Going to have you turn to 1st Kings chapter 11. I'm excited that I finally finally don't get to leave you on anymore and actually start the series that I've been wanting * for some time. Now as we look through what I have titled for the earrings at 7 to biographies of the divided.

Starting in 1st Kings chapter 11. We're going to look at an ending if you're going today. After turning their you know, we're coming up on the year 2020 and when it comes to election, we know what that means. We know it's another very important election and you probably already been seeing and getting sick of the ads on television on the internet and many other places and people of Courts voice their opinions about such and such people and I don't know if you've ever heard people talk about well, you know, if I were the president or if I were the senator over by where the mayor of this is how I would do things. We're going to look at a man today is that actually got that opportunity? That's it may be that we ourselves never personally get that opportunity as much as we voice our complaints about our government. How often do we actually get the opportunity to be able to be put into that place of office? And then what are you going to do then? How are you going to handle yourself today is going to be a man who realizes that opportunity. No, I have you there in First Kings after 11. We're going to start reading at first number 26.

And jeroboam the son of nebat and efforts height of the Sirata Solomon servant whose mother's name was a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king and this was the college that he lifted up his hand against the King Solomon built in yellow and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father. And the man jeroboam was a mighty man of Valor and Solomon seems young man that he was industrious. You need him ruler over all the charge of the House of Joseph. When it came to pass that that time when your ago and went out of Jerusalem, not the prophet ahijah the shilonite found him in the way and he had a class himself with a new garment that they too were alone in a field and a Hydra caught him caught the new garment that was on here and wrench it in 12 pieces. And he said the jerboa take me 10 pieces for the saith the Lord the god of Israel behold. I will run to the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give 10 tribes to the but you shall have one try for my servant David steak in for Jerusalem. Steak the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel. Because that they have forsaken me and have worship pastor at the goddess as I don't even he must forgot of the moabites and milcom the god of the god of the children and if not walked in my ways to do that, which is right in my eyes and they keep my statutes in my judgment. That is disabled his father. I'll be at I will not take the whole Kingdom out of his hand, but I will make him Prince all the days of his life for David. My servant steak-umm I chose because he kept my Commandments in my statutes. But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand and I will give it under the sea. We even ten tribes. Done to his son when I get one tribe that David my servant may have a light always before me and Jerusalem the city which I have chosen to put my name there and I will take thee and thou shall train according to all the Thai Soul desire in and she'll be king over Israel. And it shall be if that will arguments all that. I will command to thee and we'll walk in my ways and do that is right in my sight to keep my statutes in my Commandments as David. My servant did that I will be with thee and build the ashore house as I built for David and will give Israel on Sovine. And I will forget the flick the seed of David but not forever. Solomon stop there for to kill jeroboam and durable on the rose and fled into Egypt until Shack king of Egypt and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon. Or I pray that you'll directed A study as we look at this man jerk off of this man who you brought into existence for the purpose of not only the life that he lived in for the purposes that you had for him. But also that we might look at him and study him and that we might learn from his example the good and the bad. Lord I just pray that you help me with I speak today to give strength to my voice that you will strengthen my mind Lord help me to stay focused and that word would have the preeminence and that's what people remember today will be what they have learned because you're Holy Spirit has spoken to them through your work and I look forward to Jesus name.

All right. It's a little bit of a whirlwind tour of some of the things they have a lot of material associated with them and you're a bone is one of those King some of them have maybe only in a few verses and when we get to those points, I know what I'm going to do, but he has a few different chapters here in four things that we look at how I could have started with three of them. Who is the son of Solomon which is the successor of what will a divorce case today become the southern Kingdom or I don't call it the other name that is called. Once we get into that part of our texts about we're going to start with Jared will partly because he's actually the first one that we see in the text as you go through The scriptures hear all of the United Kingdom and in a lot of ways jeroboam is similar to him and look at some of that. One of those ways is that he similar to the fact that he is not of the tribe of Judah and of course there was a promise that was given to David that those that came from his life and Reign Over Israel. Well, of course we've seen even in what we read here. There's already been some problems even in the rain Solomon that is causing God to I don't know if you'd call it Plan B, but he's moving things in a little bit of a different direction and for certain purposes. You see that in verse 33 there a how God didn't want things to go this way.

