We’re going to *continue* on the *subject* of a *Right Mental Attitude*.
Our *attitude **plays a very important part* *in our Christian walk*.
Our *attitude can bring defeat* in our lives *or **it can help us overcome the enemy* *and* all the *obstacles* that we face.
*I) *We know that *faith is a very important*.
*True faith that resides in the heart*, *not* in the *head*.
(We can say that we agree with the Word, but it might not be in your heart.)
*A) **True faith* in the heart *will produce a right mental attitude*.
*1) *Turn with me to *TITUS 2:10**.*
*(a) *God wants us to make the *Gospel* of the Lord Jesus Christ *attractive to the world*.
*(i) *Again, he says in *(TITUS 2:10)* *“Adorn the doctrine of God.”*
*(ii) *The word *“Adorn”* *means* *“To beautify, to decorate, to make attractive.”*
*(b) **We are to **make* the *Gospel* of the Lord Jesus Christ *attractive to the world*, *but how?*
*2) *In Paul’s teaching in the book of *(TITUS 2)* we can see that *living a good* *holy life* *and* *doing what is right* *will adorn the gospel.*
*3) **But he also tells us* in *(TITUS 2:6)* *“To be sober minded.”*
*(a) **Sober minded can mean* *“to be of sound mind,* *to exercise self control,* and *to curb one’s passions.”*
*(b) *But it can *also mean* *“Having or indicating an awareness of things as they really are.”*
*(i) *In other words, *“Seeing things as they really are.”*
*(ii) **Not seeing things as the world sees things*, *but* we are to *see things through the eyes of the Word.*
*(c) *The *Word* is the *final authority.*
*(i) **(ROM 3:4)* Says, *“Let God be true, but every man a liar.”**
Jesus said in (JOHN 17:17), “L**et God be true, but every man a liar.”**
Paul* refers to the Word many times as the *“WORD OF TRUTH.”*
*(d) **What the Word of God says/ /is how things really are.*
*4) **When* you begin to *see things as* the *Word* of God *says they are* your *attitude* *will* *begin to **change*.
*B) **Having* a *right mental attitude* is going to *help* you *tremendously when problems come against you*.
*1) *Turn with me to *1 PETER 1:3-7.*
*(a) *In *(V6-7)* he’s *talking about* *when test and trials come.*
*(b) *But look at *1 PETER 1:13.*
*(i) *When he says, *“Gird up the loins of your mind,/ /**be sober,”* he *saying**,* *“Be clam, have the right mental attitude.”*
*2) **Problems* are *going to* *come*.
*Adverse circumstances will arise.*
*(a) **When it appears* *that* *nothing** is **going right* *in the natural*, *there is a tendency** **to lean towards the natural* *rather than** to put your **total trust in** **what the** **Word** **says**.*
*(i) *Let me say this, *God* is *not* the *author of problems*, *test, and trials*, *Satan is.*
*(ii) **God doesn’t get glory when a problem arises*, *and you fold up*, *compromise* *and* *let the Devil defeat you.*
*(iii) *But *He is glorified* *when you over come* the *problem* *through* His *Word*.
*II) **Last week* we *talked about** **Shadrach,** **Meshach,** and **Abednego**.*
They *over came* the *problem* that was *set before them*.
*A) **How did they over come?*
*1) **They faced* that *fiery** **trial* *with** **the** **right mental attitude.*
*(a) *They *didn’t complain,* they didn’t *murmur*, they didn’t *get hostile.*
*(i) **They said*, *“Our God will deliver us.”*
*2) **That* *right mental attitude* *and* their *faith in God* *opened** the **door** for **God to move*, *His super natural power.*
*B) *The *very** **worse time**/ /**to **have**/ a /**wrong**/ /**or**/ /**negative**/ /**mental**/ /**attitude**/ /**is when you’re** **under pressure**.*
*1) **Problems cause pressures**.*
*(a) *A *negative attitude* *will* only *bring more problems.*
*(b) *When *Israel* was *murmuring* and *complaining* against God, *God said**,* *“So be it unto you.”*
*(i) *Their *complaining made things worse.*
*III) **Peter* said in *(1 Peter 1:13)* *“Gird up the loins of your mind.”*
*A) **Paul* said in *(EPH 6:14)* *“Having your loins girt about with truth.”*
*1) **How**/ are you /**going to* *“Gird up the loins of your mind?”*
*(a) **With the truth of God’s Word.*
*(b) **Putting God’s Word in our heads*, *then**/ /**it will drop down into** **our** **hearts*.
*2) **Joshua tells us to meditate* *on the* *Word* of God.
*(a) **“Meditate”* *means* *“to think upon it.”*
*3) **(ROM 12:2) *tells us to *renew our minds.*
*(a) *The *only way* *to do that* is to *get* God’s *Word* *into* our *heads*.
*B) *When Peter says, *“Gird up the loins of your mind.”*
*(1PET 1:13)*
*1) *The word *“Gird”* *means* *“GET READY.”*
*(a) **When* the *problems** **come*, *WE NEED TO BE READY.*
*2) **Our** **mind** **and** **our** **spirit* *must** **be in** **agreement**.*
*(a) *You *can’t have faith* *in* your *heart* *and**/ /**be** **murmuring* *and complaining* *in* your *mind**.*
*(b) *You *can’t be saying* *in* your *heart*, *“My God shall supply all my needs”* *and** **screaming** **in** you **head**,* *“BUT THIS PROBLEM IS TOO BIG.”*
*(i) *Your *mind and* your *heart* have to be in *agreement*.
*(ii) **You **have to have** to **right mental attitude**.*
*(c) **When** your **heart** **says**,/ /**“My God shall supply all my needs,”* *your** **mind should be saying*, *“My God delivers me, he is more than enough, I have the victory in Christ Jesus,”* and *go on **with** your **rejoicing* *keeping** that **right mental attitude.

