23 After spending some time there, he departed and went from one place to the next through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.
Paul is beginning his 3rd missionary journey at the beginning of verse 23. As he begins to retrace his tracks, he begins to check on those believers and churches that he has come to love and care for. It was important to Paul to see believers clinging to and learning about Christ daily and how his Crucifixion provides rippling effects throughout their life.
We have to show each other we care about one another. It is important that other students realize that we have their best interest at heart.
Not only that, but we must care for the body of Christ and those we come into contact with. Do you realize that your parents, and even the senior adults are people who care for us and that we ought to care for.
27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

As charging disciples, we have to care for one another. Call and senior and check on them. Maybe that is to reach out to a kid in our church and check in and see how they are doing.

24 Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
This man named Apollos arrives at Ephesus. We were introduced last week to Priscilla and Aquila in Corinth. They were sent out and continued to be faithful to the Gospel message wherever they went…Now in Ephesus, they meet this man named Apollos.
Apollos was eloquent, competent in the scriptures, had been instructed in the way of the Lord. He spoke and taught accurately the things of Jesus, though only knew the baptism of John.
There is debate on whether or not Apollos was actually a believer, but what we do know is that he was open to learning and he never thought he was big enough or better than anyone else.
Priscilla and Aquila heard this man preaching in the synagogues...
Notice they didn’t call him out right there,
they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately. Remember, he knew only the baptism of John.
Apollos understood the Gospel, but he did not have understanding that the holy spirit comes and dwells inside of us through the baptism of Christ. This changes everything. The message of Christ’s baptism preaches the gospel boldly.
maybe you have not a full understanding of the gospel. I would love the opportunity to talk with you more about salvation and the beautiful picture that the baptism portrays of the gospel.

27 And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, 28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.
There was debate on whether Apollos was a believer prior to verse 27, but whatever your opinion, it is clear that he is a firm believer in Jesus Christ. As he desires to cross to Achaia, fellow brothers in the faith right encourages messages to the disciples in order to welcome this man named Apollos.
Apollos to Corinth, Priscilla and Aquila may of sparked his interest.
Corinth was not the place to be to refuting the Jews…correct, he was going to prove them wrong. These same jews in Corinth opposed and reviled Paul.
As Apollos arrived, he had every desire to help those who through grace believed.
Note that the power is in the Grace of Jesus. The grace of Jesus is what radically changes lives.
As Apollos looked to charge the disciples in Corinth, it was God’s word that was his driving force.
It wasn’t his eloquence, or compentency in the Scriptures, but the Scriptures alone.
Apollos love for the word of God and this helped him tremendously in his task to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.
Apollos understanding of the Old testament messiah enabled him to prove powerfully to the Jews that Jesus was this messiah.

1 And it happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the inland country and came to Ephesus. There he found some disciples. 2 And he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” And they said, “No, we have not even heard that there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said, “Into what then were you baptized?” They said, “Into John’s baptism.” 4 And Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.” 5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they began speaking in tongues and prophesying. 7 There were about twelve men in all. 8 And he entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. 9 But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus. 10 This continued for two years, so that all the residents of Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks.