The first heading I'd like to look at today as we look at the study of the life of the prophecy of jeroboam Kingdom chapter 11. So under that heading I'd like the first look at jeroboam identity. We see that inverse number 26. It says that jeroboam the son of nebat was an epiphyte now an effort site would be from which tribe would you say? Who has the thing that's closest to that you'll be Freon. And of course was one of the sons of Joseph and we see his name mentioned but he is from Ephraim Ephraim is not coming from the tribe of Judah that you Freedom would be a logical choice in speaking. And so we see him coming from that tribe. Also a Wii theme verse 26 that he he had some political Association and people will talk about that. You know, somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody. Well jeroboam was one of those people he kind of knew someone who knew someone and we see that and verse 26 there where he is. He could tie his relationship to Solomon through a Servants of Solomon who is names are the Radha so he has ties to the

And I think we'll talk about that in our day today about knowing someone in those that person as an influencer and they will get you into certain position or maybe in a job. Somebody knows somebody that will get you into a certain position at your job.

So we see him as an effort. He's also listed in verse number 28 as a mighty man. Now you might be familiar with David's Mighty Men, which are listed I believe in 1st Samuel 23 verse 28 hearing Mighty Man of Valor. and we see part of it how to earn to that description here Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious. Don't we like to to be busy this time of year make ourselves to use one of those kinds of people evidently that You couldn't stop him from working those people that just kind of have that ingrained in that they like some people may be at the work place where you don't have to tell them to do anything. They just do their job and when they're done doing that one job and move on to something else up their own volition. They just keep working and working and we're going to look at what you're at home. I believe this is actually a positive quality. The fact that Solomon saw that he was industrious. He was a good hard worker. And that earn him a promotion at his workplace there because he then made him ruler over all the charge of the House of Joseph and that were charged there has to do with the burning the labor that they of the House of Joseph which would include that whatever they did kind of like with a when Joseph himself was promoted to various positions that he was put in charge of those doing various sorts of Labor in style. So we need your bones identity here. Let's look at jeroboam prophecy. Second of all here. First of all, we look at the rending. We see that vs 29 through 31 here. So just to be clear here with a text cuz I know sometimes when you re things dramatically you kind of have to think through it and sort it out. So it says that there's a garment that would be worn this garment. is being worn by Arm and your own here and it was that's what I thought it would seem that way. I apologize for an and then and then the other two. But I need you see in the later versus there that he's going to allow one try to remain and what what time is the mass at up with all of that? Well, I'll go into some description. A little bit here. So this is jeroboam as an example of what God is about to do here. The first of 32 to 36 verse 31 representative of that. If you go back to you earlier and you'll find out that Solomon loved a lot of strange women and so because of those relationships, he got himself into a lot of trouble with God and let him into various forms of idolatry. And those are listed their first number 33 the plan here with jeroboam. Who's upset with the idolatry? So yeah, but in tribes that are going to have one that will be given to the successor to David slime. How does how does that add up here? Well? For those who have been students of the Bible you'll discover. In fact in chapter chapter number 12 when things really start to get out of control, you'll see that Benjamin is often listed with Judah and Benjamin. Is that other tribes that He's only giving One Tribe today declined because they already had to do that. And so it's kind of like Benjamin is being given to Judah. So that's how you get to that the Benjamin together others would say that it's because Judah and Benjamin are often associated with each other that in some ways they're counted as one. So that's what some say about why they call it one here. But at any rate, that's the mask over all kind of backed up. You have the 10 tribes that goes to what will become the northern kingdom and then you have the two tribes that go to the southern Kingdom of Judah and Benjamin are going back to Joshua's day and what they were giving Benjamin is like a little sliver that's right above their head and their circumstances.

Benjamin tribe and so they kind of stuck close to do today in description about that. So we have to run during the reasoning now, let's look at the reigning vs 37 to 39. We see the kind of Freedom that he gives gerbil your verse 37 and I will take thee and thou shall trained according to all that I sold as I already know. What are we is qualms were with Solomon. He's now given a chance. All right, do whatever you want now wouldn't you love to have that opportunity? And so then went to become the boss and get to make all the rules then you do whenever your soul desire it but it does come with a few caveat verse 38. God gives him some boundaries within which to rain according to all his Soul's desire. And what you see their inverse number 38 compare that with 2nd Kings chapter 9 verses as Solomon is approaching God for the second time and follow it sold almost this word for word that if he will hearken to God will obey his word then he'll allowed his kingdom to continue. And so again comparing those are very similar things and also noticed the words here and verse 38 kind of towards the top of the verse there and do that is right in my sight. Went whenever you see the things talked about you're going to see a phrase that in some way says end date this team did that which was right in the eyes of the Lord or the opposite this King did that which is evil in the eyes of the Lord. And so this phrase is kind of a a good book and if you want to know know where to start and stop your different studies a piece of people those are good little bookmarks and indicators. Looking for that work.

