As I was *studying* about the *birth of Jesus*, I was *asking* the *Lord*, “*What* should I *minister on* *for* a *Christmas* message.”
*All* that I *received* from the Lord was to *minister on* the “*birth of Jesus*.”
I *told Him*, “*Yes*, I know that, *but what point* should I *bring out* in that message.”
*All* that *I got* *was* to *minister on* the *Birth of Jesus*.
*I.*
*I thought* I should *start* *with* a *verse* that *told of Jesus coming*, *thousands of years before His birth*.
*A.*
In (*/GEN 3:15/*) we have the *earliest prophecy* of Jesus coming.
It says, “*/And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel/*.”
*1.*
What this */V/* is *saying* is that there is *one coming* that is *from the seed of woman* and *He will crush Satan's head*.
*a.*
Even *in this* */V/* *we can* also *see* a *hint* that *Jesus was going to be born from a virgin*.
*b.*
*The statement* that Jesus would come from a “*/seed of woman/*” is a very *unusual statement* for the Jews.
*i.*
The *Jews always referred* *to someone as the son of the father*.
(*Genealogy*)
                                           *ii.*
Even the *importance of a person*, *went back to who their father was*.
*2.*
When *it referred to Jesus as* the “*seed of woman*” it was *saying* that He was *not* going to *have* a *father*, at least *not* an *earthly one*.
*B.*
Let's turn over to the */NT/* to the book of */Matthew 1:18–2:15/*
                        *1.*
Did you know that the *name Jesus stems from the Hebrew word* “*yeh-ho-shoo'-ah*” which *means* “*Jehovah is salvation*.”
*C.*
Lets go over to */Luke's/* *account* of the *birth of Jesus* to get a *fuller picture* of what took place.
*1.*
*/LUKE 1:26–56/*
                                  *a.*
Just a note on (*/V 26/*) */Gabriel/*.
He is an *archangel*; the angel God *used to send messages of great importance* to man; *sent to Daniel*, to *Zacharias*, and to *Mary*.
*His name means* “*/warrior of God/*” *or* “*/man of God/*.”
*2.*
Continue the story */LUKE 2:1–40/*
                        *3.*
The */Gospels/* of */Mark/* and */John/* *don't* *record* *anything* *about* the *birth* of Jesus.
*a.*
But */JOHN/* *does* *record something* *of importance*.
*/JOHN 1:1–3, 14/*
                                  *b.*
This */V/* *shows* us the *Deity of Jesus*.
...
     *II.*
*Right now* I want to *look at* the *importance of Jesus **/virgin/ birth*.
*A.*
We *already mentioned* that in (*/GEN 3:15/*) that Jesus was *going to be born from* the *seed of woman*, which *points to* the *virgin birth*.
*1.*
*/MATT/* also said it.
In (*/Matthew 1:23/*) He wrote “*/Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son/*.”
*2.*
Luke also records it in (*/LUKE 1:34–35/*)
                        *3.*
In the book of (*/ISA 7:14/*) we have a *prophecy* that the *Messiah would be born from a virgin*.
*B.*
*Why* is it so *important* that *Jesus* was *born from a virgin*?
*1.*
*/1st/* it was to */fulfill prophecy/*.
*2.*
*/2nd/* to *let everyone know* that */Jesus could not have an earthly father/*.
*3.*
The *most important thing* that *we need to get out of this is* that */Jesus did have a Father and that was God/*.
*a.* *John said* that *Jesus* was the *only begotten of the Father*.
*b.* *Paul wrote* in (*/GAL 4:4/*) “*/God sent forth his Son, made of a woman/*.”
*C.*
*Why* is it *so important* that *God is Jesus' Father*?
                        *1.* *Let me answer it this way*.
*2.*
*What if God was not Jesus father* *& Jesus had an earthly father*?
*a.*
*/1st/* of all the */sin nature/* is *passed on from the natural father*.
We also *call that* the */Adamic nature/*.
*i.*
*If Jesus had a* */sin nature/* *he would have **/sinned/*.
*If He sinned He could not die for our sin*, *that means* there could be *no salvation for us*.
*b.*
*/2nd/* the */Bible/* would be */unreliable/*.
*i.*
The *Bible* *declares* that *Jesus was born from a virgin* and *born from the Father*, so the */Bible would be in error/*.
*c.*
*/3rd/* the *Bible calls Jesus the Son of God over 40 times*.
*Again* we would have */many errors/*.
*d.*
*/4th/* *if Jesus isn't the Son of God*, *how* can we *have faith* that *Jesus* */went away to prepare a place for us & that He is coming again/* for us.
*e.*
*/#5/* *if* the *Bible* is in *error* so *many times* */how/* do we */know what to believe/*?
*3.*
*/But Jesus was born of a virgin & His Father is God/*.
*a.*
Therefore */He does not have a sin nature/*, He has */never sinned/*.
Jesus has a */divine nature/*, a */heavenly nature/*.
*b.*
*/He is the Son of God/* & */He is coming again/*.
And the */Bible is without error/*.
*III.*
About *1993 years ago a virgin named Mary gave birth to a little child who was born in a manger*, & *they named Him Jesus* in *obedience with* the *message* that *God sent through* the angel *Gabriel*.
*A.*
*God sent Jesus into this world to be* */our Lord/*, */our Savior/*, */to be the Messiah/*, */the redeemer/*, */to save us from Hell & from our sins/*.
*1.*
Look with me to */JOHN 3:16–17/*
                        *2.*
*/Jesus is the reason for the season/*, *not gifts or presents*, */but Jesus/*.
*/In this Christmas season don't lose sight of Jesus/*.
*/Keep your attention & focus on Him/*.
And have a very Merry Christmas.
