God's Presence brings blessing and prosperity because of the Ark of the Covenant, which represented God's presence. David was a man after God's own heart because He loved the presence of God. He was passionate about it because David was convinced of God's presence being everything in His life. The things of God mattered to David because He lived to worship and please God.

David’s History

David was a man after God’s own heart not because He was quick to repent, but because He was after the presence of God, which was the Ark of the Covenant.
God delivered David from His enemies and made David famous throughout the land as He became King. From a shepherd boy to a king. God used David to bring the whole nation of Israel back to His ways that were written in the Law of Moses.
A man after God’s own heart can change the entire generation because of God’s favor on a person like that.
God is pleased to do so because David made God the King of His heart and He was convinced that the presence of God was all He needed.
In 1 Chronicles we will see how David tried to bring the Ark of the Covenant, but without the proper requirements.
1 Chronicles 13:1–14 NIV
1 David conferred with each of his officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds. 2 He then said to the whole assembly of Israel, “If it seems good to you and if it is the will of the Lord our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our people throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us. 3 Let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we did not inquire of it during the reign of Saul.” 4 The whole assembly agreed to do this, because it seemed right to all the people. 5 So David assembled all Israel, from the Shihor River in Egypt to Lebo Hamath, to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim. 6 David and all Israel went to Baalah of Judah (Kiriath Jearim) to bring up from there the ark of God the Lord, who is enthroned between the cherubim—the ark that is called by the Name. 7 They moved the ark of God from Abinadab’s house on a new cart, with Uzzah and Ahio guiding it. 8 David and all the Israelites were celebrating with all their might before God, with songs and with harps, lyres, timbrels, cymbals and trumpets. 9 When they came to the threshing floor of Kidon, Uzzah reached out his hand to steady the ark, because the oxen stumbled. 10 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah, and he struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God. 11 Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah. 12 David was afraid of God that day and asked, “How can I ever bring the ark of God to me?” 13 He did not take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. 14 The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house for three months, and the Lord blessed his household and everything he had.

Obed-Edom

Obed-Edom was blessed simply because the Ark of the Covenant was in His house!
The presence of God is not a ordinary thing to have. In fact, it is clear that the presence of God can prosper you and all that you have.
Today, the Ark of the Covenant which is the presence of God is in our hearts because of what Jesus did at the cross and by the Father sending the Holy Spirit to dwell within us.
The presence of God is to be taken care of because one cannot enter the presence of God simply by coming in, but it requires blood spilled.
We have that access by the blood of Jesus.
Yet, the Holy Spirit can be grieved because we refuse to be led by Him.
The Holy Spirit leads us to the Holy of Holies through the blood of Jesus where we can encounter the Father and receive His blessings.
One must learn to rely, be dependent, and be obedient upon the leading and power of Holy Spirit.
David after his first failed attempt to bring the Ark of the Covenant to His city. He searched in the Law of Moses on how to bring it.
1 Chronicles 15:1–3 NIV
1 After David had constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it. 2 Then David said, “No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, because the Lord chose them to carry the ark of the Lord and to minister before him forever.” 3 David assembled all Israel in Jerusalem to bring up the ark of the Lord to the place he had prepared for it.
1 Chronicles 15
1 Chronicles 15:11–16 NIV
11 Then David summoned Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel and Amminadab the Levites. 12 He said to them, “You are the heads of the Levitical families; you and your fellow Levites are to consecrate yourselves and bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel, to the place I have prepared for it. 13 It was because you, the Levites, did not bring it up the first time that the Lord our God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way.” 14 So the priests and Levites consecrated themselves in order to bring up the ark of the Lord, the God of Israel. 15 And the Levites carried the ark of God with the poles on their shoulders, as Moses had commanded in accordance with the word of the Lord. 16 David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their fellow Levites as musicians to make a joyful sound with musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.
1 Chronicles 15:25–29 NIV
25 So David and the elders of Israel and the commanders of units of a thousand went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the Lord from the house of Obed-Edom, with rejoicing. 26 Because God had helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the Lord, seven bulls and seven rams were sacrificed. 27 Now David was clothed in a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and as were the musicians, and Kenaniah, who was in charge of the singing of the choirs. David also wore a linen ephod. 28 So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with shouts, with the sounding of rams’ horns and trumpets, and of cymbals, and the playing of lyres and harps. 29 As the ark of the covenant of the Lord was entering the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul watched from a window. And when she saw King David dancing and celebrating, she despised him in her heart.
We are a Royal-Priesthood before God
He is due praise, worship, thanksgiving, for He is King of all the Earth and the One True God.
Sometimes we can’t feel or see him because we are too absorbed in our own lives because we think that God is only there to serve us, but He serves us for us to serve Him.
Like this pandemic it makes us reflect what really matters and who is God over our lives.
God made David King over all Israel because He knew that David was His chosen vessel to bring back the Ark of the Covenant and to want to make a house for God to dwell in.
David was not only King, but made known that God is the true King who is to be praised and brought back His ways into the lives of people and for them not live as they saw fit like in the times of Judges.
God’s presence must be stewarded and practiced for God’s presence never leaves us because of the Holy Spirit.
Because David’s Conviction to serve God and let God be King of His world God honored Him and made Him famous throughout the whole land.
This the end of this months series of being convinced.
Are you convinced?!
God is looking for the worshippers that are convinced that He is the way, truth, and the life.
You cannot go further in purpose with Jesus if you’re not convinced that He is who He says He is.
The disciples were convinced when Jesus said “follow me” and because Jesus did great things among them with signs, healings, and resurrecting the dead.
They followed Jesus to death and the Church of God began by the power of His Holy Spirit.
The apostles did mighty things in the name of Jesus and brought the kingdom of God to the people who were lost and God turned their hearts back and to God.
Just as God did through David and brought back His people back to Himself to worship Him the apostles as well did it in their ministries because they were convinced of Jesus being the true King of Israel.
In my life I serve and worship the Lord because He has made himself known to me and done great and mighty things in my life.
I am convinced that He has greater plans for my life and I will see the greater glory of God in greater ways than I have seen it to this day.
We are all in a journey and may not see it or feel now, but just wait because He is guiding you just as He guided David through times that He didn’t know what to do or feel that God was there.
David kept going because God gave Him a promise as teenager that He will become King of Israel some day.
David loved the presence of the Almighty and kept going because He was after God’s own Heart.
The Holy Presence of God is ever-present, but are you aware of it?
Do you want that presence just as it rested in Obed-Edom?
For it will prosper you and your household.
Come to His Holy Presence by the blood of Jesus and let Him be the King over your life.