Bones identity with the way things were well the exact reasons why he was upset with these things that are 27 here. He was upset with that the building of pillow and a train that word translated literally means paris's kind of like you have your house and then you have no maybe your balcony or something or not worried. You'll maybe like a little Garden area where you have like a little Central area of something kind of like that a terrorist. So he built anillo and repaired the breeches. I mean it again, I would think that would be a good thing. One reason I might speculate that he would be upset and thinking back to all of us all them and was building and we spent seven years building the house of the Lord and a couple later says but he spent 14 years building his house and all these other things. Maybe there was something associated with that why you're so upset you even wasting all the time and all the other thing. No, couldn't you have put more time into the house of the Lord rather than trying to focus on your own thing again. Maybe I'm putting words in gerbil now, but none the less he was so a second thing here is the threat perceived and Bruce number 40 After now he's been giving this prophecy that he's going to inherit the ten tribes. It says that Solomon stopped there for to kill Jericho up as we looked at last week with King Herod King Herod perceives a threat to his kingdom and wanted to stamp out that opposition and perhaps there's a little bit of that going to stall them if my where maybe he knows a little bit about Jericho. I mean personality and what he would do if he were king that's all a man is not going to allow this to happen here. And of course only those who were of the line of David could be a few of the Kingdom of Israel. So maybe this isn't how it's supposed to be.

And of course at the same time Solomon has already given his heart over to various forms of idolatry. So perhaps Solomon's maybe a little bit off his rocker to not quite in his right mind that he's going to feel threatened and feel paranoid about this situation. So we've seen all of us about the prophecy of gerbils Kingdom Here 1st Kings 11 second hiding here. Let's look at the circumstances.

First thing under there padding will look at his jeroboam case. I talked about having grievances with your government. This is one of those times when they're taking grievances. So the government 1st Kings 12 verse number one. Andrea Bowen went to shechem for all Israel were coming to shake him to make him King and it came to pass when jeroboam the son of nebat who is yet and heard of it, but he was flooded from the presence of King Solomon and jeroboam place in Egypt and all the congregation.

So first thing under jeroboams Casey or the fact that his leadership is have recognized that they sent and told him they wanted jeroboam to spokesman and sometimes that's that's what we do with whatever r o d Amour the microphone or whatever. We State our case. You're going to represent us you're going to State our case for us now remembered he had been through some of the various forms of Labor that Solomon had enacted and so experience with some of the regulars that they had to go through. And you see that grievance spelled out in verse number for there? Now this is supposed to be riobamba coronation. There it real bowling at the successor to Solomon. It's a real gone. It's now all being installed. And so they come to this place called check-up which has a lot of significance when you go back through their history. You know, Abraham has been kind of shechem. You have Jacob who dwelt there for some time. You're in the Book of Joshua the end of the Book of Joshua and they're committing themselves to the Lord who is on the Lord's Side or you know, some of you may have any plaques on your doors are in your house somewhere, you know, you know who will use her and so he's Drawing the Line there is where they made that declaration Joshua 24, very important place since there was this is where is supposed to be installed as the king. And we're going to see what's going to happen as a result of some of what's going to happen here. So looking at the grievance rendered inverse number for So they speak Andrea Bowen saying my father made Arlo Grievous. Now, therefore make that my father and his heavy yoke upon a slider and we will serve thee. And he said unto them depart yet for 3 days then come again to me and the people to party. A reborn needed some time to think about this. Not looking at real looking at your interaction and that's kind of a look at the next time. I have an opportunity but looking at the grievance that they have here you go back to 1st Kings chapter 4 & 5 you see some of the hard labor and that the thousands and thousands of people that Solomon put into his service to build structures and to perform. And your chapter 5 also talks about the they put officers over them to determine who was going to provide the Kings portion for that month until the twelve officers had a group of people that they oversaw and don't that group of people then had to provide for the king. So you think of that kind of like a tax in a week if we give taxes to our government to provide for various services for good or for evil and maybe there are things going through our minds that we think about that. We'd rather not her have her text. I was going for it but their tax dollars if you will know their sustenance the provision went towards providing for the key music works and then they also course performed the labor for that. So they said, you know, it's life has been really hard and your word we're tired. We don't want to we don't want to go through that anymore. And whatever spin they might have put on it. This is the first number for is their complaint. Sew-in also remember 1st Samuel chapter 8 we talked about that when I gave the introduction and this is the manner of Kings I shall reign over you and he will take some of you to perform various services for you. He's going to take some of your substance is well. This is the kind of thing that you're going to get. So this is under Solomon's the kind of life that they experience. They had to give up their labor. They had to give up her substance to be able to provide but they wanted that load to be like and we don't we don't need to be doing these things anymore. So I put all this effort into trying to continue to keep things as they were. So make a long story short verses 6 through 11 real bone takes the three days takes counsel with various people and ultimately inverse 12. We see his answer. The jeroboam and all the people came to read a poem the third day is the king had appointed saying come to me again the third day. And the King answered the people roughly at 460 oldmans Council that they gave him and space to them after the Council of the young men saying my father made your yoke heavy and I will add the joke my father also chastise be with whips but I will chastise you with scorpion. And of course the famous words that he said earlier in the chopper is at my little beach finger will be sicker than my father's loins make more or less saying the same thing that he says you're in for 14 or safety wear for the king Harkins not unto the people for the cause was from the Lord that he might perform his saying which lures state by a height of the shilonite in the gerbil in the son of nebat.

