A journey to his final destination where Jesus would pay for the sins of the world. We pray you are encouraged and that God continues to lead you in faith, even when it costs us something.

TODAY
We find ourselves at home
In our living rooms
Contemplative in light of the all that has been going on.
HONESTLY
The followers of Christ had a lot in common with us prio
His Mercy rose with the sun
I believe it is the perfect time to look at this specific story.
His Mercy is hitting differently
TURN WITH ME TO
1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”
4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:
5 “Tell the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”
6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. 8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:
“Hosanna to the Son of David!
‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Hosanna in the highest!”
10 And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?”
11 So the multitudes said, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth of Galilee.”

1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
FOR THE DISCIPLES IT WAS A REGULAR OL’ DAY FOLLOWING JESUS
AS THEY DREW NEAR JERUSALEM
THEY CAME TO BETHPHAGE
Bethphage was to the East of Jerusalem
A city near Bethany on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives.
From this place Jesus sent two of his disciples to go do something for him
2 saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.”

HE COMMANDED THEM
GO INTO THE VILLAGE OPPOSITE OF YOU
IMMEDIATELY YOU WILL FIND A DONKEY AND A COLT TIED WITH HER.
LOOSE THEM AND BRING THEM TO ME.
OH AND BTW IF ANYONE SAYS ANYTHING TO YOU, JUST USE THE MAGIC WORDS
“THE LORD HAS NEED OF THEM”
AND GUESS WHAT, THEY WILL IMMEDIATELY LET THEM GO.
Church, The God of The Bible works in such marvelous ways.
He works in ways that will blow our minds
As we begin our journey walking with Him
He calls us to do and say some very marvelous things
Two weeks ago, I woke up at 6am on Sunday morning with the service already queued up for the morning.
He said “Do it over, and this time invite people to make first time declarations of faith”
Last week He said “ Buy the Nurses from Randy’s work lunch, I want them to know how much I love them”
We did it.
It’s been a wild ride filled with many stories of redemption and revitalization
Send some money to Italy
Me: What for?
As we venture to see what this looks like passed this season
I am more encouraged now more than ever to find out what exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think means.

Loose them
We ended up helping a church pay for their building
To heed the words of our Senior Pastor and be moved to action
FRIENDS, IN THE MOMENT
Bring them to me
WHEN GOD ASKS YOU TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT
WHEN GOD ASKS YOU TO STEP OUT IN FAITH
IT MAY SEEM SCARY
IT MAY SEEM CRAZY
SHOULDN’T IT FEEL DIFFERENT THOUGH?

MAYBE KNOWING ABOUT THE MOSAIC COVENANT
MAYBE KNOWING ABOUT THE POETIC BOOKS
MAYBE KNOWING A BIT OF THE MAJOR PROPHETS
MAYBE THEY HAD HEARD OF A GUY NAMED ZECHARIAH
HOWEVER, I HIGHLY DOUBT THEY KNEW THEY WOULD BE THE ONES TO FULFILL ONE OF HIS PROPHECIES

If there is drama

IT JUST SO HAPPENS THAT YOU WERE IN THE MINOR PROPHETS
IN THIS LITTLE BOOK NAMED ZECHARIAH
YOU JUST SO HAPPENED TO BE IN CHAPTER 9 WHEN THE LORD STARTED MOVING WITHIN YOUR SOUL
9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.
YOU REJOICE AT THE FACT THAT ONE DAY GOD WILL COME AND SAVE HIS PEOPLE
YOU ARE QUIZZICAL BECAUSE THE GOD YOU ARE WAITING FOR IS COMING LOWLY ON A DONKEY
MAYBE KNOWING A BIT OF THE MAJOR PROPHETS
YOU LOOK OUTSIDE YOUR WINDOW AND YOU CHUCKLE BECAUSE YOUR DONKEY AND COALT ARE HAVING A BLAST TIED TO EACH OTHER
MAYBE THEY HAD HEARD OF A GUY NAMED ZECHARIAH
THEN YOU WONDER TO YOURSELF, HEY I WONDER IF GOD WOULD USE MY DONKEY AND MY COLT
NAW, I HAVEN’T BEEN A GOOD JEW
HOWEVER, I HIGHLY DOUBT THEY KNEW THEY WOULD BE THE ONES TO FULFILL ONE OF HIS PROPHECIES
NAW, I HAVEN’T TITHED IN FOREVER
NAW, I’M NOT ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE
AND ALL OF A SUDDEN TWO GUYS SHOW UP AT YOUR DOOR AND BEGIN TO LOOSEN THE DONKEY AND THE COLT
AND THEY TAKE IT
AS YOU RUN AFTER THEM, YOU SEE A HUGE CROWD OF PEOPLE AND THE PEACE OF GOD THAT SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING BEGINS TO FILL YOUR HEART AND MIND.
YOU’RE BUMMED ABOUT THE LOSS OF YOUR PROPERTY
BUT YOUR CURIOSITY OF WHAT GOD IS DOING IS ACTING AS A COUNTER BALANCE
MAYBE YOU ARE THE TWO DISCIPLES
WHO WOKE UP THAT MORNING WONDERING WHAT MIRACLE JESUS WOULD DO
YOU’VE BEEN WALKING WITH HIM FOR A FEW WEEKS, MONTHS, MAYBE EVEN A COUPLE YEARS
JUST TAKING IN ALL THAT HE HAS BEEN SAYING
SEEING HIM DO SOME CRAZY THINGS
BUT YOU’VE NEVER REALLY BEEN CALLED UP TO PARTICIPATE
YOU ARE WONDERING IF YOU EVEN MATTER
YOU ARE STARTING TO WONDER IF JESUS IS THE MESSIAH
JESUS LOOKS TO YOU AS YOU DISCUSS HOW YOU’RE FEELING WITH YOUR HOMIE
AND HE TELLS YOU TO GO GRAB A DONKEY AND A COLT THAT ARE TIED UP IN THE VILLAGE ACROSS THE WAY
YOU’VE NEVER REALLY HAD AUTHORITY OVER ANYTHING
BUT HE GIVES YOU AUTHORITY OVER THE SITUATION
YOU’VE NEVER REALLY HAD A BIG RESPONSIBILITY
BUT TODAY HE IS GIVING YOU A GREAT RESPONSIBILITY
TO GO OVER AND GRAB THE ANIMALS THAT WILL BE USED TO FULFILL PROPHECY
As you doubted your calling,
As you contemplated if He was truly the Messiah
He calls you into His Story
Not just to be a part of it
But to fulfill a truth that was spoken of 500 years ago.
FRIENDS, WE ALL HAVE A ROLE IN GOD’S STORY
GOD IS CALLING US TO PARTICIPATE
GOD IS CALLING US INTO THE WORK OF HIS KINGDOM
NOW MORE THAN EVER
THERE ARE TWO OTHER GROUPS OF PEOPLE IN THIS STORY

As they approached Jerusalem
The peasants began to lay their cloaks down in homage
It was a sign of paying homage to the King
Just like the people ushered in King Jehu in
These people laid their coverings down on the ground

As they showed people who their King was
They proclaimed who their King was
But the language was interesting:
