HOOK

Read & Record ahead, Ask the right questions, Pull out the timeless principles, Apply those principles
It inspires me to see that you are responding to my encouragement— meet our sisters in Christ from our Life Group in Dubai— Vicky & Maricel [show photo]
Yesterday we learned the very important spiritual truth and theological fact about salvation— How we may be saved?— to receive salvation by grace— we must be “born again”— born of water and the Spirit
Today we will touch on, I’d say the most important verse in the Bible— I consider this the core of God’s message to us— the synopsis of the entire scripture
Every letter, every word, every sentence, every verse, every paragraph, every section, every chapter and every book of the Bible revolves around these words of Jesus—
Let’s take a look— Open your Bible still on Chapter 3— I’ll read from verse 8-16— I’m using the NIV [New International Version] translation of the Bible this time— later on I will tell you why I am using several translations of the Word of God— there’s a great reason behind that— meanwhile, let’s dive in to our study this morning

BOOK

John 3:8–16 NIV
8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” 9 “How can this be?” Nicodemus asked. 10 “You are Israel’s teacher,” said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? 11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony. 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
' Juan 3:8-16
FACTS:
The Wind— The Greek word used here is “pneuma”— can mean wind, breath or spirit. John uses the metaphor of the wind as a power that is felt but unseen to explain the power of the Spirit of God— This echoes God’s Spirit hovering before His creative works began— Genesis 1:2
Israel’s teacher— the Greek equivalent is “rabbi”
The Son of Man— messianic title used by Jesus to express his heavenly origin, earthly mission and glorious future coming— it does not refer merely to his human nature [Jesus is 100% man & 100% God]. It reflects on the heavenly origin and divine dignity of Jesus
QUESTION: Who may be saved?

LOOK

YOU CANNOT TELL WHERE IT COMES FROM OR WHERE IT IS GOING. SO IT IS WITH EVERYONE BORN OF THE SPIRIT
We cannot tell whom he [the Holy Spirit] will bestow this life from heaven
While we know that we are “elected”— we cannot tell who those elected [chosen] are— write down the word ELECTED the word used in the Bible is “predestined”— we will study that when we come to that point. Meanwhile, if you’re curious and you want to look ahead into that— read and study and
Romans 8:28–30 NIV
28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. 30 And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
Roma
Ephesians 1:4–5 NIV
4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—
Ephesi
I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU OF EARTHLY THINGS AND YOU DO NOT BELIEVE; HOW THEN WILL YOU BELIEVE IF I SPEAK OF HEAVENLY THINGS?
Nicodemus needs to be willing to accept His witness— one must be willing to believe
NO ONE HAS EVER GONE INTO HEAVEN EXCEPT THE ONE WHO CAME FROM HEAVEN
This statement of Jesus may be perceived as contradiction to the OT depictions of Enoch [] and Elijah [] that were both taken bodily to heaven
The implication is that no one has both ascended to heaven to receive divine revelation and descended to earth to give an account of that revelation in the same way that Jesus has as the incarnate Word of God
JUST AS MOSES LIFTED UP THE SNAKE IN THE WILDERNESS, SO THE SON OF MAN MUST BE LIFTED UP
At this early, Jesus already predicted his crucifixion
Numbers 21:9 NIV
9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived.
Numbers
As they traveled, people grew impatient— they spoke against God and Moses
The Lord sent venomous snakes— they bit many Israelites and died— Moses prayed--
The Lord said to Moses— Make a snake and put it up on a pole— anyone who is bitten can look at it and live—
WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE ETERNAL LIFE
Now, this answers our question for today— “whoever believes”
God gave His only Son— that’s grace— we are given something we don’t deserve
We are saved by grace
QUESTION: Who may be saved?