So you see also in a way here at the Free Will of man in the sovereignty of God working together. In this case where the decision was actually a fulfillment of what God was had intended in speaking through the prophet high-security jerk-off that the kingdoms would be does that the tribes will be divided the kingdom divided. So the council is rejected. You know what you thought it was that I'm going to make it worse now. 1 things to know about jeroboam here.

The fact that he had been told about what was going to happen that the kingdom was going to be divided that the tribes were going to be split. He could have taken that opportunity. Maybe then kind of form his own little too and overtake the human or whatever it was but we see him actually being patience and letting circumstances work themselves out which

But we're going to see later that that trust was only partially was incomplete. So well here we do see him exercising some restraints. We're going to see him later where he takes matters into his own hands and wasn't that kind of likes all is well. We're at the beginning. He seems like a good choice. And then later on we saw that maybe this was really the guy that we wanted in charge in the first place. Look a gerbil Haslett. Look at jeroboam coronation. First number 16 going all Israel. Saw that the king Harkins not unto them. The people answered the king saying what portion have we dated? Neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse to your tent? So is real now seated. I own house David Bowie's real departing on to their tent. If you look back at 2nd Samuel chapter 20, this is actually the exact same words that were used when he led a revolt against David and it's been promised after hitting with that Kiba that there would be these kind of things that would happen. There is be a things within the family and against his team that would happen. If this is one of those things where they they issued this exact response,

So when you see those words in verse 16, that's a repeat of 2nd Samuel 20 verse number one when Sheba is leading the revolt against David.

I hear that they're kind of worried resting David not I know they were against the House of David as a whole that they're seeing if he is the representative of the line of David.

