(Reader: We go to God now in this time of confession. Let’s pray together: God, fear is our enemy. Fear makes us hungry with full bellies; thirsty with water in our cups. Fear shortens our sight and abandons our neighbor. We confess our fear now in this time of silence. Silence. (Reader: ​ ​Let’s continue our prayer together, from Psalm 46: ) God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
