! I.   Colossians 2:4-5
!! A.  Only this full knowledge and wisdom in Christ can keep you from being deceived.
!!! 1.    /Many will come/ /with/ their /enticing words/ to try to /get you off track/ or to /error from the truth/.

The Word /"ORDER"/ in this verse literally /means/, /"rank/, /order/ /or/ /arrangement."/
!!! 2.    This /gives/ us a /little indication/ that the /church/ was /operating/ in an /orderly/ fashion, but also there was /no jealousy/ in the church.

!!! 1.
The word /"steadfastness"/ literally /means/, /"solidness."/
!!!! a)    /They were strong in faith/ /or/ better translated /"they were solid in faith/ or strong in faith."
!!!! b)    The reason for this is that the word /“faith”/ is /linked/ with the /article/ /“THE,”/ but the Greek always puts the word “the” before most nouns; it is /up the translator/ to /include it or not/.
!!!!! (1)  The general rule is “if the noun makes sense with the article “THE” you include it, but if it is awkward in the sentence, you would leave it out.
!!!!! (2)  In this case the article “THE” is found in this verse in the Greek, but the translators leave it off.
!!!!! (3)  My point is, any time you see the phrase “Of THE faith,” you can leave the article off and say it “Of faith” instead of “Of THE faith.”
!!!!!! (a)   The /same/ is /true/ /with/ /“In THE faith,”/ you can word it /“IN FAITH.”/
!!! 2.    /Faith in whom?/

!! B.  I got a little ahead of myself so let’s go back to Verse 6. (read)
!!! 1.    Now, /Paul/ is /talking to Gentiles/ who /never walked in the Jewish law/.
!!!! a)    So, /he’s asking them/, /“How did you get saved?”/
And of course it was /by faith/, /faith in Him./
!!!! b)    So, now /he’s saying/ to them, /“So now continue to walk in Him.”/ /HOW/, /IN FAITH./
!!!!! (1)  So, what he’s saying to them is don’t get caught up in the doctrines and traditions of men.
!!! 2.    /Well/, /how are we to walk/, “/Rooted and built up in him,/ /and stablished (strong) in faith/, /as ye have been taught,/ /abounding therein with thanksgiving.”/