So again, that's kind of my take on it is that this is last against three of them personally in war against the House of David overall. And so that's why we have this flick of the Kingdom 2. So next we're going to look at Israel's Rebellion verse number 18. 19 ribbon sanatorium who is over the tribute and all Israel Stone him with stones that he died there for a king rehoboam. They need to get him up to his Chariot to flee to Jerusalem Israel rebelled against the House of David unto this day. So they separate themselves fully from the nation of Israel has holes form their own little group and they rebelled happening here and what they do to this man a door on this kind of a demonstration of their Heart chords that the kingdom that was been in place. We also see here that real gone and having to flee his own coronation ceremony. He's supposed to be installed at King and instead of this Grand Gloria ceremony and run out the door and find Stacy. So we see him running back to Jerusalem here. And then again also notice and verse 19. It says they rebelled against the House of David unto this day. So up to the time that this was 10. This was still true of the nation of Israel. So we see also now Israel's reception verse number 20 that is there reception of Jericho on and it came to pass when all is really heard that you're going was come again that they sent and called him into the congregation and made him came over all Israel. There was none that followed the House of David but the tribe of Judah only so here he is installed as he we also see the distinction between what is it become the northern kingdom in the southern kingdom was seeing the words there in verse 20. You have him being King over all Israel versus those that followed the House of David Koch Israel and the House of David So Northern kingdoms. So if you see that terminology talking about here Israel will generally refer to the northern kingdom. Whereas when you're talking about the House of David or juvenile were talking about the southern Kingdom. Route 21 also mentioned that and then I also mention Benjamin earlier. We see Benjamin a listed there with Judah and verse 21, so they are the two kingdoms that stayed loyal to the House of David. And through her 24, we see some of what real bone stock or now real bowling at the one that's feeling threatened. And so he is trying to gather the nation back together as best you can and when that happened back in David's time, your God allows the kingdom to be able to be reunited. Whereas in this case. God said, this is meant to be so don't even bother trying to fight and so real bow and listened and decided not to pursue Civil War. The first number 25 let's now look at jeroboam corruption that we talked about if you were the boss, what would you do and how would you handle handle yourself? Well, we're putting him to the task down verse number 25. The first of all pondering upon the people then jeroboam built check up in Mount Ephraim and do out there in and went out from then. And jeroboam said in his heart notice, he said in his heart now shall the kingdom return to the House of David. If this people go up to do sacrifice and house of the Lord then shall the art of the people turn it into their lord even unto real Golem king of Judah and they kill me and go against the real bowling king of Judah. Dese all day trying to take back the kingdom is feeling that paranoia. So notice he saying this in his heart he kind of talking to himself. This is a this is a durable and having a meeting with jeroboam here. Were you thinking of things you want to point out verse 25 jeroboam built shotgun so that the same shechem. So now of all the capitals that you're going to have a northern kingdom, this is actually the first

and we see where his trust now is breaking down whereas before he was kind of keeping his cool. He was restraining himself not taking matters into his own hands. We see him now he need to try to retain the Loyalty of the people because of the situation of when they go to offer sacrifice. Well, if they go to Jerusalem, then that means I might not have their hearts anymore. So he's trying to earn them back. We're going to see what he seems out here later on.

The first number 28 and pondering upon the people. First of all second of all created convenient Cavs had to go with some alliterations explain that as we go through this year. We're 28 on the king took counsel and behold by God and this thing became a sin for the people went to worship before the dam. It doesn't sound familiar at all. Remember Exodus chapter 32 and stay too long and has a God that shall go before us and so then they would create what is it those two golden calves case cuz now he's trying to commit the same thing that they actually going to stand for some time. Now. My teacher in college are called it the capital and we talked about cults in our day and various parents if they have in their religion and a very practices that they have all this is the formation of that. Religion here. Now think about the reason why God was going to install Jericho and in the first place is because Solomon himself had committed idolatry and now the kingdom was divided because of that idolatry. And now we see jeroboam committing the same sin that Solomon did in trying to retain his portion of what you can promise again showing his distrust in God ultimately. so

And it's sad really pretty convenient as witness the convenient part I get from verse number 28. It is too much for you to go places to go to worship.

battery

All right. It's even on here. So we have these cows being set up in Bethel and is Dan.

And did the locations of these battle would be kind of on the southern part of the northern kingdom was just a little bit north of Jerusalem. And which is the farthest reaches of the northern and maybe you've heard the phrase from Dan to Beersheba. What's beat down all the way down to the South part of Judah is so pretty much. He's making it convenient for your anywhere in the northern kingdom. Isn't this the greatest leader in the world by allowing him to commit idolatry and into place is rather than just one. Well, I would say no, but anyhow, creating convenience has now we're going to see that he's promoting a personal priesthood and I'll explain that as well and get through the alliteration promoting a personal priesthood verse 31. And he made a house of high places and they Priests of the lowest people notice this which were not of the sons of Levi.

And if you compare that with 2nd Chronicles after 11, which is a parallel passage to this we see in that passage or 2nd Chronicles 11. Also Chapter 13 Verse 9 that he actually kicked the Levites out of their position so that he could set up his own priesthood.

We know the thoughts on Burke number 32 not only is going to have his own free to make his own feet and they had their feasts already of your they celebrate Passover. They celebrate the Feast of booths. They celebrated all those things. So her 32 jeroboam ordained a feast and the 8th month on the 15th day of the month like unto the feast that is in Judah and he offered upon the altar. So the significance of the eighth month on the 15th today? No going back. We know that the Passover was enacted in the first month of their calendar year on the 14th today. So that passed over but then we have the Feast of Weeks or Pentecost as we know it which is meant to be 50 days after that. So however that would add up then you have the Feast of Tabernacles. The Feast of booths are going back to Leviticus chapter 23 supposed to be on the 7th month on the 15 today. So now he's setting this up to be the eighth month on the 15th day at maybe it was close to that time of year. And that's what he wanted to do. But he said whatever it was, I think it was here the parallel the feast here. He was making his own feet. So it was jeroboam making own rules. I make his own idol worship leader.

