *look at Abraham again*.
*A) *Turn with me to *Romans 4:16-21*.
*1) *Let’s *break down* these *Vs*.
a little bit; because there’s so *much truth* contain here.
*a) **1st* it says in (*verse 16*), *“Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace.”*
The *NIV* says, *“The promise comes by faith, so that it may be by grace.”*
*(i) *That verse tells us that *it’s through faith that we tap into God’s Grace*.
*(ii) **God’s Grace* *is* all of *God’s power*, *His anointing*, and *all* *His promises*.
It’s *by faith* *we tap into what God has* for us.
*b) *The (*middle of verse 16*) says, *“To the end the promise might be sure to all the seed.”*
The *NIV* says, *“And may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring.”*
*(i) *In other words, *when you COME to God IN FAITH the* *PROMISE *is *GUARANTEED*.
*c) *The *last half of (verse 16)* *tells us* that this is *NOT for the JEW ONLY but also* for *those* *who were of the faith of Abraham*, (or who have the *same like and precious faith* that Abraham had.)
*d) *In (*verse 17*) it says *referring to God*, *“Who calls those things that be not as though they were.”*
*(i) **This is the same* type of *faith* that *Jesus told the disciples to have* *back in (MARK 11:22)*.
*(ii) **Calling those things that be not as though they were*, is a *principal* *from the Word* of God that *all of us should be putting to practice*.
*(a) **That means* *SPEAKING *forth *the PROMISES *of God *and* *PUTTING *your *FAITH IN GOD that those words will come to pass*.
*e) *(*Verse 18*) says, *“Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.”*
*(i) **When Paul says, “Who against hope believed in hope”* it *means* that *in the natural it LOOKED IMPOSSIBLE *for him *to HAVE CHILDREN*, *but* *he CHOSE to BELIEVE that IT WAS POSSIBLE*.
*(ii) **How could he believe* that was *possible?*
*Because of God’s Word* that said, *“So shall by seed be.”*
*f) **The next 3 Vs*.
*tells us how he received* the promise.
*(i) *Let’s read *Romans 4:19* again.
*(ii) *The Word *“CONSIDERED”* here in this *verse* means *from the Strong’s* concordance, *“TO FIX ONE’S EYES OR MIND UPON.”*
*(iii) **He REFUSED TO LOOK AT THE CIRCUMSTANCES* *and* *he REFUSED to LET HIS MIND STAY ON the NEGATIVE*.
*g) **What are your circumstances*?
*Sickness*, *financial problems*, *emotional problems*, *family problems*, *mental problems?*
*(i) **Refuse to look at those things*.
*Sure do what needs to be done* in the natural, *but GET your MIND the PROBLEM AND the ANSWER*, *which is found in the Word* of God.
*h) *In *(verse 20)* *it says* that *HE STAGGERED NOT AT THE PROMISE OF GOD THROUGH UNBELIEF*.
*(i) **Staggering at the promise* of God *would be keeping your eyes* *and mind* *on the problem*.
*(ii) *But *Abraham was strong in faith*, *which means* *he believed* what *God* said.
*(iii) *The *last part* of (*verse 20*) *says* *“GIVING GLORY TO GOD.”*
*(a) **He gave glory to God* *and* *praise God* *before* he ever *saw* the *answer*.
*i) *And in (*verse 20*) it *says that HE WAS FULLY PERSUADED*.
*In other words*, *he was IN UNWAVERING FAITH that what GOD promised He WOULD BRING IT TO PASS*.
*2) *Paul said in (*1THES 5:24*) *“Faithful is He that called you, who will do it*.”
*God is faithful to perform it*.
*a) *In (*JER 1:12*) the Lord said*, “I will hasten my word to perform it*.”
*B) *Turn to *HEB 10:23*.
*a) *The word “*PROFESSION*” in this *V* is the same *Greek* word for “*CONFESSION*”.
*b) *So in other words this *V* *says*, “*Hold fast to your confession of faith, for God is faithful that promised*.”
*III) **MAT 8:5-10, 13*.
*A) **Jesus spoke* the* **Word* and th*e **servant was healed**.*
*1) *But *notice** something else* that Jesus said in *V 10** (read)*
*2) **Why* did *this man have* such *great faith**?*
*a) *He *had revelation** **of the power and authority** **of the Word* of God.
*b) **If you get this revelation** for yourself **you* too *will have great faith**.*
*B) *In (*HEB 11:3*) it says, “*Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God*.”
*1) *The *worlds* were *framed by the Word* of God.
*2) **There is power in* the *spoken Word* of God.
*a) **Once you begin to get this revelation* *and you start confessing God’s Word for yourself* *you’ll begin to see God’s hand move* *in your life* *and in your situations*.
