We’re going to *continue teaching* *on* the subject of the *Blood Covenant.*
*You and I **have entered into a Blood covenant **with the Lord* Jesus Christ.
*This Blood Covenant* is *something* that is *so important* that *it **even means* *our salvation.*
*When we entered into this Covenant **it meant* that *all* that *we have** and **all that we owe** **is* now *the Lord’s* *and all* that *He has** and **all* that *He owes** **is now ours*.
*All we had **to give Him **was ourselves*.
But *we also had a great debt* and that was *sin*.
The Bible says, *“The wages of sin is death.”*
*Jesus* came and *paid the price for us*.
*Jesus came **and **gave us His **righteous* and He even *gave us a place in Heaven*.
*The shed Blood of Jesus* *forever sealed* *this* Blood *Covenant*.
*I.*
Now to give you a *brief review* of what we covered last time, we said that there are *8 steps* that can be *taken **when* *someone **wants to enter into a covenant* with another person.
*A.*
*Normally* *a person would only **follow 2 or 3* of these steps to enter into a covenant.
*Jesus actually followed all 8*, which is revealed in the Word of God.
                        *1.*
The *1st step* would be to *exchange coats or garments*.
*a.*
This was an *important step*.
The act *symbolized* that *all I have is yours and **all that you have is mine*.
*iii.
(ISA 61:10)* *Says That* *Jesus hath clothed me with the garments of salvation*, *he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness.*
*2.*
The *2nd step* would be to *exchange weapons*.
*a.*
*Jesus gave us a weapon*, the *sword of the Spirit* that is the *Word* of God.
                                  *b.* *This step signifies* that *all their strength belongs to you*.
*3.*
The *3rd step* was to *exchange names in some way*.
(Take 1st name and use it as the last name.)
*a.*
This would *give* you the *power of attorney* to all that belonged to your covenant partner.
*i.*
You would have a *legal right to use that name*.

He also said in *(JOHN 16:23)* *“Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give {it} you.”*

In *(MARK 16:17–18)* He said *“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”*

The *4th step* in entering into a covenant *is called the **blood cutting*.
*a.*
A *cut was made on the wrists **or **palms* of 2 people’s hands.
They would then *Shake hands **or **mix the **blood together*.
*i.*
*From that point* on you became *blood brothers*.
*b.*
*When Jesus shed His Blood on the cross **we began to enter into a covenant relationship with Him*.
*5.*
The *5th step* consists of the *splitting of animals*.
*a.*
They would *cut the animal* from the *back of the head **to the bottom of the spine*.
*b.*
This *symbolized* *something* very *important*.
*i.*
*It told everyone that they are now 1*.
*ii.*
*Just as the animal **is 1* *but 2 halves*.
*iii.*
*So we would be one with our covenant partner*.

*(1COR 6:17)* *Says* that *we are 1 spirit with the Lord.*
*d.* *In the Old Testament* *this is how people entered into a covenant*.

*Step # 6* dealt with the *pronouncing of the blessing and the cursings*.

A *covenant **is a contract* *and* *even more*.

*Every contract **has certain **LAWS AND CONDITIONS **attached to it* *that must be adhered to*, and *if you fail to do so*, *then* the *contract* is *either* *ANNULLED** or* *you are obliged to pay a penalty*.

The *blood covenant* is the *same way*, and even more so.

The *7th step* was the *setting up of a memorial*.
*a.*
The *memorial* was *set up* to *remind* them continually, *forever*, that *they have a covenant*.
*i.*
*A memorial could be* just about *anything*; it could be a *tree* or the *exchanging of sheep*, or a *bunch of rocks*, or *one rock* *with* even the *terms of the covenant written on it*.
*ii.*
*There’s many different memorials* written *in the Word* of God, *between man and man*, *and* *between God and man*.
*b.*
Let’s *look at* the *memorial between God and man*.

The last *step (8th)* was to *eat the covenant meal*.
*a.*
They would *eat bread and drink wine*.
*i.*
The *bread symbolized, or represented, the body of the person* and *the wine represented the blood*.

*When the bread was given*, by 1 to the other and *they ate it*, *it symbolized again* that *they are 1*.