So again verse 23, so did he come back or sacrificing unto the Cavs that he had made any place in Bethel the priests of the high places which is made and so he offered to call me all star which he even in the month notice this which he had devised of his own heart and ordained to see some of the children of Israel and he offered on the Altar and burn incense and that phrase device up his own heart and that's where I get the personal part of it.

Yeah, you want to equality you associate with him here is the fact that he stealth will God help us that were not that way gone is the one that makes the rules. He said that's what he told him for 11. I want you to listen to my word. I want you to obey my Commandments and now he's making his own devising these things out of his own heart and guess what? He's going to bring down an entire nation in which ultimately So all of these things you associate with jeroboam corruption and a warning to us all a lot of this is that the things that he wants things that were already existing meant to kind of mirror or kind of look like the worship. They already did, you know, cuz that relate to us today in anyway think about Galatians chapter 1 call warns about another gospel. It might sound like the gospel, but it truly another gospel that that's kind of what this is here is that you have the prescribed me have jeroboams form of that prescribe worship which by the way God calls idolatry. So again leading the point here, I was jeroboam corruption. He was self-willed and did things of his own heart. So it lasts heading today. If you look at the study of Geritol, we look at the Prophecies of jeroboam instruction beginning the first king chapter 13 first thing we're going to look at under that is durable and alter the one that you just created with this false worship here. Behold there came a man out of Judah by the word of the Lord at the Bethel and jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense and he cried against the altar in the word of the Lord instead altar altar. Stay at the Lord Behold a child shall be born into the house of David Josiah by name. and a pond of these shall key offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon V and men's bones shall be burnt upon the and he gave a sign the same day saying this is a sign with the Lord has spoken Behold The Altar shall be rent and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out. They're talking about defilement for toll which in some ways. It's kind of a a play on words because of the fact that he is even studying up. His own altar is a defilement of the true worship. They caught at prescribed. So we're going to take those false. It's all turns if you will and we're going to defile those. It's kind of like they double- you know, this is a good double negatives as you like to hear but God is calling for the destruction of these false these altars where they perform pulse worship. And we see here the name of another King Josiah mention the birth number to you're going to see him all the way at the very end of the Kingdom Josiah. You see him 2nd Kings chapter 23, that is actually just before Judah itself goes into captivity of all the kings and he's the one that is ultimately going to stamp out this false worship prescribed by jeroboam. So we can tingling on here. We see seizure with hell. So of course, it'll jeroboam is not going to take very kindly to this Prophet speaking against this verse number for the in the past him King jeroboam heard the saying that the man of God who cried against the altar saying that he put forth his hand from the author saying lay hold on him and his hand which he put forth against them dried up so that he could not pull it into again too soon. Maybe visualize that are we know sometimes in Colorado to be pretty dry know. We talked about our skin drying up or maybe even this time of year know people tell me to wash your hands so much that you're not at that dry. Flaky skin on your arm get becoming so dry that you can't even move it. I mean just drive to the bone is this is what happened to Joe Rago up here that he is. We seen other places people like as mentioned earlier when he presume to be a priest in the house of the Lord that wasn't a function in God and slipped it in with Leprosy Nahum in it when he decided to take the reward that was going to be given Elijah or Elisha by which one I think is Xi Elijah Second Chance write. He was afflicted with Leprosy. Also Miriam when she spoke against Moses, maybe they would treat it as they would treat it like whiskey and you can look the definitions in Leviticus 13 for that. But at any rate, it misses to the point where he can no longer function is armed and so Weeping Birch number five is fine. Now is being fulfilled. The ultra also is ranked in the actually poured out from the altar according to the sign which the man of God has given by the word of the Lord. And so now the king is going to cry out and ask him. Can you please restore my arm? And so they do that? I still plan on doing that. We see the third thing under this bribery offer the first number 7. And the King said unto the man of God come home with me and refresh myself and I will give the reward and a man of God said unto the king of that will give me half pint house. I will not go in with either will I eat bread nor drink water in this place? And he goes on to explain it because that's what the Lord has told him to do. So he's trying to butter up this for you for good for you in some kind of way. Well, and of course the man of God did what did the accounts with his eye. I meant to say earlier. So in that whole exchange there, they refused the reward initially. So that's what this man of God does hear you go on in further in the chapter here and I won't go into all the details of it, but he has another encounter with another office where he ends of disobeying his own words with another story within itself. But at one thing that I would say about jeroboam, in this case the fact that he is being so bold as to our worship hear that God has shown himself to be more powerful than his and so she's acknowledging.