*IV) *Turn with me to *ISA 26:3.*
*A) *You will notice that *God** **has** **given** **us** **a** **promise**,* *but** we **must** **meet** **His** **condition**.*
*1) **The **promise is:* *“He will keep you in perfect peace.”*
*2) **The **condition is:* *“If your mind is stayed on Him.”*
*(a) **We can see** in this V* that *the** **mind plays a very important part** **in receiving* this promise.

*3) **But let me add this, the **2** words **“perfect peace”** is actually the **same word used twice.**
It is the **Hebrew** word “**Shalom**.”*
*(a) **However*, *the word* *“Shalom”* *means* *more* *then* *just* *“peace.”*
*Listen* to what the *Strong’s concordance* says, *“completeness**,* *soundness**,* *welfare**,* *peace*.
1a *completeness (in number).*
1b *safety**,* *soundness (in body).*
1c *welfare**,* *HEALTH**,* *PROSPERITY*.
1d *peace**,* *quiet**,* *tranquility**,* *contentment**.*
1e *peace**,* *friendship**.*

/1e2/ *with God especially in covenant relationship**.*

*(b) *Listen to the *Message translation*, *“People with their minds set on you, you keep completely whole”* [2]
*(c) *Your *mind plays* a *very important roll* in *receiving* *any** **of God’s** **promises**.*
*B) *I’m *not** **talking about** **mind power**.*
*1) *I’m *talking about* the *power of God’s Word* *working in a faith-filled heart* *and** **a renewed** mind.*
*2) **As your **mind is stayed upon Him**,* *you can face every situation* *with* the *right** **mental** **attitude*, *without* *worry* or *fear*.
*C) *Turn with me to *LUKE 12:22-32.*
*1) **Jesus** is **telling** us* *how to have** a* *“Worry Free”* *life*.
*(a) *He’s telling us *take no thought* *(don’t worry) **about** **material things*, *even* *if they seem* to be *necessities*.
*(b) **We don’t have to live** in **suspense** of what is going to **happen** **tomorrow**.*
*(i) **We **don’t** have to **have** a **negative or doubtful mind.*
*(c) **We can live with a positive attitude*, *knowing* that *God will takes care of us* if we will *simply* *seek 1st the kingdom of God**.*
*(i) **(Matt 6:33)* *“Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”*
*(ii) **You can have peace** **in life*, *you **can have** a **good positive mental attitude*, *because when** **you put His** **kingdom** **1st* */in your life/*, and *your* *mind stays upon Him**,* *you have** the **assurance** that **God** **will** **always** **take care of you**.*
*(iii) **That’s when the victory comes* and *that’s when we open the door for** **God’s miraculous power* *to be **in operation**.*