So picking up words the end of the chapter here. We see despite all of this that his equal continue or 33 chapter 13.

Says that after this thing and that the account with the prophet jeroboam returns not from his evil way but made it would be consecrated yet. He became one of the priests in the high places and this thing became sin unto the house of jeroboam even to cut it off and to destroy it from off the face of the Earth. So he's kind of preparing his own destruction here by choosing to continue in his sin. If you want to know about jeroboam with the fact that he's stubborn and wasn't that the quality of seat install as well. What did Samuel tell him stubbornness is as iniquity?

But we noticed that you stubborn and continues in his ways despite the fact that he's been warned by a man of God cure or other examples in scripture even Kings who when they're confronted.

Ind1 a parallel account. You have a second Chronicles chapter 13. There's the successor to riobamba. Andrea born is the king of the House of David Southern Kingdom. His successor abijah not to be confused with a Hydra who's the prophet not to be confused with another abija who were going to see very soon. This is the new king of the Prophet was calling about for hey, you look you kicked out all the Levites you set up your own worship. You got against the god of our fathers and I'll but we've decided to keep to the freeway. In fact this kind of created a spiritual divided as well. And that is somewhat outline and second chronicles 13 where if you wanted to worship the true God you're in the southern King if you wanted to worship false gods that you went to the northern kingdom it created that much of a split not only politically but Also spiritually so again at talking about a bio major it singing it on to after 14 years and look at jeroboam child.

At that time abijah the son of jeroboam fell sick. It is kind of interesting to me. First of all, I buy in jail was the son of Rhea Below in the southern Kingdom. So real gold name his son Elijah and that was his successor. You have jeroboam hear of the northern kingdom who had a son and named him a visor. So you have two different sizes here and then we're going to see which one God actually owners here. So I know if you know you have to get together and take the name together probably not but somehow someway, so continuing on chapter 14. We see been preparing a deception verse 2 and jeroboam said to his wife. Arise I pray thee in Disguise myself without me not know to be the wife of jeroboam and get thee to Shiloh because there is a height of the Prophet was told me that I should be king over the steeple antique whiskey 10 Loaves and crack holes in a cruise of honey and go to him and he shall tell me what shall become of the child. UEC what's in his heart now, you're just as he's the other people when they try to cover up things that you're doing or covering up something and fear getting together with his wife that kind of reminds me of Acts chapter 5 ananias and Sapphira how they can even together to misrepresent what they were giving to the Lord and here we see jeroboam and his wife taking counsel together to disguise themselves as this all this profited you should go and you differently.

Not cool, and that's what we're going to see here with a high judge profit. So they were preparing a deception but this profiteer secondly

Christian verse for durable like did so in a rose and went to Shiloh. I came to the house of a Hydra but I could not see for his eyes were set by reason of the date that this kind of also reminds me of the annual went to go approached all about what he had done cuz that that time you're supposed to have utterly destroyed all the amalekites, but you decided to hold a little bit back and Samuel King down.

what mean if the bleeding of this sheep in my ears weren't you supposed to destroy everything and then of course all goes on that they're familiar with that part of history and they're going to try to see if and see if I can one-up that do it better which you're not going to be able to do is we're going to see but high chairs in the same condition as Samuel was where because of his age he had some vision problems.

Might might I also warned you about Leviticus chapter 19 verse 14 which Ox about not setting a stumbling block before the blind, you know, maybe they didn't read that part, but I know God has a way of leading the cause of those who are otherwise unable to sleep cause for them self, but we see hear God intervening on behalf of number 5. And the Lord said unto a hijacked behold the wife of jeroboam coming to ask for her son for you sick when she tell me another one. So guess what the whole plot already been spoiled and she hasn't even shown up yet. So that's how God dealt with it. So we see a Hydra not wasting any time number 6 and it was so when I heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door that he said come in the wife of jeroboam. How did you know it was me?

gospel

that come in the wife of jeroboam.

Guess what? The news that I have for you is not good. And so he's going to tell this new news in or just like it just like it didn't work for Samuel. It didn't work for them in this case. So he's going to as I'm going to stay here for now.

adjustments on Garibaldi reverse number 7 go tell jeroboam. Let's stay at the Lord God of Israel or as much as I exalt thee from among the people and they'd be Prince over my people and rent the kingdom away from the house of David and give it thee and yet thou has not been as my servant David who kept my Commandments and who followed me with all his heart to do that only with his right in my eyes, but has done evil above all that were before the now has gone in any other gods and provoke me to anger and has cast me behind zybak. Find all the way back to the First Kings chapter 11 when he pulled in. This is all you need to do and I'll let you have free reign of the Kingdom as long as you obey my Commandments. I guess what you see that phrase again at the end of her December 8th. did you only that which is right in my eyes and again a phrase being associated with the Kings quite often hear he had that opportunity and he spoiled that opportunity because he decided to do things his own way and follow his own God and We see what the constant we're going to see what the consequences are going to be because of that. We've already seen some of it but then let's look at the rest of it here. And if it weren't bad enough that he said you didn't do that. Right my eyes you even went above and beyond that you're going to make these golden calves and have the tone idolatry that you were going to make. Why did I even try to put you there in the first place? Because Solomon was an idolater and you decided you were going to do in the same thing.

well I digress. First number 10 therefore behold. I will bring evil upon the house with jeroboam and will cut off some jerboa what it says there and him that it shut up and left in his real and will take away the remnants of the House of jeroboam at the man taketh away done till it be all gone now just like a person on the path picking up after their dog. That's how I'm going to clean up after your family beer. And every one of you is going to be with you. So keep talking about the manner in which that's going to happen. So you have the ability and the choice to do the right thing and yet he chose not to do that. And now he is seeing the Judgment of God and how it's going to play out in his family know it's going to take some time for all of this to ultimately be fulfilled. But God make sure God will keep score and do what he promises to do and it's back the first number 14 with Ethan foreshadowing for the northern kingdom as well. moreover the Lord shall raise him up a king over Israel who shall cut off the house of jeroboam that day but what even now for the Lord shall Smite Israel as a reader shaking in the water and he shall Rudolph Israel out of this good land which you gave to their fathers and then beyond the river because they have made their growth provoking the Lord to anger and he shall give his real up because of the sins of jeroboam who did send and who made Israel to send You'll be careful of your example. We see in this case with Jared that jeroboam sin led to National sandwich led to God ultimately sending the whole northern kingdom into captivity because of jeroboam choice. So anywhere of your example. Last thing we'll look at is if there's any kind of a silver linings anyone story who's has an evil reputation.

Arised out there for Yeti Tenino house when my feet entrance to the city the child shall die and all Israel shall mourn for him and bury him for he only of jeroboam shall come to the Grave because any him there is found some good thing for the Lord God of Israel and the house of jeroboam. And what's the legacy of jeroboam know we see your stubbornness. We see his lack of trust. We see his self will and the one good thing for apps that we see is the fact that his child is going to perish here is did they're going to mourn him and Because that child was not old enough to know good or evil he didn't have the ability to be able to choose as you did and not like we talked about that. Maybe you've heard the phrase the age of accountability, you know that the age does that time in a person's life and ultimately god holds that person responsible for the choices that they make that child in gerbil case and not come to that point. And yeah, we're going to see I believe you're a grown child and if there's found some good thing for the Lord God of Israel in this child what good things to do you say ultimately the only one of his children did not have to perish in the same way that the rest of his family is going to have to perish What's the wall we may have seen a man who had a good industrious work ethic and we saw someone who did exhibit some Trust In Summer strength. We see ultimately that he exercised. Presumed under false motives. He was stubborn and self-willed this man Jericho long, you'll be careful. These things are written for our admonition in for our learning that we might learn from his example, so that was That. What we can learn from as we come from this study today, so as we close y'all just consider yourself what good qualities that I can Implement into my life that I can become a better servant of God and what bad things can I learn from from the life of Jericho that I can learn from and hopefully not make a myself will Mi exhibiting some lack of trust in God. Am I trying to do things my own way? No, do you have ulterior motive handling myself in that kind of way. So let's guard our hearts and let's seek the Lord. Let's focus on the good and try to eliminate the bad guy.
